No LGUs allowed to dredge rivers, deltas, says DPWH By MARK FRANCISCO Correspondent

CAGAYAN de Oro City-The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is the sole agency allowed to dredge rivers and deltas, the agency’s senior official said. Vinah Jeanne B. Maghinay, DPWH-10 spokesperson, issued the statement after the local City Council passed a resolution informing the government that it would proceed with the dredging of Cagayan river as a preventive measure against flooding. Earlier, Councilor Zaldy O. Ocon, chair of the council’s environment committee, put forward the resolution after being fed up with the slow dredging of the Cagayan river by DPWH. SMALL TIME QUARRY.
