Incumbent brgy officials to serve until 2017 polls THE term of office of incumbent barangay officials will be extended under R.A. 10923 or An Act Postponing the October 2016 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. Based on Section 3 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A. 10923 released by the Commission on Elections on November 8, 2016 through Comelec Resolution No. 10168, incumbent barangay officials will remain in office on a hold-over capacity until their successors are duly elected and qualified, unless sooner removed or suspended for cause. The term of office of barangay and SK officials who will be elected during the October 2017 elections will begin at noon of November 30, 2017. The bill postponing the polls to October 23, 2017 was signed into law on October 15, 2016. Subsequent Residents fill up voters’ registration forms at the Commission on Elections office on Wednesday, November 9. See polls, page B2

Executive Order No. 2, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 23, is a response to the call for transparency and full public disclosure of information.?? Under the EO, citizens’ right to file requests to access information will start one hundred twenty (120) days after the its publication.?? The actual on-field price monitoring by NFA personnel shows that the price of palay was still above the government support price of P17 per kilogram, at an average of P18.35/kg
while corn prices averaged at P11.94/kg for the white variety and P11.06 for the yellow variety. NFA buys yellow corn at P12.30/kg and white corn at P13.00/ kg.
