TUBOD, Lanao de Norte -- Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo hosted the conduct of the Joint ConsultationMeeting of the Regional Development C ouncil (RDC) and the Provincial Development Council of Lanao del Norte in the Formulation of the Regional Development Plan for 2017-2022, on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 206, at the MCC Gymnasium, Sagadan, here. RD C chairman and Bukidnon Governor Jose Zubiri Jr. presided over the joint consultation meeting alongside Lanao del Norte Gov. Quibranza-Dimaporo. Zubiri said this is the second province he has held series of joint consultationmeetings region-wide. The first was held in Misamis Occidental province last Tuesday, Nov. 8. Joining Governors Zubiri and Dimaporo were Lanao del Norte 1st District Representative Abdullah “Bobby” Dimaporo, 2nd District Representative Mohammad Khalid Dimaporo, RDC vice chairperson and National Economic Development Authority, Regional Office 10 (NEDA 10) Regional Director Leon Dacanay, along with Executive Assistant IV Sittie Aminah Dimaporo, among others. “What we did here is the first to happen. In the past, the RDC meetings are done once every three months; and, what really happened was the projects (submitted for approval) were actually from Manila and merely approved here in the local level. But, this time it’s different,” Zubiri said. Zubiri said all the local concerns are culled and be taken up directly by the RDC and then to the Office of the President.

Council for children underscores right to education By Recthie T. Paculba

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY) -- With the theme, “Isulong: Kalidad na Edukasyon Para sa Lahat ng Bata,” the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) kicks off the 24th National Children’s Month

celebration with a motorcade, turnover of pencils for the One Million Lapis project and medical mission on November 7 at Kiosko Kagawasan, Cagayan de Oro City. To help children focus on their studies and maximize the efforts of the gov-

ernment to ensure quality education, Cagayan de Oro City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Officer Teddy Sabuga-a says that it is important to take care of the children’s health. Hence, he urges mothers to provide the best nutrition to their children especially

in their first two growing years stressing that the inability to nurture the child in such time of their life would result to fragile growth. Since this stage is irreversible, Sabuga-a said that mothers should be breastfeeding their infants from 0-2 years.

For her part, Department of Social Welfare and Development-10 (DSWD) Assistant Regional Director for Operations Aldersey M. Dela Cruz says that education starts at home with the family and it is just continued in schools. See education, page B4

of end of September 2016. SSS Officer-in-Charge of the Voluntary Provident Fund Department Marichelle L. Reyes said that 2,353 out of the 3,649 total PESO Fund enrollees are young adults mainly belonging to the “millennial”

generation, while the rest are members aged 36 to 54. “PESO Fund aims to give members an extra layer of protection through a safe and secure savings facility for retirement and other needs. It is heartening to see a growing number of

members taking the initiative to prepare for their future early in their working years,” she said. Employees comprised a large share of PESO Fund enrollment with 3,116 members or 85 percent, followed by voluntary members with

God is very good to your life The Gospel of Jesus Christ (November10, 2016-Thursday) But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. “So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, `Have patience with me and I will repay you

everything: Do not keep it because the real measure of your richness is not what you have owned, but to what you have given. Be good because God is very good to your life. Be a bridge of the love of God to anyone. The more you experienced the goodness of God, supposedly, the more you let others experienced it also from you.

Be an ambassador of God’s love and forgiveness. Be a living God in the society that you are in. I notice many times that we are liars because we pray the Our Father constantly and in this prayer, there is asking forgiveness from God as we forgive those who trespass against us. You know what? This is abused many times and in fact, this leads us to

more sins. We lie to God on this prayer because we have enemies not yet forgiven. Take note, for you to become worthy of God’s forgiveness, give your pardon to anyone. They deserved forgiveness even how grievous their offenses toward you. Do not think the damage has been done in your life but the repair and healing of your inner wounds. You are

the program so far with 57 percent as compared with only 43 percent for the male enrollees. We urge all members, regardless of gender, to invest in their future since financial emergencies can happen to anyone,” she said. Launched last year, the PESO Fund is a voluntary provident fund offered exclusively to active SSS members here and abroad. The program gives members another option to save their hardearned money to supplement their social security benefits under the regular SSS program. Ten SSS branches initially offered the PESO Fund under its pilot implementation in May 2015, and it was then rolled out to all SSS branches nationwide in October 2015. Members have invested a total of P17.08 million for their PESO Fund savings as of September 30 this year. “All types of SSS members are eligible for the PESO Fund, provided they meet certain requirements such as payment of at least six consecutive contributions within the 12-month period immediately prior to the month of enrollment. They must also be 54 years old or below,” Reyes said. To qualify, members should have no final benefit claim under the regular SSS program. Those covered as self-employed and voluntary should also be paying contributions based on the P16,000 maximum monthly salary credit, the highest income per month currently covered by SSS. “PESO Fund enrollees enjoy guaranteed and tax-free earnings on their savings. The funds are placed in investments with a sovereign or government guarantee, which is an assurance to members that their savings are safely kept for the long-term,” Reyes explained. Biblical reflection healed if you know how to give your forgiveness as what God is doing in your life. You need to forgive not because he deserved it, but because you deserved peace in your heart: Printing paid by: Edith Ranoa - Jordan and Crespina Ranoa - Bobong Balino– Cagayan De Oro: # 09187148435: Please have my latest book: To Make Your imum of P100,000 per year and a minimum of P1,000 per PESO Fund contribution. Selfemployed, voluntary and OFW members must have paid the maximum regular SSS premium of P1,760 for the same month as their PESO Fund contribution. “SSS members can also enroll in the PESO Fund by registering at the My.SSS portal of the SSS website at www.sss.gov.ph. By enrolling online, they can begin building up their investment and remit their PESO Fund savings even before the completion of the whole enrollment process, which is convenient especially for busy workers who have little time to spare to visit SSS branches,” Reyes said. To complete the enrollment process, online registrants may visit any SSS branch to personally sign the PESO Fund enrollment form. This procedure will confirm their enrollment so that they can withdraw or claim their PESO Fund savings in the future. PESO Fund contributions of SSS members are allocated to three types of accounts – 65 percent for retirement or disability, 25 percent for medical needs, and 10 percent for general purposes, including contingencies such as education, housing, livelihood and unemployment.

Zubiri has vowed to bring the consolidated concerns of all the five provinces in Northern Mindanao himself direct to President Rodrigo Duterte, even before he submits the same to the NEDA to make sure that he can tell Duterte that he has fulfilled his vow to bring the concerns of his region up for the President’s endorsement. “We’ve been dreaming of this for quite some time. We wanted to, at least, be given our proper share in the income that is derived from our region. But, it was never,

never done. It is only now that we have (the chance). God’s will that the president is from Mindanao,” Zubiri said, “and he promised to help us,” he added. Governor Dimaporo, for her part, said the meeting was attended by most of the mayors in the province, board members and line agency officials who take part in consolidating the concerns of the province. Gov. Dimaporo said President Duterte being a former local chief executive can easily understand the concerns of the local government units in the towns and provinces, even as she said that she strongly believes in the leadership of Gov. Zubiri, as chair of the RDC, in providing the avenue to resolved their concerns. Gov. Dimaporo singled out the Panguil Bay Bridge as among the projects she wanted to see through. “It’s been long decades -- the Panguil Bay Bridge. Dugay na nah. I was governor then. The FS (feasibility study) was submitted by Abdullah (Rep. Bobby Dimaporo) when he was governor. And then, sa ako nga panahon (during my term) i was the one who lobbied for that. In fact, naa nay pondo (there is a fund for that), but naudlot lang ba (it was stymied). And, I am hoping, because (Public Works and Highway) Sec. Mark Villar -- we had a meeting with the governors and he was our guest -- and I followed it up with him. He told me naa jud pondo (there is really fund). The site man gud, wala pa siya na-identify. There are two (sites for the footbridge), pero wala pay decision (but there has been no decision yet as to which of the two sites), said Gov. Dimaporo. After the presentation of the provincial situation and challenges by Gov. Dimaporo, the participants proceeded with the simultaneous sectoral workshop and plenary/presentation of outputs.
