Acenas on Monday proposed that the Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) and computer engineers be invited during discussions on problems regarding the slow internet services in Cagayan de Oro City. Earlier, Councilor Ramon Tabor aired complaints from subscribers of telecommunication companies regarding wifi connections, which he said are not the speed the companies have advertised. The report was referred to the joint committees on trade, commerce and cooperatives and on public utilities chaired by Councilors Edna Dahino and Roger Abaday, respectively, for appropriate action. Acenas expressed concern that among Asian countries it is only in the Philippines where maximum internet speed is only 3.55 megabytes per second (Mbps).
