4 NPA rebels yield CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City -- Four members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bukidnon on Monday voluntarily surrendered to the army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade in Impalambong, Malaybalay City. Lt. Col. Leo S. Bongosia, spokesperson of the army’s 4th Infantry Division, said that the surrenderers were alleged members of the NPA’s Guerilla Front Committee 6 operating in Bukidnon. He said the rebels who have lost faith in the “revolutionary struggle” voluntarily surrendered to Colonel Francisco L Pabayo, Commanding Officer of the army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade. Bongosia said that the surrenderers turned over one M16 5.56mm rifle, one 40mm grenade launcher and one M1 Carbine rifle along with five 40mm grenade launcher rounds, three magazines for the M16 rifle, two magazines for the M1 carbine, and 110 assorted live ammunitions for both rifles. According to Bongosia, the rebels disclosed that they were already tired running in the mountains as fugitives aside from hunger and their longings to join their families that they have abandoned for man years. npa | page 11

EGISTRATIONS for the October 28, barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls was turning into a mayhem as some 1,600 confused would-be-registrants here complained on Tuesday about the lack of proper registration procedure.

The city’s Commissions on Elections (Comelec) have started the 10-day registration of voters for the nationwide SK and barangay elections at the City Tourism Hall here since Monday. The Comelec sets the filing of candidacy on October 15-17, 2013. Thrisha Mendoza, 17, said that the registration was disorderly that registrants coming from far flung barangays who came as early as 4:00 a.m. still failed to register at the end of the day. “Permi mi ga-balik-balik, walaý sakyanan, so diri ra lugar mi matulog? CAGAYAN de Oro City-A vehicle believed stolen in Bulacan was recovered on Monday in Balingo-an, Misamis Oriental after the driver figured in a freak accident, a police officer said on Tuesday.
