CAGAYAN de Oro City––More than 6,000 hills of marijuana plants were uprooted at a forestland in Cabanglasan town, Bukidnon, and burned by authorities. Police officers of the Regional Special Operations Group and the municipal police station uprooted the plants at sition Saluringan, barangay Canangaan. The authorities burned some 3,000 plants in the area as terrain, mobility and security constraints prevented them from extricating the plants. CAGAYAN de Oro City–– Chinese businessman Robert Kua and two companions who were all kidnapped Wednesday last week in Lanao del Norte were released Monday evening in Lanao del Sur. Kua and his companions have returned to their families in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental following negotiations with the kidnap group. Former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano negotiated their release with the help of Maranao officials including city pros-
ecutor Fidel Macauyag and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos regional director Ogie Gandamra. In recent years Emano had also negotiated for the release of kidnap victims brought to Lanao del Sur.
