CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The Philippine Army will dismantle the 163 landmines that soldiers found in a New People’s Army bomb factory in Agusan del Sur last Wednesday. Capt. Christian Uy, spokesman for the 4th Infantry Division, said the Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit will do the dismantling. The landmines were found by soldiers at sition Mampait, barangay Kauswagan, Loreto town after a series of gun battles with the NPA guerrillas. No casualties were reported on either side during the armed encounters. Eastern Mindanao Command commanding general Ricardo Rainier G. Villar donates P8m for ‘Yolanda’ relief on birthday
Instead of him receiving gifts, typhoon Yolanda survivors will be receiving one from the birthday celebrator, Mr. Manny Villar. Villar, Chairman of the Villar Group of Companies, wrote a check amounting to P8.1 million for the relief and recovery of the calamity victims as he celebrated his birthday with his employees.
