DOH: No MERS-CoV in Cagayan de Oro City Joint security center in North Mindanao revived

CAGAYAN de Oro City--Health authorities in this seaport c apita l on Thursday allayed the fears about the presence of a “MERS CoV” patient here.
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus or (MERS CoV), a contagious ailment, is a Saudi Arabia virus, first diagnosed in 2012. It is believed that the virus came from animals. Dr. David Mendoza, of the regional health department who tracked communicable diseases, has denied the presence of a “MERS CoV” patient, although a thorough examination is now being conducted on the suspected patient. Mendoza said that the patient is now confined in one of the isolation wards in Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), a government hospital, equipped with medical facilities and highly trained personnel capable of treating highly communicable diseases. He said that an initial probe into the patient’s medical history disclosed that the patient arrived in Cagayan De Oro in December, but was confined only See doh, page A11

CAGAYAN de Oro City-The spouse of the 36-yearold woman suspected to have Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) was also placed in an isolation ward at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), a hospital official said yes-
terday. Dr. Peter Quiaiot, officer in charge of NMMC, did not elaborate in regard to the condition of the husband but said the woman’s medical condition is stable. Her condition remains in statusquo meaning no improvement and no deterioration, said Quiaiot. He said the woman has
