YOU can only be productive when you love what you are doing. Thus, do not find a job that you don’t love. It will always stress you out. If you’re a graphic designer, when you report to work at 9:00 a.m. each day, it’s as if you’re just tinkering with your hobby. Why? Because graphic designing has always been your love. That’s also true if you’re a soldier, an architect, a nurse, etc. The advantage of having a work that conforms with your hobby is that your creativity will be spurned. For instance, if you are a book author or a TV series director, you can always create scenes

in your mind on how to satisfy your target readers/ viewers. It comes natural to you. And you get paid for it. Because an office setting entails eight hours of work each weekday, then make sure you get the most comfortable seat possible. It also helps if your work station is organized. If you’re female, then I’m pretty sure you have loads of mushy things in your mind on how to arrange and sort of decorate your workstation. That way, when you report to work each day, you will always see a very welcoming office environment that is not cluttered and will instead motivate you to work for the next eight hours of shift.

15-year-old Lumad stude killed in Davao DAVAO City--A 15-year old Grade 3 student of the Salugpongan School in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, was killed Sunday reportedly by the paramilitary group, Alamara, the Save Our Schools (SOS) Network said. Citing reports from the community, the SOS Network in Southern Mindanao said in its press release that student Alibando Tingkas was reported killed in Sitio Laslasakan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod by a member of the Alamara whom community members identified as Joven Salangani. “We are enraged and saddened by this incident. The paramilitary group and their military cohorts will not stop from attacking and even killing lumads in the name of their counter-insurgency

operations, even children are not spared anymore” Rius Valle, spokesperson of the SOS Network in Southern Mindanao said. Valle said witnesses saw Tingkas and two adult companions walking home at around 3 p.m. Sunday, walking from Sitio Nasilaban, Brgy. Palma Gil heading towards Sitio Bayabas “when suddenly they were fired upon in Sitio Laslasakan, just a half-an-hour walk from Sitio Nasilaban.” Valle said Tingkas was shot at the chest twice. He said they have yet to confirm if the suspect, Salangani, was alone or with a group. Valle noted that the suspect is from Sitio Barobo, “a known Alamara territory where a detachment of the 68th Infantry Battalion (is)

located.” He said the community believes that the Alamara was organized and funded by the 68th IB, an allegation the 68th IB commander denied. The SOS said that the Alamara, like the Magahat-Bagani in Surigao del Sur and other paramilitary groups in Mindanao, “are believed to be funded and organized by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to augment their forces for its counter-insurgency program Oplan Bayanihan in Mindanao.” Lt. Col. Vicente Edgardo de Ocampo, commander of the 68th IB, told MindaNews “wala pong Joven Salangani na part ng 68th IB, sundalo or CAFGU (Citizens Armed Forces Geographic Unit). Wala din pong Alamara sa

lugar ng Talaingod. What we have are CAFGUs. Wala din po kaming detachment sa Sitio Barobo” [There is no Joven Salangani in the 6th IB, either as soldier or as CAFGU member. We also do not have a detachment in Sitio Barobo.] The SOS Network said Tingkas was the “29th child victim of extrajudicial killing” under the Aquino administration’s “Oplan Bayanihan.” Valle also said they have just received information that “teachers of Salugpongan school all over Talaingod have received threats from Alamara.” “They said they will kill teachers in Sitio Tibucag, Sitio Nasilaban, Sitio Dulyan and Sitio Kamingawan on preposterous claims that these teachers are NPA (New Peoples Army) members,” Valle said. He said the SOS Network will conduct further investigation as he called on local government officials in Talaingod “to also investigate and apprehend those responsible, and for the national leadership to take heed lest things go out of hand and they will also suffer the consequences.” (MindaNews)

As we get older, we develop a theory of getting a good education. Getting a good education depends on the person. Our parents also play a part in preparing you to receive it. From the first day of school parents want them child to do well in school. They encourage their child to do homework, study, and help them when needed. Parents want the best for their children. Some people think that getting a good education depends on the school you attend. Just because someone sends their child to private school does not make their education better than a child that has attended public school. Going to intercity or suburban school is looked at when determining who has received a good education. It is ever you make out of it. It all depends on whether or not you want to sit there and take in what the teacher is teaching. Having good teachers that know what they are doing is also important. If we have a teacher that we

cannot follow then what is the point of trying to learn? Getting help when needed can also help better our education. The key thing in having the best education is understanding. We all know that education is an important tool that is applied in the contemporary world to succeed, as it mitigates the challenges which are faced in life. The knowledge gained through education enables individuals’ potential to be optimally utilized owing to training of the human mind. This opens doors of opportunities enables individual to achieve better prospects in career growth. Education has played a paramount role in the modern industrial world. This is attributed to the fact prospective employees must be qualified adequately to perform various tasks effectively. Education enables the society to interpret the world around them rightly, innovating to new ways and means that conform to their environment. Let us all have a good education.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BLBAR). Rodriguez said only 70 out of 290 lawmakers were present when the session resumes at the House of the Representatives on January 18, 2016. “We need at least 145 lawmakers to constitute a quorum,” he added. With a few days left, the lawmaker remained optimistic that the BLBAR can still make it should the lawmakers would attend the remaining sessions left before the Congress adjourns on February 8. “We are still in the period

of amendments,” he said, but there is no more to amend as all the unconstitutional provisions have already been stripped when he introduced the BLBAR. Rodriguez said he has already removed the Bangsamoro Command, the Bangsamoro Police, the Commission on Audit (COA), the Civil Service Commission (CSC), and the Commission on Elections (Comelec). All these provisions, he explained violate the Philippine Constitution. He said the “Wali” or, the supposed head of the state of the proposed Bangsamoro

government, including the issuance of an exploration permit on strategic minerals of the country have also been removed from BLBAR. “We practically have nothing to discuss since we have already amend all unconstitutional provisions,” explained Rodriguez, adding, “what we need is a quorum.” He said: “I urged my colleagues to attend the remaining session in the House so we can decide on the fate of the BLBAR.” “It doesn’t matter whether you are pro or against the BLBAR,” said the lawmaker

from Cagayan de Oro apparently referring to his colleagues, who he said were busy for the upcoming elections. With the perennial lack of quorum, Rodriguez said there is no longer hope of having the BLBAR passed under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III. He said it will be up for the next president whether to continue or not the peace talks with the Moro rebels to achieve lasting peace and development in Mindanao. “Sayang (What a pity),” Rodriguez quipped.

Many agreed that devices should be banned from school such as iPods and cellphones. It should not be out during school hours. Technology also has disadvantages at some points. iPods and mobile phones prove to distract many young students from the job they are mend to do at school. Making it permissible in school is distracting them from studies. Electronic devices should be used as

a mode of entertainment, not distraction. The apps that can serve as a huge educational purpose could be used in the students free time. We are sure that the apps are not part of the curriculum. The school provide students with the information they need to understand and pass the class. Whether the ipod or cellphone has information or not is irrelevant. If the student wishes to use the device as a form of study on

their own time is fine, but to manage work at school in unnecessary. Therefore, devices at school are just an increased chance of distraction and fooling around that hold absolutely no benefit to the student. We know that the ipod and phone are not all fun and games. They have education and values to then as well. There are apps that you can get that serve a huge educational purpose to them. Some people did not agree with the banning because they said it can be used for research and learning

and emergencies. There are also learning apps in devices. Well, it’s okay if we bring phones to school as long as we know how to control and how or when to use it. Yes, it’s important. We can really use it for emergencies. We must teach everyone especially students to use their devices for important matters. Once caught using devices for entertainment, we can let the teachers confiscate it so that the students will learn their lesson.

No justification for Philhealth premium hike For 2016, Philhealth announced that monthly contributions may increase due to additional benefits they will accord senior citizens and indigent patients. Philhealth keeps on deceiving the public to justify the impending premium hike. Why would they propose an increase in monthly contribution to provide additional benefits for senior citizens and indigent patients when already, a large chunk of the health budget amounting to Php 43.8 billion is already allocated for Philhealth in 2016? Philhealth and its policy makers should get a dose of reality and stop deceiving the public. For the record, Philhealth is not the answer to the Filipino people’s health-related woes as is deceptively assured by Aquino and Roxas’ Daang Matuwid – an overhyped slogan but nothing more than an empty rhetoric. It is a vehicle of patronage politics and fails to reach all those who are in dire need of health care. A knowledgeable source said that for three years, TASC will supply water to BCWD at P11 per cubic meter for the water distribution firm’s daily consumption of 40,000 cubic meters. Computing B CWD’s operation and maintenance cost of P18.19 per cubic meter less TASC’s water rate of P11, and multiplying the P7.19 difference to 40,000 cubic meters, it will result in savings of P297,600 per day or P8,620,000 in 30 days. For the first three years, BCWD would earn P310,320,000 in savings that it could use for expansion and improvement of services, the source said. While the source dismissed issues raised against the water project, he noted that the undertaking will not cause any increase in water rates charged to consumers. The source emphasized that the project will in fact result in the following benefits: l. Ensure stable supply to BCWD; 2. No financial risk to BCWD; 3. That is why every teacher should take into best consideration the way he or she handles the class. One way is that make your pupils understand why they are in school. Respect your pupils as much as you

want to earn respect from them. Treat them as your children and make them understand that acquiring best education is anchored on valuing and living good values also. Another, listen to their needs, beliefs and ideas. For sure, these children have differing insights and ideas over a matter but on how you respond to them, is that all they will remember. Hear and appreciate their voices as they hear and appreciate your voice and thoughts. The moment they feel that they are being heard and attended, then that’s the moment they will listen without the teacher instilling

fear over them, without the teacher begging the pupils to. Set as a very good example. Well, what you basically do and say, in the eyes of your pupils, it’s the right thing to do. Before you reprimand your pupils, you have to make it sure

that you are portraying the good values, in which they can see you doing it. In their very eyes, what their teacher does and say, for them it is right and just. TITLE - This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the Municipality of “BUUG DISCIPLINARY HOUR ORDINANCE” SECTION 2. PURPOSE - This Ordinance is enacted for the purpose of regulating the hours during which a child/minor below 18 years old may appear upon the public streets or in any public place in the Municipality of Buug without being in the presence of their parents or guardians, or some adult person delegated by their parents or guardians: and to regulate such activities in the interest of the perseverance of the public health, safety and general welfare. SECTION 3. DISCIPLINARY HOURS - It shall be unlawful for any minor age below eighteen (18) years of age to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play, pleasure ride, park or be in or on any type of vehicle whatsoever, or be or remain in, on or about any public street, highway, road, alley, park, playground, or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, vacant lots, places of amusement or entertainment, or other unsupervised places in the Municipality between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., of the following days: that the provisions of this section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or when the minor is going to, attending or coming directly from a legitimate church, municipal or school function, or to a minor whose lawful employment makes it necessary that such minor be in, on or about the places herein set forth within the prohibited hours contrary to the terms hereof. SECTION 4. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY - It shall be unlawful for any parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of any minor below eighteen (18) old to allow or permit any such minor to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play, pleasure ride, park, or be in or on any type of vehicle whatsoever, or be or remain in, on or about any public street, highway, road, alley, park, playground or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, vacant lots, places of amusement or entertainment, or other unsupervised places in the Municipality contrary to the provisions of and within the time prohibited in Section 3. It shall further be unlawful for any parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of any minor below eighteen (18) years old to fail or neglect to cause any such minor to refrain from being in, on or about the places set forth in Section 3 within the time prohibited contrary to the terms and provisions of this Ordinance. SECTION 5. AMUSEMENT PLACES - It shall be unlawful for any person operating places of amusement and entertainment in the Municipality of Buug, including, but not limited to, bowling alleys, theaters, pool halls, dance halls, or places having amusement devices such as pin ball and video internet cafes game machines, to permit any minor below eighteen (18) years old to enter such places of amusement and entertainment during the hours prohibited by the terms of Section 3; provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply when the minor is accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor. SECTION 6. CUSTODY - Any minor found by any police officer in violation of Section 3 of this Ordinance shall be taken into custody by said police officer and delivered as soon as maybe to the parents guardian or other adult person having the lawful care and custody of said minor. SECTION 7. NOTICE TO PARENTS - Whenever any minor shall be taken into custody, as hereinbefore provided, written notice shall be given to the parent, guardian or other person having the lawful care and custody of said minor in the form hereinafter provided, which notice shall be served upon such person by handing said person a copy of the same personally or by leaving a copy thereof at his or her place of residence and informing any person upon the premises of suitable age and understanding of the contents thereof. REPEALER - Any Ordinance of the Municipality of Buug enacted prior to this Ordinance, which is in conflict herewith, is hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 10. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE - Should any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance be declared by a Court to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the Ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof other than the part so invalid; it being the intention of the ordinance that each part, paragraph, sentence or any part thereof is separate from the rest of this Ordinance.

SECTION 11. EFFECTIVITY. This shall take effect upon its approval.

DAVAO City--Another tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) was bombed on Monday morning by unidentified men in Lanao del Sur, the second attack on power facilities in Mindanao this month. In her Facebook post on Monday, NGCP Mindanao spokesperson Milfrance Capulong said Tower 50

of Agus 2-Kibawe 138 KV line, located in Brgy. Pantar, Dimayon Bubong, Lanao del Sur was not completely destroyed and restoration works would start as soon as the area is declared safe. She said the attacks on NGCP towers have only worsened the Mindanao power situation. Last year, 16 towers were bombed, of which nine were completely toppled. All except tower 25 in Lanao del

Sur were restored on December 24, 2015. Capulong said an emergency restoration structure had to be put up to connect the power sources back on the grid. “NGCP stresses that the bombings only aggravate the tenuous power situation in Mindanao. The incoming 600MW of generation capacity from new power plants will not be sufficient to relieve Mindanao of its

energy problems unless the bombing of transmission facilities are stopped,” she said. She added sufficient supply and strong transmission are both integral to a stable power situation, as she encouraged support from the public, local and national governments, police, military, and community leaders to ensure the security of the towers and identify the perpetrators.

NGCP completed last Saturday repair works on tower 63 in Purok 4, Brgy. Pagangan in Aleosan town, North Cotabato after it was destroyed on Thursday by still unidentified men. Capulong said tower 25 in Ramain, Lanao del Norte has remained isolated as the landowners won’t allow NGCP personnel to enter the location to conduct repair works, pending unsettled claims with the National

Transmission Corporation. “NGCP was denied access to tower 25 by the landowners who demand payment from Transco for their decades old claim. The dispute remains unresolved to this day,” she said. DENR said 30 provincial environment and natural resources officers comprise the program’s first batch of participants. “In the long term, other environment and natural resources stakeholders and managers such as local governmentofficials/employees, the private sector and civil societyorganizations will likewise be targeted as participants in the program,” UP said. Ramos-Unabia walked the wedding aisle for the “second” time as she graciously accepted the invitation of Cagayan de Oro Talent Center (CDOTC) founder Gabby Bacarro to be the grand bride of the 2016 edition of the Wedding of the Century of the premier talent pool of Northern Mindanao. The event, which was held last Sunday at Limketkai Events Center, marked the 12th year in a row that CDOTC organized a so-called Wedding of the Century.

During the event, the grand bride and her entourage showcased beautiful wedding gowns to enhance the confidence and personality of the models pool of CDOTC to walk the runway. Before her marriage to the son of Rep. Peter Unabia, Vianncy was an original CDOTC talent due to her membership of the Bombastic Girls and Hip 101. It was also during the activity that premier dance choreographer Mara Castro was inducted as this year’s president of CDOTC.

Her position would mean that she would rein in the hundred-plus models and dancers under the tutelage of CDOTC. Castro graciously accepted her appointment as 2016 president, saying that she would do her best to make the whole year as lively for Cagayanons as possible for CDOTC talents to entertain and make the group a local household name. Reigning Little Miss Kagay-an 2015 Exin Guingao also graced the event and even jammed with the newly-launched CDOTC Dancing

On Chinese New Year itself on February 8, CDOTC models will escort expert lion dancers from a well-known Chinese school at 2:00 p.m. also at Gaisano.
