OZAMIZ City -- Senatorial candidate and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday exhorted city hall workers here to continue to innovate inorder to become better public servants.

Moreno arrived in Ozamiz City Monday morning to greet Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog Sr. in time for the mayor’s 51st birthday.

In his nearly 9-minute speech delivered during the flag raising ceremony held at the City Hall grounds, he gave emphasis on the importance of each government employee.

He pointed out that each government employee— from the janitor to the mayor—has an important role to play. “Lahat po sila ay may kanya-kanyang responsibilidad,” Moreno said.

Likewise, Moreno commend Parojinog for coming out with the slogan “Forward Ozamiznons” which is similar to the slogan of the INDUCTION. With the firm believing that teacher is the source of all profession, all source of knowledge formally comes from them. They exude goodness and stand the precepts of righteousness and morality, but most of all they influence the lives of every people in building their own life too.

Teacher emanates simplicity of life; they exemplify living a life according to their means.

A life where they could only provide sustainance depending on the meager salary they received every end of the month. In their profession no one has enjoy and gained luxuries of life because no one get richer, a living condition that sometimes never give a good impressions that being a teacher can enjoy a good life.

This would relate to why other teachers are put into test in some other aspect of commitment service and

dedication instances call for proof of how they can manage in delivering basic quality of instruction amidst the treat of red tape, bribery and personal favor. In the coming of election once again, teachers are in hot water dilemmas whether they will accept daily needs and consumption.

The acceptance of the challenge bank the idea that teachers can prove the value of honesty and integrity amidst the threat of lives as they will be exposed to harassment and vulnerability of their conditions when they will be assigned to for flank barangays and remote areas where there is high risk of peace and order conditions.

The scenario being presented in the aforementioned statements implies that teachers has no choice but to follow the mandates enshrined to them as teachers are empowered to facilitate the poll in accordance with the committees Election code, this manifest that the value of honesty is still propagated in the heart of every teacher.

To serve with high moral conduct and to dispense duty in the exercise of suffrage considering human right, are engagement of teachers in recognizing freedom of ever y individual and political right of Filipino people, but the point is teachers commitment in the aspect of ethical standard is beyond compare.

Bill to declare Aug. 2 as Butuan Charter Day hurdles 2nd reading

BUTUAN City -- The House of Representatives approved on second reading Agusan del Norte First District Rep. Lawrence Lemuel Fortun’s legislative measure to declare August 2 of every year as “Adlaw Hong Butuan” or Charter of Butuan.

On September 25, 2014, Fortun filed House Bill 5061 or “An Act declaring August 2 of every year as Butuan City Charter Day and a Special Non-Working Holiday in the city to be known as the Adlaw Hong Butuan.”

The bill was then referred to the Committee on Revision of Laws on October 20 of the same year. On January 19, 2016, the bill hurdled

the second reading and is now scheduled for further action towards enactment.

In his explanatory note, Fortun said that “Butuan became a political entity in 1907 through the enactment of Act No. 1693 and a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 253, otherwise known as the Charter of the City of Butuan, which was signed into law on

August 2, 1950. Since then, the people of Butuan have referred to the second day of August as the “Adlaw Hong Butuan” or the day of Butuan which they commemorate every year in remembrance of its rich history and great achievements and the significant contributions of its people.”

“Butuan City is blessed with rich cultural heritage, and has over 1,600 years of recorded history. It is known to be the Home of the Balangays, the ancient boats utilized by our ancestors in traversing Asia in pre-colonial times, the

oldest of which was carbondated 320 A.D. It is likewise host to the Bequibel Shell Midden that is proof to civilized human existence in the area as early as the Neolithic Age. Thus, its people proudly lay claim to a declaration of their old folks, “In the beginning there was no Philippines, but there was Butuan.”

‘El Niño’ downs rice yield in SurSur TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur--The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) here, which played host to this week’s Monday flag ceremony program, bared the agriculture sector had suffered from the mild effects of El Niño phenomenon in 2015.

“We expect that we will be having shortfall of supply in the next months. The only advantage we have—because we have a ‘seesaw’ harvesting in Surigao del Sur. While the central (part) is resting, the Carcanmadcarlan area (five clusters of municipalities in the north) is harvesting,”

explained the chief agriculturist.

Rice fields in the province are classified only as “irrigated and rainfed,” the former somewhat doubling the area of the latter.

As broken down, the irrigated and rainfed areas planted/harvested in 2014 were at 22,404 and 11,297 hectares as compared to 20,164 and 10,895 hectares, respectively, in 2015 On the other hand, the chief agriculturist allayed fears of rice shortage.

Referring to worst scenario, he assured that this would not take place unless rice production could go down to as much as 50

percent.

During that occasion, Quico also disclosed plans of seeing Governor Johnny Pimentel and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members for a consultation.

“We are intending to report this to the Sanggunian and to the governor so that we can also suggest some mitigation to, at least, cushion the impact of the dry spell,” he said.

Reconciliation between them had already been diligently employed but all proved futile.

WHEREFORE, finding this petition to be sufficient in form and substance, set the initial hearing of this case on February 11, 2016 at 9:00 a.m at which time, date and place. Any interested party may appear and show why the petition should not be granted. Early Registration in DepEd

Department of Education now encouraged early registration among elementary and high schools nationwide. This listing is to achieve universal completion of basic education and allow smooth flow of school opening.

In S.Y. 2016-2017, the implementation has the theme, “Edukasyon ay karapatan mo, sa Enero 30, magpalista.” It is done through the support of local government units, Parents-Teachers Association, civic organizations, business sector, and others.

In the assigned date, there would be a massive advocacy campaign in finding children and youth in the communities not currently enrolled and bring them back to school.

The campaign targets 5-year old children and ensure that they will be listed for kindergarten. It also locates children and youth situated in remote locations, under difficult circumstances, those who belong to disadvantaged

groups, and those with disabilities, in order to identify them and enroll them out.

Early registration also aims to know barriers that hinders children and youth to go to school and further identify local interventions to make sure that once they are enrolled, they would not drop out.

In making this possible, schools nationwide were urged to do houseto-house campaigns and meetings together with LGUs and civic organizations to come up ways in encouraging individuals to go back or enroll for the next school year.

The beginning at times parallels the midpoint and the ending. Thus, beginning a school year with organization is equal to a complete achievement of vision, mission and goals of an institution for the entire year. For DepEd, implementing early registration is a hint of another productive school year.

Singtel Innov8 launches global programme on startup collaboration Singtel Innov8 has announced a new program which opens doors for startups to collaborate with Singtel to create innovative solutions for business challenges faced by the Singtel Group.

Through Singtel Innov8 Connect which was launched on January 12, selected startups will receive up to S$75,000 to test and validate their solutions with Singtel. Successful solutions may lead to commercialization with the Singtel Group, providing startups access to the Group’s customer base which includes both enterprises and consumers and over 575 million mobile customers across Asia, Australia, and Africa.

They will also have the opportunity to seek funding from Singtel Innov8 and tap on its network of co-investors and partners across the globe.

Govt soon to require detectors off carbon monoxide in school buildings A LAWMAKER has proposed the mandatory installation of carbon monoxide detectors in elementary and secondary school buildings where there is a substantial risk of exposure to carbon monoxide.

The proposal is embodied in House Bill 6372 authored

by Rep. Alfredo D. Vargas III (5th District, Quezon City), and now pending at the House Committee on Ecology chaired by Rep. Amado S. Bagatsing (5th District, Manila).

being of the Filipino youth, we must ensure that our students are not susceptible to this particular toxic gas,” Vargas said.

Under the measure, the Department of Education (DepEd) is directed to adopt regulations requiring the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in every elementary and secondary school buildings with substantial risk of exposure to carbon monoxide.

The DepEd shall be assisted by the Department of Health and the Local Government Units where the particular school building is located. (PNA)

Puerto Princesa was backed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of its forest, terrestrial, and marine ecosystems conservation efforts.

The olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), also known as the Pacific ridley sea turtle, is a medium-sized species of sea turtle found in warm and tropical waters.

The sea turtle species is most known for its behavior of synchronized nesting in

mass numbers.

“This species of sea turtle is actually very rarely seen now in Palawan,” said Vivian Soriano of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), who joined the afternoon release of the hatchlings in Simpucan.

The time of release in the ocean, she explained, was because the hatchlings were sensitive to extreme sun heat. It is also a strategy for the hatchlings not to be

immediately detected by predators as only one in a 100 usually survives.

“The category of the olive ridley sea turtle is endangered that is why we need to conserve and protect them, or we will lose the species from our seas,” she said.

In the west coast, the PCP is monitoring at least 17 nesting areas of the olive ridley sea turtles with currently 1,000 eggs that need to be protected until they hatch. (PNA)

If they are the leaders of certain regions or organizations, they can be detected whether they have implemented the democracy essences. “Air is among the administration’s priorities - we won’t survive without air,” Environment Undersecretary Jonas Leones said Friday at the resolution’s signing during Metro Manila governing board’s meeting.

Aside from the environment department, the resolution’s signatories included Metro Manila Development Authority, Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board, Land Transportation Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Metro Manila LGUs, several transport groups, environment advocates and private businesses.

“We’d like to get everything going in the same direction,” EMB director Juan Miguel Cuna said at the event.

He noted Metro Manila’s air quality improved over the years since 2010 but remained not at the desired level.

The signatories target lowering Metro Manila’s level of pollutive particulates to at least 90 micrograms per normal cubic meter, the international standard.

In addressing Metro Manila’s dirty air, government is focusing on the transport sector as studies show motor vehicles account for about 80 percent of air pollutants in this area.

Winston Ginez said at the event. “The transport sector can no longer hide from this responsibility. It’s high time to take action. We must strengthen efforts to clean up the air.”

Coalition of Clean Air Advocates of the Philippines (CCAAP) continue promoting regular maintenance of motor vehicles.

Keeping vehicles in shape helps address smoke belching which pollutes air, noted CCAAP. “Motor vehicle inspection must be fully institutionalized,” CCAAP president Herminio Buerano Jr. said at the event.

He noted government must also address Metro Manila’s traffic problem as this contributes to air pollution.
