Group gets solon’s assurance Fight syndicated estafa on passage of BBL in Congress charge in courts, not in By BONG D. FABE Editor at large
CAGAYAN de Oro City-After months of agonizing over the seemingly conflicting, inconsistent, contradictory and sometimes all-out negative comments about the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), Tulay Kalinaw Mindanaw (Tulay KaMi) finally got the assurance that the chairman of the House’s Adhoc Committee on the BBL continues to champion the bill. Led by Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ, DD
and ably assisted by Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Inc. (BMFI) as secretariat, Tulay KaMi actively sought an audience with Rep. Rufus Rodriguez (CDP) to get to the bottom of it all. However, the congressman representing the second district of Cagayan de Oro seemed unreachable or evasive. But on April 11 (Saturday), Rodriguez finally engaged Tulay KaMi in an open, frank, honest and candid “conversation” on the BBL. In that conversation,
Rodriguez assured everyone that he will champion the BBL’s passage in Congress before the second half of this year, contrary to “negative” reports churned out about the BBL which Manila-based media outlets attributed to Rodriguez. Rodriguez explained to the more than 70 participants to the “peace conversation” coming from as far as Marawi City and North Cotabato province that with the BBL’s passage, peace and development will finally See passage, page A10
