BUTUAN City––The Caraga Parliamentary Debate Championship Union (CPDCU) has announced that this year’s parliamentary debate and is seen to gather the largest number of student-debaters to discourse on contemporary issues affecting the locality, country and the global community. Slated on December 5-7, 2014, CPDCU said the 7th Caraga Parliamentary Debate Championship: Law Fortun Cup (7th CPDC: LFC) is set at the Agusan National High School here and is expected to assemble 50 teams of high school and college students. CAGAYAN de Oro City-The City’s Peace and Development Council (CPDC) here is likely to tackle on the series of “summary killings” that have otherwise marred the image of this seaport capital, an official said Thursday. City Councilor Ramon Tabor, chair of the city council’s committee on police, fire, and safety, said that the City Council’s capability to tackle the issue is very limited because the council confronts only the issue in aid of legislation. He said the CPDC is more capable and better equipped in addressing the “summary killings” that are taking place almost daily here. The CPDC has the army’s 4th Infantry Division, the City’s Police Office, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the City’s Prosecutor’s Office, the city government, and all other stakeholders as members.
