DOE asked to present master plan to resolve Mindanao’s power crisis THE Department of Energy has been asked to present a power master plan to end more than five years of suffering for the people of Mindanao because of recurrent power outages and extended blackouts. Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said the master plan should secure a long-term remedy to the Mindanao power problem, not just band aid solutions that have failed to address the power woes, made worse by undersupply and high costs of electricity. He said industry experts saw the need to rehabilitate aging hydropower plants, put up new generating companies, ensure reliability of transmission lines and secure efficiency of power distributors to prevent the outages. More cocaine found in Davao container yard DAVAO CITY – Two more bricks of high-grade cocaine were discovered at the Sumifru container yard here Tuesday, bringing the total number of seized cocaine since Saturday to 53 kilos, with an estimated street value of P318 million. Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao Jr., chief of the Davao City Police Office, said the first brick of cocaine was found by a security guard of Sumifru who turned it over to the police in the morning while another was turned over Tuesday evening.
