Lugait, Holcim sign agreement on labor localization By JOE PALABAO, Editor-at-large

THE local government of Lugait in Misamis Oriental through its Public Employment Service Office (Peso) recently signed an agreement with Holcim Philippines, Inc. (HPI) in regard to labor localization program. The signing of the agreement was in compliance to the town’s amended Municipal Ordinance No. 23, series of 2014, otherwise known as the labor localization ordinance. Under the ordinance, contractors and companies

engaged in construction and manufacturing business are required to give preference to residents of Lugait with 80 percent manpower requirements to all categories among applicants found to be qualified for vacant positions within their organization as condition precedent for the issuance of a business permit. The historic signing of agreement was done at the Holcim Training Center in Lugait town in Misamis Oriental on March 5.
