CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The charred remains of a 35-year-old transgender was recovered in the rubbles of a house that went ablaze in a coastal village here Monday morning. Fire investigators found the charred remains of Ritchie Gonzalez, 35, in the ruins of the house in

Bugo, an eastern coastal village, 10 kilometers east of here, still holding her charred laptop and wallet Rene Megapatan, the victim’s lover for five years, also suffered burns, but is now in stable condition in a public hospital here. Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, which they surmised to have started in the ceiling of the receiving room.

“We are looking at faulty electrical wirings as the possible cause of the fire,” fire investigator Jose Valmores said. He said that the couple had already gone out of the house along with their pet dogs and other personal belongings, but Gonzalez went back inside to get her laptop.
