Dad calls on brgys to take active part in drive vs illegal drugs COUNCILOR Ramon Tabor, chair of the City Council committee on police, fire and public safety, has called on barangay councilors, through the newly-organized Association of Baran-
gay Kagawads (ABAKA), to take active involvement in the drive against illegal drugs in Cagayan de Oro City. Tabor said the drug problem is a delicate and
serious matter that needs the cooperation of all. “We may wake up one day and our children and family members have fallen into drugs,” he said, citing reports that sons of
prominent politicians were recently arrested in relation to the illegal drug trade. Tabor stressed that while the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National
Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force are doing their jobs, barangays also have a crucial role to play. “You are a potent force all over the city,” stressed Tabor.
He said there are over 500 barangay councilors in the city’s 80 barangays who can work with enforcement agencies in solving the drug problem. See drugs, page 11
