Rep. Umali: Full audit of Lasureco in the offing By Cheng OrdoÑez Associate Editor and SONNY SUDARIA Bureau Chief/ARMM

MARAWI City––A full audit on the financial operation of the Lanao Del Sur Electric Cooperative (LASURECO) is in the offing, following the public hearing held by the House Committee on Energy chaired by Rep. Reynaldo Umali (2nd District, Oriental Mindoro), Friday, in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. Rep. Umali said the people in Lanao del Sur

have been polarized by the inequality of power services. The hearing, held in the gymnasium of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Capitol grounds, revealed that only 25 percent of households have electric meters, and some 40 percent are with electric connection. “The promise of EPIRA to provide electricity to all consumers has not been fulfilled here in Lanao del Sur,” said Rep. Umali. “Eto po ang gusto nating tugunan after we have given a chance to concerned

individuals to talk, at napagbigyan na rin natin ang GM (General Manager) ng LASURECO, Ashary Maongco, to explain his side,” Umali said. The Marawi hearing also revealed that only 37 out of the 39 towns and one city in Lanao del Sur have been energized by LASURECO. The public hearing was requested by Rep. Ansaruddin Adiong, Gov. Mamintal Adiong, along with Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Regional See audit, page 11
