CAGAYAN de Oro City – President Benigno Aquino has approved the creation of a monitoring body to enhance the power supply in Mindanao. This, by creating the Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee (MPMC) that seeks to facilitate all initiatives to improve the energy supply in this part of the country, per Executive Order 81. Task to eversee the committee is the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa), with the Department of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, National Electrification Administration, National Power Corporation, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. and representatives from the Mindanao Electric Power power /P5

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) completed last January 21 a transmission project that will support the establishment of a new power plant in Mariveles, Bataan. The project, called the Mariveles Coal Transmission Reinforcement Project, and with an estimated cost of Php 229 Million,
caters to GN Power Ltd.’s new coal-fired generation facility, which will add 600 megawatts (MW) capacity to the grid. NGCP, the country’s sole electric transmission service provider, undertook the project to accommodate the additional capacity from GN Power, and also serve Pan Asia power plant located ngcp /P5
