Oro’s newly opened bridge is closed again CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The newest bridge in the city that was opened for vehicular traffic for five days last week was closed again by authorities last Tuesday. Engr. Nonito Oclarit, head of the City’s Road and Traffic Administration (RTA), in a statement released earlier, said the bridge, built by a grant from the Spanish government, will open for inauguration on February 6, 2015 “upon availability of government officials from Manila.”

Biz group to conduct seminar on overlapping land claims By RUEL V. PELONE Editor in chief
THE influential Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) is inviting interested individuals and its members for a five-hour workshop cum consultation on February 10, 2015 at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City. The Oro Chamber is organizing the focused group discussion to address the overlapping of land claims in government and private sectors. The group discussion also seeks to address the challenges faced by investors who are developing “inclusive business models” due to overlapping land claims from tenurial rights agreements issued by different government agencies. Daba tells fish vendors to cover banyeras CAGAYAN de Oro Councilor Annie Daba, chair of the City Council committee on agriculture and fisheries, appeals to fish dealers or fish vendors to provide full cover like plastic or any materials to their “banyeras” while in transport from its point of origin to another market. This, after the lady councilor cited observations or complaints from motorists that there are “open motorcabs” carrying banyeras with no covers. “Ang mga isda para sa inadlawng konsumo, angayan lang panalipdan kini batok sa daghang kagaw o abog,” Councilor Daba told The Power.
