Oro public elem schools benefit Text2Teach Project
S
EEING the competenc y le vel of education in Cagayan de Oro declining, Mayor Oscar Moreno embarks on a new project with Ayala Foundation, Inc and other alliance, aiming to equip teachers in all 69 public elementary schools here with the international standard teaching set by UNESCO.
This, as the Text2Teach Community Launching of the Ayala Foundation together with Nokia, Globe, Semeao Innotech, Department of Education (DepED) and City Government of Cagayan de Oro, was done recently at the West City Central School, giving away various instructional materials including a 32-inch LCD television, cellphone and Sim packs and other materials to the first 31 school beneficiaries. MISAMIS Oriental - Vice Governor Joey G. Pelaez donated books from Children International Philippines, Inc. (CIPI) to Salay National High School during the celebration of their 67th Founding Day last February 7, 2014. Present during the turn-over ceremony was Ms. Presentacion P. Alarba, the School Principal of the said school. The book donation is part of his advocacy of uplifting the competence of every student in the province by providing educational materials to various schools. Mayor Moreno led the ceremonial breaking of new two-storey school building at Balulang A 16-classroom, two-storey building will soon rise at the one-hectare new Balulang High School site as City Mayor Oscar Moreno and other dignitaries led the groundbreaking ceremony of the P15-million worth project funded under the city’s Local School Board (LSB). Mayor Moreno assures that the new school building in barangay Balulang, which
will house almost 700 high school students, signals the start of the construction of more high school buildings in other barangays of the city. In fact, City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Elena Borcillo said eight (8) additional classrooms will soon rise in Balulang High School to be funded by the Department of Education.
