REUNION. It was a tearful reunion for Cristina Manicad and her mother as they tightly embraced each other when they met at the office of Senator Cynthia Villar. The senator facilitated the return to the country of Manicad, who was physically abused and even sent to jail by her employer in Saudi Arabia. The distressed OFW arrived in the country Tuesday afternoon. Villar, through the Villar-Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (SIPAG), provided her plane ticket and gave her P10,000 financial assistance. KBP Bukidnon gears up ahead to celebrate World Radio Day By Ruby Leonora R. Balistoy

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon -- The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (Association of Broadcasters of the Philippines) Bukidnon chapter has geared up to celebrate the World Radio Day (WRD) tomorrow, February 13. Early this week, dxDB from all over the province radio station director Rev. to go through airwaves durFr. of women radio journalists, gender equality and women empowerment. Vicky Aquino, previously the news anchor of dxDBVeritas in Malaybalay shared the story how she survived the ordeal during Martial Law days when the radio station was forcibly closed while she was in pulpit “onair.” She said it was the day when she proved that she was also brave at par with her male colleagues. Likewise, broadcast journalists Ana Ninfa Bago-Caballero and Christine Barinan, said they stayed on radio for years because they hugged on some inspiring provisions in Magna Carta of Women (R.A 9710) that says “the state recognizes the vital role of women in communication and information in nation-building. Anchored by veteran broadcaster Juanito “Jun” Aroa, all KBP-accredited radio stations in Bukidnon that aired the said radio program lauded this week’s episode as it allowed a “girly take over.” The Day is the opportu-

Each one cannot really tell its future. To become somebody is a choice. If someone choose the right way of life he/she has to work and fight for it. No matter what comes along the way, one must ready to face everything. It is because one believes that at the end their’s something to achieve to reap. To fight something for the future is not easy. Everything is like the coupled with sacrifices, pains and trials.. What one needs is perseverance and of course, faith in GOD. Whatever happens, God’s guidance is with us. One need not to quit and should not loss hope because God always finds a way to those who believes and trust His powers. One must not stop striving hard. While one is alive nothing is impossible. Even dreams at night can be true, if one keeps on doing good things. Following one’s dream and patiently accepts trials no matter how tough it is, because success is just around... Success is for everybody.

Righteous Special Gospel of the day: Matthew7:2129(February15, 2014-Saturday) Matthew 7:2129- Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heard these sayings of mine, and did them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heard these sayings of mine, and did them not, shall be likened unto a “foolish” man, which built his house upon the sand: This gospel is telling us about the “false teachers of the law” as well as, the “righteous teachers.” This is proven in the gospel of Luke chapter 18:9-14- the story of a “Pharisee” that claims of his good doings and condemning the “tax collector.” This means that “preaching the words of God is not a guarantee” to enter into the kingdom of God, but what is important is “living it as an example.” In James2:26-“faith without action is dead.” In Matthew 23:3-All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. So meaning, we must teach first ourselves before others: Printing paid by: Neneth - Bobong Balino- Dr. Edith, PhD- Tony Jordan - CDO. St. Peter Calungsod, pray for us! Agree To Disagree Think a minute… A newly married couple wanted their marriage to be perfect, so they decided they would never fight. Whenever they disagreed about anything, the husband would leave the house and stay outside until they both had cooled off and were not angry anymore. Well, guess what? After 15 years of marriage that couple never had one fight—but the husband was sick with the flu 137 times. He spent more time outside the house than in! It’s not possible for husbands and wives to agree on absolutely everything all the time! In fact, disagreements and conflicts can even be healthy, if both the husband and wife are sharing their real feelings or frustrations in a kind, honest way. In fact, if we keep our feelings

Think A Minute Jhan Tiafau Hurst inside for too long, our anger can build up until we finally blow up! Then, we really hurt our wife or husband because we don’t share our feelings in a controlled, positive way. But there are still other times we just need to agree to disagree. Often the difference between strong, happy marriages and those with serious problems is how the husband and wife are after the argument. If the disagreement ends in for-

giving and understanding each other better, then you have a healthy, happy marriage relationship. But in an unhealthy marriage, the husband or wife continues to hurt and stay angry for days, even weeks after the fight…until their next fight. So their marriage problems and conflicts just keep growing bigger and worse instead of being understood and changed. This is why Jesus Christ taught His followers: “It’s

OK sometimes to be angry—but only for the right reasons, not because of your pride or selfishness. But don’t stay angry. Never go to bed angry.” We need to talk with each other until we understand and forgive each other. Jesus knows that if we stay angry, our anger will grow into bitterness even hate. Then we will start each day with yesterday’s anger still in our heart and yesterday’s problem still not solved. So why not ask the One Who created marriage to start fixing your marriage relationship? Just ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and take charge of your heart and relationships. He’s the One Who can start changing you and your marriage into the honest, loving one that you want. Just Think a Minute…

LOVE AND CHERISH YOUR JOB Many people are committing blunders by taking for granting their job. Because of this, some of them end up fired or forced to resign thus giving their respective families real thunder of hell, difficulty in living and unparallel hardship. I wish to say that our occupation, profession and the like, most likely led us to our job and we should love and cherish it with sincerity because it is tantamount to life of the family and the future of our children. It is a life-blood in living, an indispensable part of existence on earth. We must have it until they day we are fully retired. It is a great gift from God. Being jobless speaks of disasters in the family. Your wife will quarrel you when there is no food on the table for your children, when electric lights go off because of non-payment of bills as well as water and other necessities in the home. Food may come from friends and relative

The Striker

Ben Emata Jr. as well as dole outs from neighbors and passerby. It is really difficult and we have to swallow our pride, our shame, honor and dignity. Our person, our posture are in total shamble and a lot of people could not take it anymore they die for any reason. A job is life in itself. It makes us breath comfortably and see the smiles of our family. There is nothing more unfortunate than being without job. I had a bad an ugly experience to maintain a family while without work. Yes, I used to have a nice small time business operating a newspaper which just went airborne when martial laws was declared in 1972. The government

had it closed with thousands other in the entire country. It was like the skies dropped on my head and I was perplexed so much how I and my family could survive with body and soul together. I had a grim look at life and was troubled so much of the situation. I had to do everything possible to sustain life. I went up to hills to look for food. I did odd business ventures by selling medicines in far flung barangays so I could buy food and other things needed in the family. My children were so young and needing so much attention and care. I walked out of the house when the atmosphere was dark and went home when

my kids were sleeping. I kissed them in their sleep and everyday I asked God to help me. I always believe in prayers and hope of God’s help. Every moment of my life was uncertain but I felt I was going in the right direction. I was courageous. I was determined. After eight years of extreme difficulty, I got a job as an editor of a local newspaper. Later I established my own newspaper and went into television and radio broadcasting. New developments came until the day I realized I was facing a much bigger and heavier problem of sending my kids to college. To make the story short, after so many years of hard work and sweats, my five kids passed through the difficulty in college education. Today they are all employed as top executives in their respective offices. Of my five children, three became engineers, an accountant and a nurse. (benemata@ yahoo.com)

Student’s - Teachers Relationship to Provide Supports for Learning By Angelbert J. Mantabote Pinilayan Elementary School Quezon II District

A positive relationship help a student develop socially. Students’Teacher relationships is important, positive and long lasting implications for the students’ academic and social development. Solely improving students’ relationship with their teachers will not produce gains in achievement. However, those students who have close, positive and supportive relationships with their teachers will attain higher level of achievement than those students with more conflictual relationships. If a student feel a personal connection to a teacher, experiences frequent communication with a teacher, and receives more guidance and praise than criticism from the teacher, then the student is likely become more trustful of that teacher, show more engagement in the academic content presented, display better classroom behavior, and achieve at higher levels academically. Positive teacher- student relationship draw students into the process of learning and promote their desire to learn given that the content material of the class in engaging and age

appropriate. Teacher who foster positive relationships with their students create classroom environments more conducive to learning and meet students’ developmental, emotional and academic needs. Here are more concrete examples of closeness between teacher and a student: A seven year old girl who is experiencing family problem at home goes to her former first grade teacher in the morning for a hug of encouragement, even though she is now in the second grade. A fourth grade boy who is struggling in Math shows comfort in admitting to his teacher that he needs help with multiplying and dividing fractions. A Middle school girl experiences bullying from other students and approaches her social studies teacher to discuss it because she trusts the teacher will listen and help without making her feel socially inept. A teacher plays an important character in a student’s lives inside the classroom and in the personal aspect of a student’s lives now and in the future.

graft and corruption. The impact of investment in education is profound: Education results in raising income, improving health, promoting gender equality, mitigating climate change, and I believe that investing in education is the single most effective means of reducing poverty in the country. MARINA PARTNERS WITH BPI. The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) recently signed an agreement to bring personal financial management programs and counseling to Filipino seafarers in the maritime industry. To date, there is an estimated 583,000 Filipino seafarers, representing almost 30 percent of the total number of seafarers in the world today. These Filipino seafarers are responsible for no less than 20 percent of annual remittances sent to the Philippines. Dr. Maximo Mejia, Jr., MARINA administrator, has commended BPI for con¬tinuing its involvement in uplifting the lives of not just the seafarers but the entire OFW community in general. Present in the MOA signing were (from left) BPI AVP and Head of Overseas Customer Segment and Sales Rose Marie T. Reyes; BPI SVP and Head of Remittance Roy Emil. S. Hon. CAESAR IAN E. Acenas City Vice Mayor Cagayan de Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -Non-Communicable Diseases Coordinator, Dr. Andresa Beñas reminded the public to be extra cautious of their lifestyle after baring on Monday, February 10, Northern Mindanao’s rank as the fourth highest in cancer cases throughout the country over the last three years. Beñas noted that among all forms of cancer affecting the population, the most common are the breast and cervical cancer for women, while men are commonly

diagnosed with lung cancer. “Colon cancer is also one of the top 10 deadliest types of cancer not just in the region but across the country, as well,” she added. Alleged causes of cancer include heredity, diet, physical inactivity, and exposure to chemicals. Meanwhile, the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) will soon open its own oncology unit to cater to the rising demand of cancer patients in the region. (SELugto/JCV/PIA)
