SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur--- A Sendong-like tragedy similar to Cagayande Oro catastrophe in December 2011 is waiting to happen if some old abandoned logs near the top of Mt. Magdiwata here will not be cleared soon, Mayor Jenny de Asis has warned on Friday. De Asis disclosed the possibility of a disaster during the meeting of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council citing a recent findings issued by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau that a large stock of old abandoned logs in the upper part of the mountain has blocked the natural waterways that could trigger flashfloods towards the town center.
