GENERAL Luna, Siargao Island--A homegrown surfer here is the lone Filipino survivor of the highly competitive 23rd Siargao International Surfing Cup yesterday (Wednesday) after his fellow town mate was down in fourth place in the Heat 1. CAGAYAN de Oro City-The officials of the Commissions on Audit (COA) in Northern Mindanao would likely face charges for its “inaction” against Cagayan De Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno’s alleged “illegal” withdrawal of government funds amounting to P79 million, a former village official said Wednesday. CAGAYAN de Oro City--A “special child” was the lone casualty in the a fire that consumed dozens of houses and displaced more than 400 residents in Barangay San Antonio, Jasaan town in Misamis Oriental, Tuesday afternoon, authorities said Wednesday. The Jasaan municipal fire station identified the victim as Rigen Mark Daapong, 11 years old, who’s suffering from an illness. Three people, who are still unidentified, were also injured. Senior Fire Officer 2 Edsel Salvaña, the municipal fire marshall, said the fire ate up some 80 houses displacing about 436 individuals or 102 families. Salvaña said the fire occurred inside the compound of the Philippine Benevolent Christian Missionary (PBCM), a religious group founded
