Oro-based transport coop ready for new franchises

WITH the recent announcement of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRB) 10 director Aminoden Guro of upcoming new franchises to be released, a transport cooperative based here in Cagayan de Oro City has expressed interest to avail of 50 taxi franchises.

In a September 24 letter addressed to Guro, CDO TRANSCO chair Nestor Babol said that they are reiterating their earlier intent to avail of 50 taxi franchises to operate from Cagayan de Oro City.

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental -- The Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DABFAR) in Misamis Occidental led the the 56th Fish Conservation Week celebration at the Provincial Fisheries Office here, capped by an Aqua Trade Fair Exhibit showcasing the various fish and fishery products in the province.

In her message, Provincial Fisheries Officer, Gilda N. Abao emphasized that yield and profit would increase through sustainable and healthy fisheries.

“We can attain this vision and mission through collective participation and effort of all stakeholders in empowering the fisher folks and the private sectors to work together in order that we can realize the sustainable management toward increasing profitability, productivity and with the competitiveness of the Philippines in the export market,” Abao said.

Abao personally turnedover the post-harvest utensils to nine local government units (LGUs), namely, Ozamiz City, Clarin, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga, Lopez Jaena, Bonifacio, Jimenez, Sinacaban and Plaridel to help the fisher folks preserve the freshness of their fishery products being displayed in the markets, as well as enhance the sanitation in their markets.

BFAR also highlighted the significant contribution of the fisher folks in achieving a sustainable and developed fisheries sector.

The Fish Conser vation Week, which is celebrated every third week of September, was created by virtue of Presidential Proclamation no. 176 and mandated in Republic Act 8550, also known as the Philippine Fisheries Code, to intensify awareness on the need to conserve and protect fisheries and aquatic resources.

This year’s theme is “Itaguyod ang Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan tungo sa Masaganang ANI at Mataas na KITA sa Industriya ng Pangisdaan.”

In 2003, after 22 years of exploration, the Space Shuttle Columbia went on its 28th mission, this time with seven astronauts on board.

They were on a 16-day journey into space to conduct important experiments.

Everything went well and they achieved their goals, so they were returning to

earth from their successful mission. They were just 16 minutes from landing… when suddenly the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded!

Only tiny pieces were left of what was one of history’s most sophisticated machines and masterpieces of engineering. But the even greater tragedy was the sudden loss of those seven brave and brilliant astronauts.

Open Conflicts, Building Bridges Of Peace (Cardinal Orlando B. Quevedo, OMI, Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Cotabato, delivered this piece in a panel discussion during the Interfaith Peace Forum, “Peace Without Borders” held in Madrid, Spain on 15-17 September 2019).

MAY I localize the topic under discussion and speak of open conflicts and building bridges of peace on the southern island of Mindanao, Philippines. I shall speak from my own personal experience. In the past 48 years the Archdiocese of Cotabato, where I am the Archbishop Emeritus, has been the arena of open armed conflict.

Major parts of my presentation: a. The social context; b. Causes and Rise of Open Armed Conflicts; c. Negotiations for Peace, Final Peace Agreement; d. Terrorism and Violent Extremism in Mindanao’ e. Dialogue, Building Bridges of Peace – Forming Persons of Dialogue A. The Social Context The Philippines has a population of 108 million people. 82% is Catholic.

Unfamiliar to many is the fact that there is a Muslim region in the Philippines.

This is the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim

Mindanao (BARMM) in the southern part of the Philippines.. There are more than five million Muslims in the Philippines. About 3.5 million live in BARMM, a region consisting of five provinces and three cities in southwestern Mindanao.

Nine out of ten people in BARMM are Muslim.

The Archdiocese of Cotabato is located in this Muslim region. It covers the Muslim Province of Maguindanao. The Catholic Cathedral is located in Cotabato City which is more than 60 % Muslim.

The Muslim provinces and cities are economically underdeveloped. Traditionally ruled by elected powerful families and clans, BARMM is the poorest region in the country.

In BARMM indigenous Peoples, like the Christians, are a significant minority.

They are usually the poorest of the poor. Philippine laws safeguard their identity, fundamental human rights, and their ancestral domain.

B. Causes of Armed Conflict in Mindanao 1. Loss of Muslim SelfDetermination and Sovereignty In the 13th century Muslim traders brought Islam to the southern islands of what is now known as the Philippines. It was more

than 200 years before Magellan, the Spanish navigator, “discovered” the Philippines in the 16th century..

Muslim Sultans later spread their sovereignty over the indigenous peoples of Mindanao. Their sovereign power reached as far as Manila in the north. When Christian Spain conquered the islands of Luzon and the Visayas in the 16th and 17th centuries, Muslim Sultans on the islands of Mindanao and Sulu, successfully resisted Spanish colonial power.

At the turn of the turn of the 20th century, Spain ceded the Philippines to America as a result of the Spanish-American War. Recognizing their distinct identity the American government accommodated them by creating the “Moro Province” of Mindanao in 1903 with an American military governor. Eventually the Muslims lost all their sovereign power.

2. Loss of Territory Encouraged by the American government and later by the Philippine government, waves of Christian migrants from Luzon and the Visayas settled in Mindanao, the “Land of Promise.” From 1903 to 1973 waves of Christian migration from Luzon and the Visayas turned the once Muslim-dominated islands of Mindanao and

Palawan into a Christian territory, constricting the Muslim population to just five Mindanao provinces.

3. Poverty, Underdevelopment, and Government Neglect The loss of sovereign power and territory brought poverty and underdevelopment, aggravated by national government neglect. The poverty situation was albeit abetted by elected powerful Muslim clans with inadequate sense of the common good.

4. Biases and Prejudices.

Deep-seated historic biases between Muslims and Christians simmered under the surface and often erupted into brief armed conflicts. In fact when the Americans granted independence to the Philippines in 1946, Muslim politicians and intellectuals wanted to be under the Americans rather than under the majority Christian Filipinos.

The Rise of Open Armed Conflict In 1969 a Muslim University professor, driven by the deep-seated desire to regain Muslim self-determination, sovereignty, and territory, organized the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), recruited thousands of young Muslims and began to wage a See PEACE, page 11

GSIS inks Php170M loan agreement with 4 LGUs in Tarlac, holds dialogue with members SAN VICENTE, TARLAC. The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with four local government units (LGUs) in Tarlac today that opened a Php170 million loan facility for government employees in said areas under the GSIS Financial Assistance Loan (GFAL).

GSIS Chairman and concurrent acting President and General Manager (APGM) Rolando Ledesma Macasaet also conducted a stakeholders’ dialogue here in the province.

“GFAL is GSIS’s response to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to help gov-

ernment employees settle their financial obligations with lending institutions.

GSIS will refinance their loans up to Php500,000 with lending institutions at a lower interest rate of six percent per annum and payable at a longer term of up to six years. GFAL borrowers stand to take home higher take-home pay and protect their retirement benefits from future deductions. We appeal to government employers to help us make this a reality,” Chairman Macasaet explained.

Gov’t, private sectors urged to unite vs. ASF

DAVAO CITY -- The head of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) called on local governments to join hands with the private sector in preventing the entry of

African swine fever (ASF) into the island.

Secretary Emmanuel Piñol made the call on Wednesday following the series of consultations with Mindanaoan hog growers, where it was agreed

that ASF is best addressed starting with local government units (LGUs), which should institute measures to prevent the entry of live hogs, pork, and processed meats into Mindanao.

“I call on all mayors

and governors to issue an executive order to prevent the entry of the African swine fever in Mindanao,” Piñol said.

DIGOS CITY -- Police arrested a woodcarver, who allegedly moonlighted as a drug peddler, during a sting operation in Barangay Zone-2 here on Tuesday night.

Col. Ernesto Castillo, Digos City Police Office chief, identified the suspect as Razel Bangay Cabarrubias, 25, a resident of Barangay Sinaragan, Matanao town, Davao del Sur. Castillo said Cabarrubias yielded four sachets of shabu and the PHP500 marked money during a joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operation.

Davao health office urges parents to get children vaccinated

DAVAO CITY -- The City Health Office (CHO) here is calling on parents to bring their kids to the nearest health centers for immunization against poliomyelitis, as the local government starts rolling out a massive anti-polio immunization starting October 14.

Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, CHO chief, underscored the importance of immunization, saying there was no “no other way to prevent the disease”.

Recently, confirmed polio cases in Laguna and Lanao have resurfaced, prompting local governments across the country to intensify their anti-polio measures.

Last week, CHO also confirmed that poliovirus was detected at the Davao River but assured that no infected person has been reported in the city.

Villafuerte said the city is targeting a 100 percent coverage for children ages 5-years -old and below to receive the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) or Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV).

Recruiters face charges after deploying minors LABOR Secretary Silvestre Bello III has ordered the immediate suspension of two licensed recruitment agencies now facing administrative and criminal charges after deploying minors as household service workers in Saudi Arabia.

Philippine Overseas Employment Administrator Bernard Olalia identified the agencies as LGH International Services for deploying a 17-year old in Riyadh,

and the Side International Manpower Inc., for deploying a 14-year old in Jeddah.

“These two agencies clearly violated the POEA rules and guidelines for engaging in illegal recruitment and human trafficking that put the security and welfare of two minors at risks and under exploitative practices,” Olalia said.

Apart from the cancelation of license, the two recruitment agencies will

also be slapped with a fine ranging from P500,000 to P1 million.

Olalia also said that POEA is now closely coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and with other concerned agencies for the investigation on the minor’s fake documents, including their fabricated passports.

“We are disclosing this information to make the public aware of the illegal practices of these agencies,

especially those seeking employment overseas. Illegal recruitment and human trafficking have no place in overseas employment,” Olalia said.

Both minors were among the abused and maltreated OFWs who were repatriated earlier this week, and now reunited with their families and provided with necessary reintegration assistance by the government. ###AbegailDeVega

A senior labor official last week renewed calls to invest in human resources as priority in preparing the Filipino workforce in the changing world of work.

Addressing t he 5t h A n nu a l P ubl i c Pol i c y Conference organized by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad stressed the need for “upskilling, reskilling, and retooling” of workforce as a proactive response to the changing demands of the labor market.

to the drastic changes in the global labor market,” Lagunzad said.

The undersecretary also stressed the continuous initiatives of the government in sustaining a competitive workforce that supports and complements the demands of the ever-changing landscape of work.

DOLE, through its labor market information systems, provides timely and relevant information on the current labor market, such as the in-demand jobs and skills shortages that will guide the Filipino workforce, especially the youth, in making informed career decisions.

W h e n c o n f r o nt e d with tough times, others encourage us to push through and be “resilient.”

However, what does being resilient mean and why it is essential to have this trait being a teacher by profession?

Experiencing pupil misbehaviors such as disruptive talking, harassing classmates, verbal insults, defiance, and hostility, ranging from infrequent to frequent, mild to severe, is a thorny issue in everyday classroom and also the things that shape up teachers.

However, exploring resilience among teachers as it relates to the management of challenging learner behavior could provide insights to create a more supportive environment for both teachers and learners in a school context.

Resilience doesn’t just mean getting back to normal after facing a difficult situation. It means learning from the process in order to become stronger and better at tackling the next challenge.

Personally, being resilient allows me to apply the skills and strengths in managing and coping challenges I met inside the classroom. Instead of feeling the misery or hiding from problems with unhealthy coping strategies, I faced life’s difficulties and class challenges with head-on. I handled teaching and learning complications in ways that shows strength and maturity. Thus, I believe resilient teachers appear even stronger every day and are positive in doing their tasks.

Generally, being resilient is my silent answer to the challenges encountered in my daily class engagements. It measures my capacity being the frontline of 21st Century education dealing the diverse millennial who are actively driven by curiosity and exploration.

In line with the implementation of the Alternative Learning System K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum (BEC), the Department of Education through the Alternative Learning System, Misamis Oriental Division conducted a 3-day Seminar-Workshop for District ALS Coordinators and Mobile Teachers on Crafting of the Weekly Lesson Log for Learning Strand 1 to Learning Strand 6, Cloud Computing and Research and Innovation from September 23-25, 2019 in Hotel Conchita, Cagayan de Oro City.

Mrs. Lilian B. Salan, School Head from Balingasag North District was the first speaker in day 1 who discussed Innovation followed by Mr. Gerum O. Salatan, School Head from Claveria District II who tackled Research Management Guidelines and Mr. Michael Benedict Emperador, ICT Coordinator of Manticao District, the last speaker who explained about the importance of cloud computing. Crafting of the weekly lesson logs was done on the second day where ALS Implementers were grouped into seven.

A 3 - d ay s e m i narworkshop was designed to come up with a Weekly Lesson Log intended for ALS Implementers’ utilization in the conduct of their

respective class or session.

Furthermore, the objectives of said training are to provide ALS Implementers with concrete understanding of the ALS K to 12 BEC framework, learning strands and competencies, session plans and assessment and strengthen ALS 2.0 Curriculum Implementation. This is to help carryout the mission and vision of Department of Education.

On the other hand, Dr. Ray Butch D. Mahinay, Regional ALS Focal Person delivered his challenge message during the closing program. He advised each of the ALS Implementer to upgrade professionally - to deliver education to ALS learners with full of knowledge and mastery.

Mr. Andrian F. Tecson, Division ALS Focal Person facilitated the said activity.

The realization of the 3-day seminar-workshop was successfully done through the full collaboration and effort of thirty-seven (37) Mobile Teachers and twenty-four (24) District Alternative Learning System Coordinators.

A Glimpse On Managing 21st Century Classrooms

Change is the only constant thing in the world, as the saying goes. Therefore, if teachers yearn to be effective classroom managers in this present time, then the willingness to undergo change in classroom management practices should be evident.

Learners nowadays are unique. The school should provide opportunities for each of them to discover and develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values.

Every learner should be equipped with the necessary KSAVs in coping and adapting to the changes and challenges of the 21st century world. The curriculum and instructional experiences should be relevant to the needs and interests of the learners. For every difficulty that they may encounter, the teacher is there to inspire and encourage them to keep moving.

Treat them fairly and love them unconditionally.

Every school day isn’t perfect, even for the best teachers; kids are human and will have bad days.

But by establishing clear classroom rules and procedures from the first day of school paves the way for an organized classroom.

When learners know what is expected of them, and these expectations are reinforced daily, there is little room for power struggles between the teacher and the learner or complaints from parents.

Create a few straightforward yet inclusive rules for the classroom. Too many rules will be hard for learners to remember and follow, so try to keep it five or six. This means that the rules need to be broad enough to encompass all the behaviors that want

to be avoided, while being clear enough that learners understand what behavior is expected. Write the rules with the learners. Call them Classroom Expectations to increase positivity. The most effective rules tell learners what they should do, not what they shouldn’t do. Display rules’ poster prominently in the front of the classroom so that everybody may refer to it often.

Classroom structuring provides opportunities for meaningful learning.

So, frames, furniture and seats are properly placed and arranged. Arrange files and instructional materials for easy access; label them properly. Change seating arrangements and styles regularly to allow learners to explore and learn from others. ICT equipment should be suitably installed to aid teaching. Every corner of the room should be utilized.

Learners safety inside the classroom is one of the utmost concerns of teachers.

Conduct of regular inspection and ensuring its safety should be done. Learners should be taught to behave calmly and safely in emergency situations. Adapting a child-friendly environment where learners are equally treated, where differences are embraced and diversity is considered as strength to be productive. Any form of discrimination and bullying is very much discouraged.

Everyone should feel safe and welcome in the school regardless of culture, background and social status.

Lastly, positive behavior and good academic results deserve reward and recognition. Consistently rewarding or recognizing positive behaviors will go a long way.

School administrative assistants must perform various tasks in order to fulfill all demands of the occupation. They typically handle all phone calls coming into a school. They converse with school officials, parents and teachers, handle complaints and address issues pertaining to students and school policies. They also answer emails from administrators, parents and the schools division office.

Dominguez eyes possible solutions to IRA allocation hikes

MANILA -- Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez said on Wednesday the High Court’s ruling increasing local governments’ internal revenue allotment (IRA) is projected to increase the share of government’s budget gap on domestic output.

“That’s going to create a fiscal problem, which in our estimates, without doing anything, would drive up our deficit from 3.2 percent to 4.1 percent (of gross domestic product). That is not acceptable,” he told senators in a hearing.

Last April, the Supreme Court (SC) affirmed with

finality its ruling increasing the IRA, which previously is only 40 percent of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) collections.

Aside from the share from BIR revenues, the SC decision said the IRA should also be taken from, among others, the tariff and duties collected by the Bureau of Customs (BOC), 50 percent of value-added tax (VAT), 30 percent of national taxes collected in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, 60 percent of national taxes collected from the exploitation and development of national wealth, and 85 percent of excise tax from

tobacco products.

To address the impact of the additional expenses on national government, Dominguez raised the possibility of giving to the local governments the responsibility of financing health and education-related expenses, as well as the construction of roads in their areas.

Another option is requesting lawmakers to pass a law that will reduce IRA allocation to 30 percent or for the President to declare as unmanageable the fiscal deficit as a result of the new IRA policies.

Holcim to help Iligan City in waste management

Co-processing is a government-approved and globallyrecognized waste management technology that repurposes non-recyclable qualified discarded materials from various industries into alternative lowcarbon fuels and raw materials used in cement kiln. Among the environmental advantages of co-processing are the extremely high temperatures of kiln and longer treatment time materials that prevent formation of harmful gases.

There are also no residues to be landfilled.

Holcim Philippines is committed to increase its use of low-carbon fuels in cement manufacturing to reduce carbon emissions, cut use of virgin raw materials and contribute to managing wastes in the country in a sustainable manner.

BSP exec cites needs to further enhance capital market

MANILA – The need to introduce further improvements to the Philippines’ capital market has risen especially in recent years to help address the dovish interest rate outlook and slower global growth, among others.

Reliance on banks as major fund source for corporates should be lessened.

Instead, businesses should have greater access to the capital market.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Assistant Governor Johnny Noe Ravalo, in a briefing on the release of the Financial Stability Report for the first half of 2018 until 2019 at the central bank Wednesday, said members of the Financial Stability Coordination Council (FSCC) has recommended three interventions to ensure financial stability in the domestic economy.

These measures are namely fewer but deeper benchmark tenors, indexed bonds, and tenor-based pricing.

Revelo said these proposed interventions are very timely because interest rates are falling and so it financing.

In an interview by journalists, he explained that reducing dependence on banks for funding cannot be done overnight since an economy needs an efficient capital market first to really change the market landscape.

Some 57 MNLF leaders did not accept the agreement and broke away from the MNLF. In 1984 they formally formed the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and continued the Bangsamoro rebellion for an independent state.

C. Negotiations And Final Peace Agreement After years of armed struggle towards independence, the MILF eventually began negotiations for enhanced autonomy, but far superior to that of the partial autonomy that the MNLF had signed with the government. Seventeen years of negotiations concluded with the signing of a final peace agreement in 2014. This created the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The Bangsamoro would exercise their right of self-determination and sovereignty with their own form of government in their own limited territory, within the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippine Republic. It was a win-win solution to a very complex political, cultural, religious, and economic situation.

D. Emergence of Terrorism and more Opened Armed Conflict In 2017 open armed conflict between extremist ISILaffiliated Filipino Muslims erupted in the Muslim city of Marawi, southern Mindanao.

They set fire to the Catholic Cathedral of Marawi and to the Protestant college dormitory, and took several Christians including a Catholic priest as hostages. The five-month siege of Marawi ended with the deaths of the leaders, the Maute brothers, but only after Marawi had been bombarded to flush out the terrorists.

At present, Mindanao is suffering from four types of terrorist attacks, first by the continuing rebellion of the Maute Group (MG) and, second, by the Abu Sayaff Group (ASG), notorious for its kidnap-for-ransom criminal activities. Both groups have pledged allegiance to ISIL. A third open terrorist conflict is with one of three factions of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). This BIFF faction is for independence.

The fourth armed conflict is with the National Democratic Front led by the Communist Party of the Philippines and its military arm, the New Peoples’ Army (NDF/CPP/NPA). It aims ultimately to set up a government, ideologically based on Leninist-Marxist-Mao Tze Dong thought.

In summary, the main causes of armed conflicts are: perceived social injustices, poverty, economic exclusion and marginalization, biases and prejudices, corrupt governance and government neglect.

“So by giving out fair prices, tenor-based, you’re allowing people choices. Do I borrow one-time seven years or do I borrow five years and then borrow two years after the fifth year?

Those are the decisions that have to be made,” he said.

To date, some listed companies are now issuing their bond debt papers, thus, Ravelo said the change will not start from zero because there is already a market for these instruments.

“What we’d like to do going forward is polish whatever we have right now so that a lot more of the SMEs (small and medium enterprise) can go to the capital market instead of just going to the banking industry,” he said.

The BSP executive explained that while there is nothing wrong from borrowing from banks, these financial institutions also get part of their funds from deposits, which account holders can withdraw anytime they want.

This, he pointed out, “comes in a market friction cost and market development cost.”

“Whereas compared to the capital market when an issuer says I’m raising 10year money those who buy the 10-year bond are saying we have 10-year money.

So the tenor mismatch is removed,” he said.

“From that alone that’s going to be a massive improvement already. So it’s the next step but just to be absolutely clear we’re not starting from zero,” he said.

“That’s also why we are growing by six percent because we have a financial market that allows for the economic activities to be financed,” he added. (PNA)

Friday, September 27, 2019 perience and observation, achieving peace is a journey of dialogue. I update this conviction with the landmark Abu Dhabi document, “Human Fraternity” that was signed by the Pope and by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar.

We see this journey to peace in the experience of the peace panels of the MILF and the Philippine government.

They embarked on a journey of dialogue, requiring openness, patient listening and endurance, marked by detours and threats of suspension.

Fundamentally their dialogue for peace was a journey from hostility and suspicion to understanding and mutual trust.

1. Inter-Faith Dialogue My own basic experience was and continues to be Interfaith Dialogue with Muslims, other Christians, and believers of traditional religions, i.e., indigenous peoples. This takes several levels: F. Dialogue of Life in everyday interaction in offices, schools, in markets and business establishments; G. Dialogue of Religious Experiences, when peoples of different faiths share together how and when they pray, what they pray for, what their respective faiths mean for them, their experience of the Divine, etc; H. Dialogue of Theological Exchange, when religious leaders share their doctrinal beliefs about God, Creation and Environment, their holy books and traditions, Jesus and Mary, Redemption, Salvation, etc.; I. Dialogue of Action, when after dialogue on social issues they move into collaborative action for the social transformation of their communities.

In my experience it is imperative that permanent channels or structures for dialogue between members of different faiths, with civil society and government are set up.

2. Intra-Faith Dialogue to Address Terrorism and Biases Terrorism is an ideology that has no borders. It is irreligious. Its claim to be religious is based on a misinterpretation and selective as well as manipulative understanding of the texts of sacred revelation.

Hence authentic and authoritative teachers of religion have strongly condemned violent extremists and terrorists as irreligious. All religions are religions of peace. The name of the God of peace cannot be

invoked to kill and maim or massacre.

For this reason it is my conviction that the need of the hour against terrorism as well as against biases and prejudices is intra-faith dialogue.

Local Christian pastors, ulama, ustadz, imams need to form the minds and hearts of their constituents in the true holistic teachings of their respective faiths, teachings such as respect for human dignity and fundamental human rights, understanding of and respect for other faiths, love of neighbor, and common pilgrimage to the Reign of God. Such formation has to begin in the home, within the family, and has to extend to formal and informal education in madaris and schools, forming individuals to become persons of dialogue and peace – persons with hearts of peace. The heart of peace is peace in the heart.

This is the first time ROAD SAFETY PROJECT supported by Dr.Angelito Umali of UNICEF ChildhoodTraffic Injured Prevention Program for the whole Philippines it’s purpose is to iradicate road crashes especially to youth sector . According to World Health Organization (WHO) last 2018 over 10,634 died in our country 2,600 ages from

15-21 years old died in road accident such as road crossing and road crashes.

Over 500 students from 25 participating public schools from the City participated the said project. According to LTO IX RD Atty Abaton “we need first to educate the children in advocating road safety second, we need to start while we are young, so that we can have a responsible citizenry” .

Dr. Umali of UNICEF said that their project is to teach children how they better protect themselves especially when they go to the roads. And evaluating the roads especially in urbanized city like Zamboanga City of prioritizing students safety along the road.
