MARAWI City--Hundreds of volunteers turned up on Wednesday to clean Barangay Matampay of debris, ISIS graffiti, and filth from the four months of fighting that devastated this city. Marawi Mayor Majul Usman Gandamra said they are doing this so when almost 200,000 residents who fled will eventually come home, they will find the city already clean. “We want to erase any traces of the fighting. We want the residents to come home to a city that is clean,”

Senate Bill 1592 or TRAIN seeks to exempt P150,000 annual taxable income, while retaining the P82,000 tax exemption for 13th month pay and other bonuses and the maximum
P100,000 additional exemption for up to four dependents. Under the bill, a Teacher I with a monthly salary of P20,179 (Salary Grade 11) can have annual savings from income taxes of up to P18,987, depending on the number of dependents.
