CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Even before he was cutting his teeth as a lawyer and teacher, Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr., without question one of this City of Golden Friendship’s Golden Boys, started out as a cub reporter for the Mindanao Star, then the No. 1 weekly newspaper in the city. The late Manuel Quisumbing, Sr., who was fondly known as Mr. Q, was editor-in-chief and the future Senator of the Philippines was in the company of an illustrious band of writers and journalists who represented the cream of Cagayan de Oro’s men and women of letters at the time: Sarah Velez, Ronulfo Sabanal, Pureza Ramos, Eustaquio Gonzales. “The newspapers of that

time tended to be more tame and sedate than those we have today. News which used to be relegated to the tabloids then are now making headlines in the broadsheets.” Eventually, Nene became Legal Counsel for the Cagayan de Oro Press Club when he finished law school and passed the bar. He was also appointed in the same capacity for the Mindanao Press Club in 1963, when Mr. Q became president of that organization. Later, when Nene was elected as the Cagayan de Oro delegate to the Constitutional Convention of the 70’s, he rejoined the media as a columnist for Mindanao Star. DILG-10 calls on Sanggunian members to focus on conflict-affected brgys

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- In the essence of operationalizing the “Whole-ofNation Approach” to end the local communist armed conflict, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) 10 urged the Sanggunian members to focus on the 27 conflictaffected barangays in the Region. DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe presented this challenge during the Program for Newly-Elected Officials, orienting the local legislators of the region. “We hope to strengthen the operationalization of EO 70 through convergence and coherence of efforts of the national line agencies and local government units at all levels, and our Sanggunians play a vital role in this mission of ending insurgency,” Agabe said. The Regional Director said that for now, the priority conflict-affected barangays are those that need the immediate delivery of services the most. With this, Sanggunian members’ intervention is essential to ensure that the government will be felt in these barangays. Accor adds 3,400 new rooms to Philippines network THE current big boy of hospitality Accor, has revealed that it will be adding significant girth to its network in the Philippines today with a record-setting nine new hotels signed this year which will be managed by the group. The expansion plan will boost the leading hotel operator’s presence in the country from eight hotels with 2,127 rooms to 22 hotels with over 5,500 rooms within the next five years. With 38 brands within its portfolio, Accor is on a rapid expansion phase, particularly in the luxury and lifestyle sectors across the Asia Pacific region.

Patrick Basset, Accor’s COO– Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives, said: “Philippines is a market with great potential, and our recent signings underlines Accor’s long-term commitment to the vibrant nation. Last year, the travel and tourism industry was the fastest-growing sector in the Philippines. We are delighted to showcase even more of the Philippines with a wider choice of accommodation that makes as much sense for our hotel owners as much as it does for our guests.” The nine new hotels signed represent an additional 2,155 rooms, in-

creasing the group’s total pipeline to 14 new hotels in the Philippines with over 3,400 new rooms. The 14 new properties include the introduction of six brands which will make their debut in the Philippines including – Pullman Living, MGallery, Swissôtel, Novotel Living, and Ibis Styles. The Philippines is already home to Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Mövenpick, Novotel and Mercure brands. Andrew Langdon, Accor’s SVP of development – Asia, said: “With nine hotels signed to date in the Philippines, we have doubled the existing portfolio in just over nine months,

and expect to add two more hotels with a combined 500 rooms by the end of 2019. We have further diversified our brand offering with the introduction of six Accor hotels and extended stay brands into the country.” Accor has the largest pipeline in Asia Pacific and opened 128 hotels in the region last year. The group opens, on average, a new hotel every 36 hours globally and in Asia Pacific opens a new hotel every three days.

Hints and Traces

Sure-fire formula for true joy CHRIST has told us about this formula. Let’s closely follow the kind of equation he presented to achieve this true and complete joy. “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” (Jn 15, 9-11) In other words, joy can only be an effect of love. And the true, complete joy, not the fake, shallow and deceptive one, can only come from a genuine love that in its turn can only come from Christ. As he said, “My joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” This genuine love that produces the true joy is a matter of keeping the commandments of God, both the old and the new, as kept and lived very faithfully by Christ and as Christ himself gives it to us. Let us not be deceived by another source

of joy. It can only be fake and harmful in the end. How can we describe this true, complete joy? To be sure, it is not something confined exclusively to what is sensibly pleasant and sweet, emotionally uplifting and exhilarating or intellectually stimulating. It is not just a matter of sentiments. It is not just a fair-weather type of joy. It is a joy that covers all the possible situations that we can be in, including what are opposed to what is sensibly pleasant, emotionally uplifting, etc. It can thrive even in the harshest of our human condition. It is a joy that while it can be felt sensibly, emotionally, intellectually, is first of all spiritual and supernatural. It is a gift from God that while freely given needs to be merited by us precisely by keeping the commandments of God. We need to make the pertinent adjustments in our understanding of the nature, character and source

of joy. It should not just be a function of material and temporal factors. We should not rely on these factors which, unfortunately, many people today consider as the main causes for joy. True joy has to be understood from the point of view of our Christian faith. It has to be pursued and developed by our active relationship with Christ, always activating our faith and making our faith the main guide in our reactions to things and in our general behavior. Joy should be a constant and permanent feature in our life. Yes, it has to be worked on, but as long as our life in general is inspired by faith, this true joy that Christ gives us will always be with us. We need to outgrow our tendency to understand joy in merely human, natural, material and temporal terms. Toward this end, we have to closely follow the example of Christ who was willing to suffer and die for our sins. Yes, it is a joy that is compatible with pain and

suffering, with ‘blood, sweat and tears.’ It is a joy that will always give us peace and a sense of confidence even in the midst of trials and difficulties. We have to actively spread this good news about true joy, and help teach everyone how to be truly united and identified with Christ so as to attain this joy. Let’s remember this sure-fire formula of joy. Let’s hope that we can create a culture and an environment that is marked by this kind of joy, so that in every corner of the world, where man is found, this joy can be seen irrespective of the circumstances of anyone’s condition. It should be such that joy becomes a living and active feature in the world, always capable of spreading more and more widely.

Breaking free THINK a minute… Years ago I visited someone in prison. I was deeply saddened as I watched all those people locked up, living their life inside a little room. tragically, although many of us have never been convicted of a crime, we still live our entire lives locked inside a prison. Saddest of all, we are the ones who build the walls that hold us inside, so we are not free to live our life to the fullest. We become our own worst enemy—through our own wrong thinking about ourselves. Someone said: “When you lose your confidence, you lose the battle.” In zoos a baby elephant is tied with a strong steel chain

to a large post. At first, the young elephant pulls and tries to break free from the chain; but finally it gives up and stops trying. After that, only a thin rope is needed to tie that huge, powerful elephant down and stop it from moving anywhere. For the rest of its life that elephant believes the lie that it is too weak to break that thin little rope, so it never even tries again! Sadly, in a similar way, if I let myself believe I cannot go any farther in life, even though it is not true, then I won’t. That is the destructive power of believing the lies of my own wrong thinking about myself. The enemy I

am fighting is in my own mind. But it can happen the other way too. “Nearly every man wastes part of his life trying to show abilities he does not have to get other people’s approval he cannot keep.” A popular T.V. program in the U.S. is American Idol. It lets ordinary people show their singing talent. The problem is some of them have no singing talent at all! Yet they believe they do! Remember: “You can’t put in what God left out.” So don’t waste your life trying to succeed at something you were not made to do. There’s a saying: “The best psychologist is the one

inside you.” But that is only true if the One Who created you is the One living inside you. Only He can help you know and become the person He designed you to be. So won’t you ask Jesus to help you break out of the prison of your wrong thinking and sinful living? If you ask Him to forgive and free you, He can help you to start seeing and being all that He created you to be. Just think a minute…

From simple campaign and promotion of the school to attract hundred percent participation to the therapy of usual infraction from school policies. The home visit plays its crucial role. It gives an idea to the member of school community that they are important and gives them the sense of belongingness. It builds rapport and break down barriers among parents and school. More so, it shares policies and information. Home visit aims to uplift the quality of service the school is giving to the students and community

where they belong. A family that has been visited may feel the warm hug of the school and thus motivate them to participate in its vision and mission endeavors – which we called commitment. Engagement is the actual meeting of the teacher to the parents/ guardian in the home of the students. In the conduct of the home visitation program, teachers should be courteous and humble to the family. Greet the parents and family. Use courteous expressions. Introduce yourself briefly. Tell them that you are the teacher-adviser of their child and it is your responsibility to conduct the home visitation. Explain to them that the aim of home visitation is to improve the performance of their child, to provide them necessary support, and much

more to express the concern of the school. Always remember you are there to deliver them warmly the care for their child’s welfare. And definitely, find ways of getting the information needed into relax and sincere way. If possible let the parents open up about their child and its behavior. It is also desirable if the parents themselves identify the root of the problem. To a more valid extent, be alert in remembering an anecdote which may be shared by parents. Another factor that may be considered is the medical history of the child. Further, academic behavior itself and treatment given to the child by the teachers. Look for some substantial experiences of the student that may be related to its behavior or performances.

AQUILINO “NENE” PIMENTEL, JR.:

“From time to time, there appear on the face of the earth men with rare and consummate excellence who dazzle us by their virtue, and whose outstanding qualities shed a stupendous light. Like those extraordinary stars of whose origins we are ignorant and whose fate once they have vanished, we know even less, such men have neither forebears nor descendants: they are the whole of their race.”

NDEED, no greater love there is than a fearless man who is willing to give his life so that others may be free. Sen. Nene did what was probably the most difficult task in the restoration of democracy in the Philippines. A freedom-fighter, Sen. Nene was imprisoned four times during the 14year Martial Law Rule. During those painful years, a poem, Veritas Liberabit Vos” loomed: “My name is Veritas. So simple is my language. Mankind runs after me because I am a precious position. But to the rule of a dictator, I am a threat, so I have to be imprisoned. But there will always be lovers who will search for me because they cannot live without my presence. Dictators do not know that in the silence of the prison cell, I am gaining strength. One day, when the Filipino people are awakened, I will burst out in the open and through a people

powered revolution, I will unfetter the people from oppression. Indeed Veritas Liberabit Vos!” (The Truth shall set us fee!) After Martial Law, it was so amazing how he dismantled the entire martial law apparatus by replacing en masse incumbent officials with handpicked officers-incharge. A brilliant lawyer, he had been the Dean of the College of Law of Xavier University, then becoming the City Mayor of Cagayan de Oro. He was one of the chosen few who framed the 1987 Constitution that amazingly captured the essence of cooperativism in Chapter XV, Article XII, “to promote the viability and growth of cooperatives as instruments of social justice, equity and economic development,” to pave the way to institutionalize “people power” through cooperatives to transform

a highly skewed pyramidal societal order not through armed struggle but through cooperativism by harnessing peacefully the collective power of the people. Sen. Nene had seen cooperativism as the one to democratize wealth and power which is under the strangled hold of the oligarchs in a country where 73% of the economy is controlled by just 200 families. Through that empowerment constitutional provision, then Senator Nene who later became the Senate President co-authored the twin laws: RA 6938 (the Cooperative Code of the Philippines) and RA 6939 (The Creation of the Cooperative Development Authority). Sen. Nene also shepherded the enactment of the crucial Local Government Code which included the LGU’s mandate to advance cooperativism in their respective territorial jurisdiction. The amazing mindset of a transformative leader has indeed been manifested in the said laws especially in debunking gross social inequities and social injustices which have been looming in so many ways. These are evident in the life of the farmers tilling land that they do

not own or if they do, they do not control the mode of production and marketing. That’s the reason why everyone is profiting from farming except those who struggled to make the land productive – the poor farmers. In a land controlled by Cartel, our beloved Nene wanted to rectify a social wrong especially in the life of the eleven (11) million member-consumerowners (MCOs) of the so-called Electric Cooperatives. Sen. Nene’s counter measure then was the provision in the law creating CDA that it is “the “sole

registering office” of all types of cooperatives” and that all agencies of government which are doing registration especially the National Electrification Authority (NEA) must turn-over the registering power to CDA but it never happened manifesting how powerful the electric cartel is. Let us make the “Father of Cooperativism” our model in advancing “Transformative Cooperatives for People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace,” so that the cooperatives can become a countervailing force against poverty, gross inequities, social injustices, ecological turbulence due to climate change and violent extremism which is so alarming as manifested recently by a Filipino suicidal bomber. Sen. Nene was not only the father of the cooperatives, he was a cooperative hero and champion, bringing a beacon of light during those martial law years and a beacon of hope amidst poverty and social inequities. crafted cooperativism as the countervailing force to effect social transformation which is the real essence of cooperativism in a world beset with so much consumerism and materialism. As Sen. Nene’s remains will soon be buried, what comes to my mind is the 12th stanza of the 17th century poem written by Thomas Grey in a Country Churchyard, to quote: “Perhaps in this neglected spot is laid, some heart once pregnant with celestial fire, hands that the rod of empire might have sway’d, or walked to ecstasy the living lyre.” To our dearlybeloved hero, father and champion, you had lived with us with that “celestial fire” to advance cooperativism as a liberating force to make life better for the poor and the oppressed. Where ever you are, now with us, then with the stars and in the loving embrace of the Being, you must now walk to ecstasy the living lyre, all for God’s greater glory – with our firm salute and warm embrace. All the more than 10 million members of the cooperatives all over the country are now shouting: WE LOVE YOU SEN. NENE! Marami pong salamat!

(We are bringing back this vignette on Cagayan de Oro’s beloved statesman first published in Business World back in 2006 as our tribute to his heritage to us journalists in the Cagayan de Oro Press Club where he was a member for life.) CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Even before he was cutting his teeth as a lawyer and teacher, Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr., without question one of this City of Golden Friendship's Golden Boys, started out as a cub reporter for the Mindanao Star, then the No. 1 weekly newspaper in the city. The late Manuel Quisumbing, Sr., who was fondly known as Mr. Q, was editor-in-chief and the future Senator of the Philippines was in the company of an illustrious band of writers and journalists who represented the cream of Cagayan de Oro's men and women of letters at the time: Sarah Velez, Ronulfo Sabanal, Pureza Ramos, Eustaquio Gonzales. "The newspapers of that time tended to be more tame and sedate than those we have today. News which used to be relegated to

the tabloids then are now making headlines in the broadsheets." Eventually, Nene became Legal Counsel for the Cagayan de Oro Press Club when he finished law school and passed the bar. He was also appointed in the same capacity for the Mindanao Press Club in 1963, when Mr. Q became president of that organization. Later, when Nene was elected as the Cagayan de Oro delegate to the Constitutional Convention of the 70's, he rejoined the media as a columnist for Mindanao Star. He also wrote a column for The Manila Times for a year in 1994. We asked, “Is there a basis for government's criticism of today's media as overly critical of the present administration to the point of overlooking its good points and accomplishments?”

“There is a basis for the criticism. Negatives are emphasized more than the positives. Crime, sex and violence are sensationalized. However, overall, we are beginning to get responsible reporting. The Philippine Daily Inquirer's battle with the windmills of influence in this country is good for the nation. The Philippine Star is also fast gaining the same reputation.” “However, the print media in Cagayan de Oro today tends to be abrasive and condemnatory of public officials without convincing evidence of their allegations, thus maligning people in the process. Sources are not always verified and grave abuse has been committed in a number of cases. I hope our journalists could be a little more concerned about people even if they are in public office and the basis for complaints regarding the public service should be properly verified.” “On a scale of 1-10, the local print media is 7 on the average, with a lot of room left for improvement. In contrast, newspapermen of Mr. Q's heyday in the Mindanao Star were first

and foremost trained to be accurate in their reporting. Mr. Q was a veteran newspaperman who was also an instructor for the journalism course then offered by Xavier University, and his writing, as well as those of the reporters working under him, were founded on accuracy." The former senator has also authored four legal tomes to date: “The Local Government Code of 1991: The Key to National Development and Barangays” and “The Local Government Code,” both published by Rex Book Store; “Cooperatives: Theory and Practice” and “Primer on Cooperatives,” both published by Cacho Hermanos. However, he is in the process of writing a totally different book entitled “Politics and Religion,” started while he was still in the Senate and which he personally works on a little at a time. The book is based on his experience in politics and reflects his desire “to stress the fact it is time to imbue our political process with a spiritual dimension which should permeate the

whole political spectrum.” “We have the spirit of renewal in the hearts of our people as the only Christian nation in the Far East. New generations actively handling political power should not forget we can start renewing only when you go back to the fundamentals of your religion, as long as he believes in God to use his talent and make religion relevant to his life as a citizen.” “The Ten Commandments tell us “Thou shall not steal,” yet politicians steal all the time. It likewise tells us “Thou shall not kill,” yet politicians are probably responsible for more deaths than any other professions.” At present, Nene writes a column for Teddy Berbano's “MoneyAsia” and Oscar Jornacion's “California Express,” a FilipinoAmerican newspaper based in the US. The 1967 edition of the Xavier University Yearbook edited by Rico Nazario was dedicated to outstanding XU graduates, among them Nene Pimentel. Nene was XU High School Class 1952

and became dean of the XU Law School in 1967. The tribute to Nene on the 1967 Yearbook reads: “From the class ’52, Aquilino Pimentel Jr. has risen to occupy the seat of the Dean of the College of Law of Xavier University.” “Commenting on his profession, he stated that the practice of law is interesting and challenging. Interesting, because there never is a dull moment in the study and trial of a case. Challenging, because one’s convictions are often put to the test whenever a case is accepted and tried in the courts of law.” Thanks to Ramoncito Ocampo Cruz, XUGS Class 1967 for reconstituting Nene’s picture from this yearbook. Gov’t makes unprecedented record in bid to end contractualization By PERLA LENA

THE Duterte administration has made an “unprecedented” accomplishment in terms of regularizing contractual workers in the country, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said on Tuesday. “Under the term of the President, we were able to regularize 504,000. The President can simply say that he is complying with

his commitment to end once and for all illegal contractual arrangements,” he said in an interview. Bello graced the launching of the “Gugma (love) Day” program of Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Julienne Baronda. The labor secretar y said no president has ever achieved what the Duterte administration has done. He cited that ShoeMart (SM), the biggest retail busi-

ness in the country has committed to regularize 10,000 workers annually. DOLE Philippines has already provided security of tenure to more than 50 percent of its employees. Jollibee, a fast food chain, has also committed to regularize 3,000 workers every year. In Western Visayas, some 11,000 workers were given regular status from its 15,000 target this year.

Meanwhile, he reiterated that the labor department is “totally against the proposed bill” seeking to extend the probation period of workers to two years. A famous saying by Michael Morpurgo says that “it’s the teacher that makes the difference and not the classroom”; true indeed, it always boils down to relationships that at the end of the day, what matters most is our relationship with the teachers, with the pupils. Successful teachers are those that have the ability to maximise the learning potential of all pupils in their class. While it is intact that pupils should be provided with the best quality of education by the teachers, it is an accessory to the func-

Social media is one of 21st Century’s timely facets to date. It has been dubbed as the “easiest mediums to deliver information in this digital age using the latest on-hand technologies,”. The internet has about 4.4 billion users, with at most 79% are social media users. On average, people spend a hefty amount of time on these platforms daily, which makes its impact very significant. It reconstructs social disposition, influences our lifestyle and outlook on a lot of things and it helps us thrive in this fast, developing world. Moreover, as it continues to affect each part of our daily status, education has been using social media in anyway that it could serve as a helping tool and a new learning ground for students. In addition, it creates factors which could give rise to new potential solutions on student teaching and learning. Since social media is a requisite place for interaction, with most of the young students of the generation are already part of, schools are now starting to use social media as a medium for learning process and performance assessment. One example to note is the project-based “likes”. This happens when class activities such as projects or home works are done through social media intervention, via posting and assessment of such activities lies on how

much “likes” the outputs have gained. Deped’s stand on the matter is upright, as it is just right for it to be “highly discouraged” in classroom setups. It may be a good tool for showcasing the student’s potentials; however, the use of it to evaluate the students performance will not improve their abilities and capacities. It is a shallow validation that is purely advantageous on social aspect; the more reactions and interaction that post have, the more “likes” it gains. The more “likes” it gain, the higher the chances it has for obtaining a high credit. This clearly does not help towards building and understanding the true meaning of learning process. It doesn’t teach students to value their work, but only entails the means it needs to go through in order to get the product of labor: high grades. The use of social media for educational purposes is relevant today; however, educators must see that the reality in social media is very harsh. It shouldn’t be entirely used as a means for performance delivery and evaluation. Project-based “likes” does not specifically define the student’s ability as it only stresses on the social aspect of solidified support from relationships and not of the utmost core of the performance itself. Therefore, it shouldn’t be a norm in schools.

Teachers’ intervention in addressing bullying By CHEVIE B. GALARIO

Bullying is rampant in schools nowadays. Learners tend to bully their own classmates and schoolmates, sometimes with no apparent reason; in some case, teachers bully the learners or the other way around. It is but an integral part of school management to also address bullying to achieve a peaceful learning environment for the learners. Now, here are some interventions and strategies that teachers can use and maximize in order to address bullying in the classrooms and among learners. One, you can provide classroom activities and discussions related to bullying and violence, including the harm that they cause and strategies to reduce their incidence. Involve students in establishing classroom rules against bullying and steps they can take if they see it happening. For example, students could work together to create the classroom signs mentioned previously. Second, you can teach them cooperation by assigning projects that requires collaboration. Such cooperation teaches students how to compromise and how to assert without demanding. Take care to vary grouping of participants and to monitor the treatment of and by participants in each group. Of course, a teacher should take immediate action when bullying is observed. All teachers must let children know they care and will not allow anyone to be mistreated. By taking immediate action

and dealing directly with the bully, adults support both the victim and the witnesses. Confront bullies in private because challenging bullies in front of their peers may actually enhance their status and lead to further aggression. Avoid attempts to mediate a bullying situation. The difference in power between victims and bullies may cause victims to feel further victimized by the process or to believe they are somehow at fault. Refer both victims and aggressors to counseling when appropriate. Provide protection for bullying victims when necessary. Such protection may include creating a buddy system whereby students have a particular friend or older buddy on whom they can depend and with whom they share class schedule information and plans for the school day. And of course, notify parents of both victims and bullies when confrontations occur, and seek to resolve the problem expeditiously at school. The teacher must listen receptively to parents who report bullying, and investigate reported circumstances so immediate and appropriate school action may be taken. These are just some of the interventions that teachers can do and implement in managing bullying among learners. And, as a public school teacher, it is of best pursuit to prevent this kind of incidents so that learners can have a motivating learning environment.

KIDAPAWAN CIT Y -The city government of Kidapawan extended help to earthquake victims even outside its area, distributing 30 sacks of rice in the municipality of Tulunan, epicenter of the magnitude 6.3 temblor that hit Mindanao last week. Psalmer Bernalte, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led the Kidapawan delegation in turning over the rice to their counterparts in Tulunan Monday. Bernalte told media that their assistance to Tulunan, among those hardly hit in the earthquake, was based on a resolution approved earlier by the CDRRMC chaired by Mayor Joseph Evangelista. The mayor said that although his city was also hit by the quake, Tulunan suffered heavy losses and need help from neighboring towns. In school, one of the most common dilemma in a classroom setting is of pupils misunderstanding their teachers; that their teachers are favouring classmate A over classmate B. This is a common cause of pupils having envy from their another classmate. Now, here then plays the vital role of a teacher on how he or she will handle situations like this. Of course, the only cure for this is that as teachers, we

should and we shall treat our pupils fairly and squarely. At all times, we shall never show that we like and we love pupil A over pupil B or that we show hatred or dislike between the two. The effect of this to our pupils will surely be visible in the classroom, like, if pupil B feels that he or she is being dislike, this will probably resort to non-participation of pupil B in any classroom discussion even to extra-curricular activities. Thus at all times, we should treat them all equally. If situation calls for example

that we, teachers, might over mentioned a certain pupil only because he does good in the class, and that we even praise and appreciate him, also, do that to all of your students as well. We should never compare pupil A from pupil B and the like. As teachers, let us be reminded that each of our pupil is unique in their own little ways. Certainly, if we find one pupil as weak and slow learner, let us never condemned those in front of the class, instead let us encourage them to do their best next time around, or if we

want to focus on him, call their attention secretly and not in front of class as this might create mockery and bullying inside the classroom. As teachers, let us all be sensitive to the feelings and needs of our school children, our pupils. Yes, we are here to give them the best quality education they ought to deserve but let us not forget of the other functions we have to perform, and that is being and standing as their second mothers and second fathers in the school.
