HERE’s the long and short of the water situation in the Cagayan de Oro City’s West Service Area, Delivery of the contracted bulk water supply by Rio Verde Water Consortium Inc. (RVWCI) to the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) resumed noon last Saturday, 07 October 2017 with a continuous flow rate of 1,700 cubic meters per hour (cmph), or not less than 40,000 cu.m. per day (m3/ day). CAGAYAN de Oro City-Northern Mindanao’s premier culinary competition Kumbira, which was scrapped for the first time in 20 years during the annual fiesta celebration last August, will push through with a two-day November slate. Nollie Arguelles, secretary of the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (Cohara) which organizes the event, reported that they had garnered enough sponsorships for Kumbira 2017 to finally be realized on November 22 to 23 at the same venue it had called home the past two decades, Limketkai Atrium. It can be recalled that Kumbira 2017 was abruptly ditched while the city government was in the midst of fiesta preparations, citing lack of sponsorships and pullout

there is regulation which requires studies and measures to preclude adverse impact of biotech crop to wild relatives and testing of the insecticide produced by the plant on non-target organisms. She added that food safety issues are also assessed by regulatory system using the Codex alimentarius guidelines, a collection of internationally recognized standards, codes of practice, guidelines and other recommendations relating to foods, food production and food safety. Halos revealed that in terms of regulation, GM crops is regulated in many aspects including to ensure food and environmental safety; social, ethical and economic issues considered. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are products developed through genetic engineering. Scientists have developed different crops with enhanced characteristics. Aside from plants that have built-in insect repellent, some plants have been developed to resist weed killer applications, fight diseases, withstand intense heat from the sun, produce nutritious oils, delay ripening. Further, biotech crops undergo a long

process of testing and evaluation before they become available in the market. Among the GM crops planted all over the world include soybean, corn, cotton, canola, sugar beet, squash, potato, eggplant and papaya among others. In the Philippines, biotech (BT) yellow corn is the only one yet available in the market. This is used as animal feed and use as food and processing. Biotech Maize has been planted in the Philippines since 2003 of about 6.03 million hectares according to International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA). In terms of global perspective, Dr. Lourdes D. Taylo, University Researcher of University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) shares that the global population is increasing. There is hidden hunger due to malnutrition, nutritional deficiency, vitamin A deficiency and as a result, 500,000 children go blind. Bankers form PPMI to support national payment THE Philippine Payments Management, Inc. (PPMI) which was established following the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to assist the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in implementing initiatives for the National Retail Payment System (NRPS). The PPMI will act as a supporting body of the BSP by monitoring proper implementation and progress of NRPS to achieve its endgoal of a more accessible and competitive financial system through digitization of financial transactions. “PPMI will organize, direct clearing participants into a self-governing body and assist the BSP in overseeing the development and operations of the retail payment system. It will help ensure that the country will soon have an interconnected electronic retail payment system,” said the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) president Nestor Tan. The newly organized body is the product of a mutual agreement between BSP and BAP to create a shared clearing and settlements system for the Philippine financial system. The PPMI not only includes banks as the BSP targets to increase electronic retail payment transactions to twenty percent (20%) by 2020, the PPMI will help ensure that the playing field among financial service providers in the country is competitive and responsive to the needs of the consumers. “With the advent of technology, the PPMI can help in recommending policies to the BSP and various agencies towards a more financially inclusive economic system for the Filipinos through cooperation and competition from various financial service providers,” Tan said. The NRPS is expected to help Filipinos access financial services and carry out financial transactions anytime and anywhere at a reasonable price through the use of innovative technology that will enhance the safety, speed and convenience of delivering financial services by the financial service providers on one hand, and of the availment of such services by the consumers on the other. It is also the cut-throat competition among the airline industry that leads to the downturn in the shipping industry. Obviously, the Aboitiz group of companies, one of the largest shipping lines in the country, then, has to re-engineer business perspective in order to survive the “drought in the sea.” Usually, a drought only occurs in the land, but in the case of the shipping industry, the drought seems to have dried down the seas. I propose an immediate resolution of this charge by Lopez when the Department of Justice starts conducting the preliminary investigation on the cases that are to be filed against him. Safe and sound

AFTER several days staying in Manila with an amazing schedule, I am finally back in my beloved Davao City. Thank you Lord. Right now, while writing this piece, I am - so-to-say - in “safe mode”. Innumerable meetings in the German Embassy but also invitations from different diplomatic institutions made me really breathless. On the other hand, I also did enjoy every single minute. But now, I am in safe mode indeed! From time to time I love silence. I love the quietness. - Do you observe that we live in a real frightful loud world? At every corner of our daily life are innumerable chances of being covered up with sometimes

unbearable din and noise. The loud outcry gives us the needle. We don’t have nerves of steel forever. I am not really a fan of going out at night. My stay in Manila was packed full with night events I was invited to as German Honorary Consul to the island of Mindanao. It’s indeed amazing, how many countries and business people are getting more and more interested in Mindanao. Very good! Right now, I am enjoying the nicest occurrence which is the silence, the intimate taciturnity, which can even “weld” people or partners together. It might sound just like an idiomatic expression, but believe me; not being forced to talk is great! No, I don’t mean that

we have nothing to say to each other any more - or, he or she won’t listen to a special reason... . I am talking about a deep understanding between people, who are together and are able to share time in quiet and silent happiness. After those long and strenuous days in Manila, is it a real big comfort to sit and lean back, read all the (old!) newspapers and magazines from the last days and weeks while enjoying a glass of wine and a handful peanuts while having a smooth radio program in the background, instead a “roars to hell” television show. Try it. It’s indeed relaxing after traffic woes, the heat and dust of the day,

5-B unused Yolanda fund to be realigned for Marawi rehab COTABATO City--A national government fund intended for the rehabilitation of areas affected by the November 2013 super typhoon “Yolanda” will be diverted for rehabilitation of Marawi, Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao told a press conference Friday. Hataman said the the amount will be used for transitional shelter for Marawi residents displaced by the war “and other infrastructure prospects” with the help of the ARMM’s Public Works and Highways department. Defense Undersecretary Delfin Lorenza on September 28 told a media seminar on disaster risk reduction and management in Subic, Zambales that the rehabilitation of Marawi City will be partly funded by the money allocated for Yolanda rehabilitation efforts. He said Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno allocated P5 billion to build temporary shelters, and other priority projects. Lorenzana in early September told the Senate Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabiilitation that at least P50 billion is needed to fund the rehabilitation of the country’s lone Islamic City. “Ballpark figure ko lang ‘yung P50 billion. It will cover everything…structure of buildings, either public or prviate,” Lorenzana was quoted by GMA News Online. “Everything na, infrastructure, roads, bridges, public buildings, plus mga private properties na, if we are going to rebuild private properties,” he added. Local developer breaks ground for P1-B project DAVAO CITY -- A homegrown real property builder on Friday launched P1 billion hotel and condomimium project on the busy strip of J.P Laurel Avenue here. The development project is set for completion in 2020. Santos Land Development Corp. president Antonio S. Domingo said the project -- the Obsidian Suites Hotel and the Ivory Residences Condominium, is its first after 46 years of developing low-cost subdivisions in Davao City. Domingo said this marks a significant diversification into new business venture of the company on tourism, business and recreational facilities.

Santos Land took the next step in its growth and expansion driven by the increasing demand of the market in the city. “A homegrown player like us saw this huge opportunity he said just like other players of Metro Manila and from other areas as they look at the growth potential of Davao”, he added. DAVAO CITY -- The Biodiesel Fuel Plant continues to provide 1,000 liters of fuel daily since its launching last August. The plant’s operation is still under pilot test providing fuel for the city’s garbage trucks and 30 public utility vehicles. “The capacity of the processing plant is only good for 1,000 L per day so we stick to that amount of used cooking oil for our daily collection,” CENRO supervising environmental management specialist Dolly Remojo said. Remojo said if there is a second shift for the processing of the biodiesel fuel then they could collect more used cooking oil. However, this would put too much strain on the machine. The city government launched the biodiesel plant in August this year with a 1000L processing capacity. Unless there is additional equipment at the plant, then that’s the maximum processing capacity for now. “Of the 1,000 liters of

used cooking oil processed, the output is 90 percent while the remaining 10 percent is considered wastage but is still mixed with compost,” Remojo said. The city collects the used cooking oil from 45 establishments in the city, most of them fast food chains. Only four barangays have participated in the project including Sasa, Mintal, and Hizon. While the project was launched in Barangay Crossing Matina, the collection in the said barangay has not been pursued due to the lack of donations from the area. The processed biodiesel fuel is used to fuel six of CENRO’s garbage trucks and vehicles plus the Mighty Might which was described as a small backhoe. The plant is located at the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) composting facility in Maa and is still limited to processing 1,000 liters of fuel per day due to machine capacity. DAVAO CITY—About 40 families of at least a hundred individuals living along a landslide-prone area at the Shrine Hills along the Carlos P. Garcia Highway, will be evacuated and temporarily transferred to the city government’s site in Los Amigos, Tugbok, this city. “As per advice by the mayor (Mayor Sara-DuterteCarpio) the residents of the area affected by the landslide should leave the area and will be evacuated temporarily in Los Amigos,” City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (CDRRMC) operations and warning officer Rodrigo Bustillo said. He said based on scientific data given by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) the area already pose a danger to residents since there is a big crack on that part of the 7th Day Adventist property. The CDRRMC has strengthened the conduct of its regular risk assessment considering the daily rains and occurrences of

earthquakes in the area. On Thursday night, a landslide occurred at Shrine Hills, closing the highway to heavy vehicles like trucks. The 2013 revised Davao City Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance declared Shrine Hills an Urban Ecological Enhancement Subzone. As early as 2010, an MGB geohazard survey has classified the slopes of Shrine Hills as unsafe. Up to seven families who are residing directly at the affected slope have been evacuated Thursday. However, there is still a need to evacuate 40 more families as they are also residing in the “impacted” areas. “There is a big possibility that this small crack in the area can lead to a more serious landslide,” he said. The specific area affected geographically belongs to Matina Pangi, but the residents there are registered with Barangay Langub.

SSS clarifies contri hike

Social Security Commission (SSC) Chairman Amado D. Valdez on Thursday said the pension fund is still studying the possible implementation and effects of a monthly contribution rate increase, contrary toreports that it will implement a contribution adjustment by January 2017. “The contribution increase is our last option. However, should the institution be pushed to do such action, to secure the fund life of the Social Security System (SSS) and for the benefit of our current and future members and pensioners, we would like to assure the public that the contribution rate increase will be at the minimum amount only. We are trying our best to find ways to generate income for the pension fund," Valdez said. Valdez said that under the current administration, based on the latest data, collection from members’ contributions as of the end of first semester of 2017 increased by 9.62 percent to P78.64 billion. SSS investment income also increased by 12.27 percent during the same period from P16.09 billion to P18.35 billion. "We are looking at various income-generating schemes including disposal of sub-optimal properties to maximize revenues from these real estate properties," Valdez said. Talks on SSS contribution rate increase happened in the wake of ongoing Senate hearings on the SS Reform Act of 2017. Senator Richard Gordon, author of the bill, said the SS Charter Amendment will be a landmark bill which he will push for passage by end of this year. "We strongly support Sen. Gordon's mantra that we should work, save, and invest to prosper. Right now, SSS is the best and affordable savings mechanism for our

workers," Valdez said. Based on the latest pension simulation by the SSS Actuarial and Risk Management Group, a member with an actual monthly salary of P30,000 at the time of his retirement with 45 credited years of service will have a basic monthly pension of P15,700, or only 52 percent of his last salary under the

current P16,000 monthly salary credit (MSC) ceiling. If the MSC ceiling will be adjusted to P30,000 by 2022, his estimated monthly pension will be at P29,300 or about 98 percent of his last salary at retirement. THE education system nowadays that has transitioned to K-12 curriculum is such that golden age teachers can hardly perform well. They deserve to enjoy life while they are still be able to do so like traveling here in the Philippines and even abroad. They deserve to be rewarded. If the age 55 optional retirement will be compulsory, the unemployed license teachers will be lessened. The millennial learners need millennial educators. It is in this rationale that a bill was introduced in the Senate proposing that the optional retirement age of public school teachers from 60 must be lowered to 55.

First, teaching is a mentally, psychologically and physically rigorous and demanding occupation. Public school teachers are required to render six hours of actual classroom teaching and the remaining two hours are set aside for non-contact duties such as attending meetings and marking. In reality however, they are working more than eight hours a day and sometimes even during weekends and public holidays, sacrificing their health and work/ life balance. Oftentimes, teachers in public schools also perform non-teaching tasks during elections and national census. Thus it is high time for teachers to retire at 55.

SECTION 5. PROHIBITED ACTS. The following acts are declared prohibited by this Ordinance:

a. Stockpiling of water in open water containers for more than seven days within the premises and perimeter of houses and establishments. b. Leaving empty open water containers or water containing objects within the perimeter of houses and establishments; c. Leaving of uncleaned or unmaintained open containers or water containing objects filled with water in the premises of houses and establishments; and . Maintaining undrained bodies of water within the perimeter of houses and establishments.

SECTION 6. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PERSONS-IN-CHARGE. Person-in-charge shall:

a. Search and destroy breeding sites of mosquitoes. b. Protect self. c. Allow inspectors acting under Section 12 which may include members of the Task Force, entry into the premises and perimeter of houses and establishments during regular business hours for the purpose of inspecting its compliance with this ordinance.

SECTION 8. CITATION TICKET SYSTEM. Violators of this ordinance shall be informed of their violation and the penalty associated with it by means of a Citation Ticket with the following guidelines:

a. The Municipal Treasurer shall formulate and facilitate the printing and reprinting of Citation Tickets. b. Official booklets of Citation Tickets shall be issued by the Municipal Treasurer to the Barangay Treasurer of the respective barangays and the former shall issue the same to duly authorized enforcers within ninety (90) calendar days of the effectivity of this ordinance. c. A Citation Ticket shall be issued to the person/s liable for any violation of this ordinance upon finding of the violation by duly authorized enforcers. d. e. When Citation Ticket is issued to a violator, the violator shall report to the Barangay Treasurer’s Office within five (5) regular business days after such issuance, where he/she shall render community service and/or pay the corresponding violation committed. f. The Barangay Treasurer’s Office shall keep a duplicate of all Citation Tickets issued to violators as well as all other records of violations of this Ordinance.

SECTION 9. ENFORCEMENT. Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue Task Force. A task force shall be created to aid in the implementation, enforcement and monitoring of this ordinance, protect the people, as well as to conduct information and education campaigns and capability building programs, that will inform the constituents and train enforcers of this Ordinance. The task force shall be chaired by the Punong Barangay and shall have the following as members:

SECTION 10. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TASK FORCE.– Other than (1) receiving, reviewing and processing reports and complaints, serving of citations and notices (2) attending regular Task Force meetings, and (3) deputizing enforcers and enforcing the other provisions of this Ordinance, the Task Force, headed by the Barangay Council Chairman shall have the following respective duties and responsibilities: .

a. Barangay Council Chairman: 1. Conduct Massive Information campaign on the preventionand control of dengue. 2. Conduct information campaign relative to Ovicidal / Larvicidal Trap System. (OL-Trap) as a strategy to control and detect impending dengue outbreaks. 3. Intensify the conduct of monthly Clean-Up Drive in the barangay. 4. Render report base on their performance on dengue control and prevention to the Office of the Mayor on quarterly basis. b. Council chairman on Committee on Health: 1. Assist the Barangay Council Chairman in overseeing the implementation on the duties and responsibilities of the Task Force. c. Barangay Council Members: 1. Make Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue, including the implementation of this Ordinance, a part of the barangay health program and appropriate funding under the general budget of the barangay government unit.

d. Barangay Health Workers: 1. Conduct inspection activities as provided in this Ordinance. 2. Assist in promoting awareness of this Ordinance.

e. Barangay Nutrition Scholars: 1. Conduct inspection activities as provided in this Ordinance. 2. Assist in promoting awareness of this Ordinance.

f. Day Care Workers: 1. Conduct inspection activities as provided in this Ordinance in the houses and establishments of day care pupils. 2. Conduct information and education on dengue control and prevention among day care pupils and their parents or guardians 3. Assist in promoting awareness of this Ordinance.

g. Barangay Treasurer: 1. R equest and receive from the Municipal Treasurer the Citation Ticket. 2. Issue booklets of Citation Tickets to the enforcers on this Ordinance. 3. Collect / receive fines by violators and submit report on its collection. 4. Facilitate the release and allocation of funds and the renumeration of enforces share in accordance with the provision for sharing of proceeds derived from the collection of fines, penalties, generated resources and appropriated budget. h. Purok Officers: 1. Assist in promoting awareness of this Ordinance in encouraging Purok members support and participation on its implementation and enforcement. 2. Monitor Purok members in the compliance of this Ordinance. 3. Conduct inspection activities as provided in this Ordinance. i. School Principals: 1. Ensure the conduct of information and education on dengue prevention and control to all school children and their parents / guardians; 2. Ensure strict compliance of this Ordinance in the school premises and perimeter. 3. Assist in promoting awareness of this Ordinance.

SECTION 11. ENFORCEMENT ON HOUSES AND ESTABLISMENTS. – Ninety (90)calendar days after the effectivity of this Ordinance, inspection team/s composed of the members of the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue Task Force shall conduct inspection of all houses and establishments to determine their compliance with the provisions of this Ordinance. Regular inspection shall

thereafter be conducted at least twice a year. The inspection team shall provide the persons-in-charge of the houses and establishments the primer of this Ordinance. The inspection team shall issue a Citation Ticket against the violators upon finding of non-compliance with or any violation of this Ordinance. Re-inspection of houses and establishments shall be done on any day after the issuance of Citation Ticket, but in no case more than ten calendar days after such issuance. If the person-in-charge of houses and establishments fails to comply with the duties and obligations stated in this Ordinance upon re-inspection, the inspection team shall issue another Citation Ticket and request the assistance of the Barangay Council members for the enforcement of this Ordinance. SECTION 12. CIVILIAN PARTICIPATION IN ENFORCEMENT. – Within thirty (30) calendar days from the effectivity of this Ordinance the Barangay Council Chairman shall deputized the barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, day care workers, and purok officers as enforcers of this Ordinance. SECTION 13. INFORMATION DISSEMINATION. – Within sixty (60) calendar days from the effectively of this Ordinance, the Municipal Mayor through the Public Information Officer shall: a. Provide at least one copy of this Ordinance to every Barangay Government Unit, Municipal Treasurer and Municipal Health Officer. b. Provide primer of this Ordinance for every Barangay Government Unit, Municipal Treasurer and Municipal Health Officer. SECTION 14. PUBLIC BILLBOARDS, NOTICES IN BARANGAYS. – Upon effectivity of this Ordinance, the Task Force shall put up information campaign materials in conspicuous places within the Barangay Government Unit to notify the public of the restrictions and sanctions imposed by the Ordinance. SECTION 15. CONDUCT OF ORIENTATION, SEMINARS AND TRAININGS. –Within Sixty (60) calendar days from the effectivity of this Ordinance and periodically thereafter, the Health Officer with the assistance of the Health Education and Promotion Officer and the Sanitation Inspector shall develop and conduct a series of orientation, seminars and trainings for the enforcers of this Ordinance, at least one for each Task Force. SECTION 16. SURVEILLANCE. – The Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Office shall monitor Dengue cases and provide data to the Barangay Government Units, Municipal Mayor, Sangguniang Bayan, Provincial Health Office and DOH Regional Office. SECTION 17. FOCAL SPRAY. – Focal spray shall only be used to control dengue during epidemic or outbreak.

SECTION 18. FUNDING a. An initial funding to defray the expenses necessary for or incidental to the implementation of this Ordinance in the amount of One Hundred Fifty (P150,000.00) Pesos shall be sourced from the fund of the Municipal Government to carry out its duties and functions. b. An initial funding to defray the expenses necessary for or incidental to the implementation of this Ordinance in the amount of Ten Thousand (P10,000.00) Pesos shall be sourced from the fund of the Barangay Government to carry out the duties and functions of the Task Force. c. Every year thereafter, at least One Hundred Thousand (P100,000.00) Pesos shall automatically be included in the Annual Budget of the municipality and at least Ten Thousand (P10,000.00) Pesos for the barangay for the implementation and enforcement of this Ordinance.

SECTION 19. SHARING OF PROCEEDS FROM THE ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTIES. - The amount of the corresponding penalty paid by a violator to the Barangay Treasurer shall be apportioned where the equivalent of thirty percent (30%) shall accrue to the enforcer as incentive. The remainder of the proceeds from penalties collected as payment by violators, after deducting the amounts that shall accrue to the enforcers shall form part of the general fund of the Barangay Government Unit. SECTION 20. SEPARABILITY CLAUSE. - If any provision or part of this Ordinance is declared invalid or unconstitutional, the other parts or provisions thereof shall remain valid and effective. SECTION 21. REPEALING CLAUSE. - All ordinances, orders, or rules and regulations inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. SECTION 22. EFFECTIVITY. - This Ordinance shall take effect 15 days upon approval and upon compliance with Section 59 (c) of RA 7160.

As early as 2010, an MGB geohazard survey has classified the slopes of Shrine Hills as unsafe. Up to seven families who are residing directly at the affected slope have been evacuated Thursday. However, there is still a need to evacuate 40 more families as they are also residing in the “impacted” areas. “There is a big possibility that this small crack in the area can lead to a more serious landslide,” he said. The specific area affected geographically belongs to Matina Pangi, but the residents there are registered with Barangay Langub. Bustillo was referring to the Shrine Hills view deck area immediately fronting the former dumpsite of the city. Since the Shrine Hills area belongs to an economic subzone, he said, it is very sensitive in terms of ecological aspect. One of the possible causes of the ground movement that has caused the crack and landslide in the area is the road widening being implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). “Whether they like it or not they must be removed from the area given the present danger,” he said. The CDRRMC has already engaged the residents in a series of talks to inform them about the situation. Most of the residents in the affected area are informal settlers, some of who are scavengers which explains why they settled in that area along Diversion road. The area has been classified as a danger zone as it is along the highway and not good for habitation he added. The residents who will be evacuated from the Shrine Hills-Diversion area will be brought to the Los Amigos evauation center where they can stay temporarily. However, once the area is declared uninhabitable and dangerous then they will no longer be allowed to go back and build their houses there. “What we are doing is to mitigate the danger through an accelerated controlled erosion,” Bustillo said. STEAG contributes only a minuscule 15 percent to the power grid in Mindanao. Panasonic Scholarship promotes quality education for nation building Manila, Philippines Panasonic continues to promote quality education for nation-building as it awarded the 2017 Panasonic Asian Scholarship grants to six deserving university students at a ceremony held on September 27, 2017 at the University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman, Quezon City. The awarding of scholarship was led by Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) President Shinichi Hayashi, Panasonic Precision Devices Philippines Corporation (PPRDPH) President Koji Ipposhi, University of Rizal System (URS) President Marita Canapi, Pamantasan ng Cabuyao (PnC) President Isabel Inlayo, PMPC Executive Director Masaru Toyota, UP College of Engineering Associate Dean for Student Affairs Rhandley Cajote, UP College of Engineering Associate Dean for Institutional Linkages Eric Augustus Tingatinga, PMPC Assistant Director Marlon Molano, PMPC Assistant Director Robert Pacheco, and PPRDPH Assistant Director Mary Ann Diaz. scholars, Dr. Cajote encouraged them to rise above all the challenges that they will face along the way. “Our parents always tell us that education is the only legacy that they can leave behind. Education is something that we strive to attain for ourselves and for our family,” Dr. Cajote said. Mr. Pacheco, for his part, urged the scholars not to forget that in a sense they are all ambassadors not only of Panasonic and their respective universities, but also of their communities, thus they must carry out seriously their responsibilities as scholars and “help make our world a better place”. Panasonic Corporation (Japan) funds the Panasonic Asian Scholarship Program for its localized schemes in the region. In the Philippines, the program is administered by PMPC and supported by PPRDPH.
