Eight remain missing in quake-hit Makilala town Cops nab killer of govt employee
MAKILALA, North Cotabato--Eight persons in quake-hit Makilala have remained missing as of Monday noon, four days after the October 31 Magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the area, an official said. Board member Joemar Cerebo, spokesperson of the Cotabato emergency operations center, said in a telephone interview that rescuers are still searching for the missing persons as the death toll in the province since the October 16 6.3-magtinute quake reached 17. Magnitudes 6.6 and 6.1 also struck on October 29 and two days later, Magnitude 6.5, all epicenters in North Cotabato. ILIGAN City--The two-story ancestral house of a former mayor Haji Ali Munder of Bubong, Lanao del Sur was razed to the ground when fire occured at 3:46 pm on Monday, November 4, in Barangay Muntian, Bubong,
Lanao del Sur. This after an hour after a tornado was seen in Marawi City. Senior Fire Officer 3 (SFO3) Zailon Sarip, the group commander, said the fire started in one of the rooms at the second floor which rapidly burned the
atic, rooftop and eventually the whole house that is made of concrete okir cement while the flooring of the second floor is made of hard rogan wood. Sarip said Munder family mentioned that the house was built in 1975 or 44 years ago.
A fire and a tanker truck from the provincial government and a fire truck from Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur arrived to respond the fire that lasted for more than two hours. Seven families, all relatives of Munder who live in the house, were displaced
and they are temporarily living with relatives nearby. Fire out was declared at 5:03 with no casualty but the family’s antique collections were burned down. The Bureau of Fire Protection estimated more or less 400 thousand pesos cost of damage.
ILIGAN City--Police authorities arrested early dawn on Tuesday (November 4) a suspect in the killing of a former city hall executive, in a law enforcement operation in Barangay Lanipao this city. Police Major James Daleon, chief of Iligan City Police Station 3, said the suspect, identified as Macacna Maruhom, 48, a resident of Barangay Digkilaan, was arrested by virtue of arrest warrant issued by Judge Ali Ombra Bacaraman of Iligan City’s Regional Trial Court Branch 4. Maruhom is facing murder charges for killing Noel Magaro, former executive assistant of former Mayor Lawrence Cruz. Magaro succumbed to death when he was shot on October 26, 2017 while watching television at the living room of their residence in Barangay Villaverde.
