Assertive industrial sector in PH pushed

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The first Philippine Industrial Summit in Mindanao was formally opened on Monday making louder call for stakeholders to build an “assertive” industrial sector in the country.

The four-day summit, which will run until November 28, seeks to stir discussions on ways to push the full industrialization beginning in the region.

3-day Bangsamoro solidarity assembly ends November 27 CAGAYAN de Oro City-The three-day solidarity assembly attended by civil society leaders and peace advocates, which was held at EM Manor Hotel in Cotabato City will culminate today (November 27).

The event called: Kaakbay, Kapayaan: Civil Society Peace and Solidarity Assembly to facilitate public dialogue, consolidate their gains, and discuss the immense challenges and opportunities in both the Bangsamoro and GRPNDFP peace processes.

This gathering of civil society leaders and peace advocates features civil

society innovations in advocacy, peacebuilding, a policy forum and a General Assembly of the Mindanao PeaceWeavers (MPW). The event started last Monday.

NFA tackles ‘Palay procurement’ as ATI launches RCEF info caravan in Bukidnon

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon -- The National Food Authority (NFA) tackled various issues on Palay (unhusked rice) procurement as the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) launched the Information Caravan on Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) program at Jocel’s Garden in Valencia City.

NFA Bukidnon Manager Beverly M. Navarro said NFA is now buying clean and dry palay at P19.00 per kilo, which is higher than the grain traders’ prevailing

buying price of only P14.00 to P16.00 a kilo.

In the open forum with media partners, Navarro was asked on NFA’s alleged lack of warehouses or storage facilities as local farmers now flock to NFA for palay deliveries as the agency hikes its buying price.

Explaining the agency’s policies and procedures on palay procurement, she said that in the acceptance of rice deliveries, each warehouse supervisor and procurement team leader maintains a logbook to record palay arrivals

and the “first-come, firstserved” priority is strictly observed.

“To make the intake process in the procurement system fair to the farmers, the main office has not accommodated any special request even by personalities in government or other sectors. I’m certain that our procurement teams are doing the best they can to accommodate palay deliveries and at the same time observing quality standard management of stocks as See TACKLES, page 7

We lose as one

WE WIN AS ONE, this is the official watchword of the 2019 SEA Games.

But before the Games will formally open a few days from now, it seems we are already losing as one host nation.

Arrival and billeting including food preparations in hotels for visiting officials and athletes had hit a snag, thanks but no thanks to the organizers led by POC, PSC and PHISGOC. Having said that, no amount of apologies and finger pointing could cover up the apparent inefficien-

cies foreign delegates have experienced upon their arrival in the country over the weekend.

To let them wait for about 8-9 hours at the airport and whisked them in the wrong hotel is no laughing matter.

First impression lasts.

Athletes from Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and Thailand had suffered inconveniences even before the start of the Games.

Some of the alleged problems consisted of transportation, accommodation, and travel issues. All these were

treated in a shabby manner from a host country being touted as the economic tiger of Asia.

Be that as it may, let us take a closer look at how our frontrunners of the Games play their respective roles.

The PSC, along with the DBM – Procurement Service, is the main implementor of the funding and public procurement aspect of the Games.

On the other hand, PHISGOC is primarily responsible for the planning and actual preparations,

organization, management and execution of the hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games while the POC takes charge of running the technical aspects of all sporting events.

Hints and Traces

God predestines no one to hell ONE burning question many people ask is, if God is truly God and knows everything from all eternity, why does he still create a person when he would already know that that person would end up in hell? Does he not predestine that person to hell?

The answer, of course, is a big No. God predestines no one to hell. If one gets to hell, it is because of him rather than because of God who will do everything to save that person. His mercy is forever, but we, with our freedom, can manage to reject that mercy, to reject God definitively.

It may be difficult to imagine that a person can definitively reject God, given our weaknesses, but it is still possible. That’s why there is hell, as revealed in the gospel. Hell is not just a literary device to scare us and to pressure us to behave well.

It’s purely God’s love, his goodness, his desire to share what he has with us that makes him create all of us irrespective of whether we reciprocate his love or

not. To be sure, God loses nothing if we choose to lose ourselves from him.

We are just being given a chance to be with Him for eternity, with his help.

But God will continue to love everyone. As St. Paul would put it, God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1Tim 2, 4) He loves everyone, including those in hell.

In a manner of speaking, he cannot help but love everyone because he is love himself. (cfr. 1 Jn 4, 8) And since we are supposed to be the image and likeness of God, we are supposed to reflect and assume that same attitude toward everybody else.

We need to love everyone, including our enemies as Christ himself told us, because God loves everyone.

This can mean many things in practical terms.

It can mean, for example, that we have to be understanding of everyone, always charitable, quick to forgive, willing to suffer and even to die for the others. It can mean

that we should not be judgmental and that we try to find excuses for the defects and mistakes of the others. And more than condemning others for their mistakes, our attitude should be to help them.

When we are humbled by others and even offended, we should avoid fighting back, imitating the example of Christ who, according to St. Peter, “did not retaliate when they heaped abuse on him. He made no threats when he was made to suffer, but entrusted himself to the One who judges justly.”

(1 Pt 2, 23) Given our human condition, wounded by sin, we really would need to train ourselves thoroughly to acquire this attitude and spirit of God especially toward those who not only do not reciprocate our love but also who contradict and offend us.

Of course, we would depend first of all on the grace of God which is actually given to us abundantly. Just the same, we have to ask for that

grace and correspond to it as faithfully and generously as possible, so we can have the same spirit as Christ, as God wants us to have.

Toward this end, we have to learn to suffer, even to the extent of suffering the way Christ suffered and died to achieve our salvation. We should not be afraid to go through some extreme sufferings, because a lot of blessings can definitely come to us.

God cannot be outdone in generosity. If we are generous with him, he will be much more generous with us.

God’s love is such that he is willing to suffer and die for us as shown by Christ. That is how we should be, how our love for others should be. If God predestines no one to hell, neither should we condemn anyone definitively.

These pro-environment initiatives will serve as kick-off activities as the labor department marks its 86t h anniversar y on December 6, themed “Patuloy sa Mahusay, Mabilis at Malinis na Serbisyo”.

“As we celebrate another milestone in the d e p ar t m e nt , we a l s o want to emphasize our shared responsibility in spreading awareness on environment protection and conservation,” said Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III. Baseco was identified as one of the areas in Manila needing immediate clean-up and continued rehabilitation.

Joining the department in the activities are the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the City Government of Manila.

are part of the labor department’s environmental advocacy dubbed, “Green O u r D O L E P ro g r a m (GODP)”.

FOR the second time, Filinvest’s power arm, FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis), was hailed and honored by the Province of Misamis Oriental as its number one real property tax (RPT) payer for the 3rd Quarter of the calendar year 2019, in an awarding ceremony held at the Capitol Grounds in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday morning.

The Gotianun-led power firm registered a total payment of P59,122,735.22 in the first three quarters of the current year, records from the Provincial Treasurer’s Officer read. Last year, it also ranked number one with P60,698, 039.72 in total payment.

Elated by the award, Juan Eugenio L. Roxas,

the firm’s President and Chief Executive Officer, expressed words of gratitude to the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, “We are very grateful to the local government. This recognition inspires us to continue to pay not only the correct taxes but to pay on time.”

“We are proud that we have been recognized as the top tax payer during the past two years of commercial operations of FDC Misamis,” he continued.

FDC Misamis was inaugurated by President Rodrigo Duterte and was connected to the Mindanao grid in September 2016.

With his remaining 947 days in office as governor, Emano assured the tax awardees that their taxes

are in safe hands.

“Because you (religiously) paid your taxes, we are able to deliver the (right) services to our people,” furthered the governor.

He then enumerated programs and projects that are lined up and scheduled to be funded through the taxes collected.

Among them are the Special Education Fund, sports development, salary hike for Capitol employees (4th tranche), barangay empowerment, out of school youth, senior citizens, and other social services.

“This award is a manifestation of our commitment to the local government units, and Misamisnons in general, that we will pay our taxes religiously.” said Roxas.

Isuzu Philippines Corporation Issues Warning About Unauthorized Sale of Isuzu Trademark and Isuzu-branded Vehicles IN a legal notice issued by the Ortega Bacorro Odulio Calma & Carbonell law firm to major newspapers, IPC reiterates that Isuzu Motors Limited (IML) of Japan “is the registered owner of the trademark Isuzu and related marks worldwide and in the Philippines,” and that “IPC is the duly authorized distributor and assembler of Isuzu products in the Philippines by virtue of a valid Assembler

Isuzu Turns Over 17 Modernized PUV Units to Metroval TSC VALENZUELA City joined the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) with the turnover of an initial 17 modernized PUVs from Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) to Metroval TSC. The turnover was held formally at the parking grounds of Metro Valenzuela Transport Service Cooperative Metroval TSC. A short program was held prior to the turnover.

Mr. Celso Ensila Jr., Metroval TSC Chairman stated that, “We chose Isuzu because we believe in the product that provides durability and at the same time fuel efficiency”. He added, “As our cooperative grows, we are assured that through the newly acquired Isuzu PUVs, we can promote development of the transport service here in Valenzuela, improve the quality, and safety of the commuters, and to serve our mission to the community of Valenzuela.”

A copy of which are attached as Annexes “B”, “C”, “D”, “F”, “G”, and “H”, respectively;

Recently, petitioner cannot secure a copy of her certificate of live birth from the Philippines statistics authority because what keeps on appearing is the certificate of live birth of her older sister, Ruffaidah Balt Guro, who was born on April 19, 1993, copy of said COLB is attached as Annex “I”;

Upon scrutiny of her own COLB, petitioner noticed that her year of birth, in page 1 of COLB, was erroneously written as 1993, and is not reflective of her true and correct year of birth and contrary to what is declared in the affidavit of delayed registration of birth found in page 2 of her COLB;

This petition is never intended to defraud anyone, much more the government of the Republic of the Philippines but solely for the purposes of straightening the records of the petitioner;

9.

Lastly, petitioner submits that nobody will be prejudiced by the granting of this petition.

Assertive industrial sector in PH pushed PAL, CebuPac post higher OTP in Oct.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The first Philippine Industrial Summit in Mindanao was formally opened on Monday making louder call for stakeholders to build an “assertive” industrial sector in the country.

The four-day summit, which will run until November 28, seeks to stir discussions on ways to push the full industrialization beginning in the region.

Franklin Quijano, president of the governmentowned and controlled PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority (Phividec), said it is high time the Philippines stop relying solely on the traditional goods it receives abroad via trade.

CENRO Bislig has been active in the apprehension and retrieval of abandoned and illegally-cut trees inside government timber lands.

Condemned Senator Leila M. de Lima has strongly condemned the killing of Peregrino.

De Lima maintained that the increasing number of unresolved deaths in the country involving environmental workers should be regarded as a serious concern that should prompt the government to stop promoting the culture of violence in the country.

The lady Senator from Bicol pointed out that the killing of Peregrino and other environmental workers under the present administration warrants a serious investigation by the authorities to ensure that justice will be served to the victims.

“The government is dutybound to finally put an end to the bloodbath in country, which victimizes, among others, environmental defenders who devoted their lives in protecting Mother Nature,” she said.

In its report this year, the international group Global Witness ranked the Philippines as the deadliest country for land and environmental defenders in 2018.

DOH launches free polio vaccination in Caraga Region

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH-13) launched the “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio” on Monday (Nov. 25) with simultaneous programs here and other parts of the region.

DOH-13 Regional Director Jose Llascuna led the launching activity where he called on parents to have their children 0-59 months and under 5-years-old administered with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).

The simultaneous vaccination is slated until December 7 this year, and the second round on January 6 to 18 next year.

The administration of OPV is free, Llascuna said, adding it is the government’s response to the earlier declaration of polio outbreak in the country.
