Coalition candidates mourn ‘Dongkoy’s’ untimely death By CRIS DIAZ Executive Editor
THE coalition political party of the Padayon Pilipino-Centrist Democtratic Party mourned the untimely death of former Cagayan De Oro City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano, 76, who succumbed to Pneumonia in his hospital bed 12:28 Tuesday morning. In a statement, Mayoral candidate Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña said that Cagayan De Oro and Misamis Oriental lost one of the most respected local political leaders of all time. Emano, who was running as Vice Mayor of Cagayan De Oro City at the time of his death, was La Viña’s running mate in the Mayoral contest come May 13, 2019 election. While expressing his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of Emano, La Viña also conveyed his resolved to continue the aspirations of Emano as the “man of the
poor and the less fortunate.” He said that the passing of Emano served as an inspiration for all of us in the Padayon Pilipino and the Centrist Democratic Party (PDP-CDP) to pursue Emano’s aspirations to serve the people. La Viña said that he will not renege his promise to pursue the creation of the “new Cagayan De Oro” in line with Dongkoy Emano’s pro-people principle of governance. As if he has a premonition of the things to come, Emano has given instruction to the coalition candidates to “continue the campaign,” no matter what happens,” La Viña said. For his part, former Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, the coalition political party’s congressional beat in the city’s second district, said that “we have lost a great man, a Titan in Cagayan De Oro City’s politics.” See MOURN, page 11

come the responsibility of credible media practitioners to urge the voting public to “dismiss disinformation brought about by the surge of fake news used as black propaganda. “It is unfair to candidates who are honest and more qualified and yet they lost in the elections because of disinformation and black
