CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Cagayan De City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Wednesday announced that the latest COVID-19 fatality, who lived in the village (Barangay) of Carmen here, was his relative. The 61-year-old female patient originally came from the municipal town of Balingasag, the hometown of Moreno, in the province of Misamis Oriental. Moreno said that his relative was active in the distribution and packaging of the relief goods in Carmen prior to her admission to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) hospital on May 1, 2020. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY-The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Region 10 (LTFRB-10) is now in the process of “rationalizing” the routes in the city and in Misamis Oriental. LTFRB-10 Regional Director Aminoden Guro said that the route rationalization is part of the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) modernization program that will commence on June 30 this year.
Guro said that he has already met with Councilor Bong Lao, chair of the City Council committee on Public Utility, and discussed the rationalization of routes for Cagayan de Oro City. The rationalization of routes, said Guro is one of the requirements set forth under the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG) of the PUV modernization. Aside from removing the overlapping of routes, the route rationalization is conducted to determine appropriate mode, quantity
and service characteristics of the public transport service in each corridor which will make the routes more responsive to passenger demand and ensure that the hierarchy of roads and modes of transportation are followed. Guro said the LTFRB is prepared to roll out the PUV modernization in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental and even in Northern Mindanao region.
