SAN Francisco, Agusan del Sur--Local poll bets here have allegedly started buying votes in several barangays a week ahead of the elections on Monday (May 13). Independent mayoralty candidate John Paredes has reported supporters of local bets were caught separately distributing P20, 25, 40, and P50 bills since last week to residents in four villages, of which a photo which serve as proof were submitted to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for proper administrative charges. ILIGAN City--The Task Force Piniliay on Monday morning deployed the troops belonging to the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army to the different areas in Lanao del Norte and Iligan City to ensure security, peace and order during and after the midterm national and local elections on May 13. The troops were composed of three battalions and three companies, according to Colonel Alex Aduca, deputy brigade commander and the commander of Task Force Piniliay. In a send off ceremony held inside the brigade’s camp in Barangay Ditucalan, Iligan City, Aduca reminded the troops of three things: remain to be non-partisan and apolitical, ensure security of all constituents and ensure personal safety.
