IT’s all systems go for the May 9, 2022 national and local elections (NLE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Thursday. “We are all systems go. We are just waiting for the date of the elections. We have conducted final testing and sealing (FTS) and the problems we have already addressed,” Commissioner Marlon Casquejo said in a press briefing. “We are 100 percent all set for May 9,” he added. BOC-Zambo destroys P110-M worth of smuggled cigarettes By TEOFILO GARCIA, JR.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) led the destruction of some PHP110 million worth of confiscated smuggled cigarettes Thursday here. Segundo Barte Jr., the BOC-Zamboanga district collector, said the cigarettes consisting of 3,110 master cases and 1,372 reams were destroyed in front of the BOC warehouse in Barangay San Jose Gusu. “These cigarettes were seized in separate antismuggling operations together with partner agencies from December 2021 to March 2022,” Barte said. He vowed BOC-Zamboanga will continue to intensify its campaign to put a stop to the smuggling of cigarettes. “The destruction of these cigarettes is a warning that
