Oro media lauded for unity vs ‘red-tagging’ of NUJP DAVAO City--The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines on Tuesday lauded its colleagues in Cagayan de Oro City for their “show of unity against unrelenting efforts to suppress freedom of the press and of expression.” The NUJP said media colleagues did the right thing when it tore down and burned a streamer that named alleged communist front organizations – including the media organization – that was hung on the fence of Cagayan de Oro’s Press Freedom Monument
MEDIA practitioners belonging to Cagayan de Oro Press Club, Inc. (COPC) set aflame by lighting a streamer tagging the National Union Of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) and other activist groups as allies of the ‘terrorist New People’s Army (NPA)’ which was found draped at the foot of the monument honoring Press Freedom at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Cagayan de Oro. The COPC is celebrating the 37th Press Freedom Week. Photo taken from the FB post of L awrence G eralde of B ombo -R adyo C agayan de O ro
