PROVINCIAL Governor Yevgency Vincente ‘Bambi’ Emano, of Misamis Oriental, is not running for City Mayor of Cagayan De Oro City, former City Mayor Vicente Emano said Monday. The elder Emano, Chairman of the Padayon Pilipino, an accredited regional political party in Northern Mindanao, issued the statement to dispel doubts about the rumors that ‘Bambi’ Emano would run for City Mayor in the 2019 local elections. “Gov. Bambi Emano is not leaving Misamis Oriental where the Emanos’ have acknowledge the debt of gratitude to the people of the province,” Emano told the local media in interview Monday. CAGAYAN de Oro City-The United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) is opposed to a reported plan by the government to convert a portion of the Dansalan College campus in Marawi City as a military camp. In a press conference here during the 70th anniversary of UCCP, Bishop Melzar Labuntog claimed it has received a report alleging that the government intends to do just that. Specifically, Labuntog said the government wants
to convert Dansalan College’s ten-hectare farm in Marawi City as part of a military camp. “Daghan na man kampo sa mga militar diri, naa sa Ranao ug sa kasikbit nga mga dapit, I don’t think there is a necessity of another camp,” he pointed out. Labuntog, whose jurisdiction covers the northwestern portion of Mindanao, claimed that the property will be part of a new P400-million military camp that the Duterte administration is contemplating to build in the area.
