BUTUAN City – Three young New Peoples Army (NPA) guerillas were killed in a fierce gun battle with Army soldiers on Sunday in Carmen town in Surigao del Sur while another one who was still alive and rushed to a nearby hospital died on arrival. Soldiers from the 36th Infantry Battalion treated a wounded NPA rebel after after the 15-minute clash with some 10 guerillas in the

interior village of Cancavan, according to Capt. Francisco Garello, civil military officer of the 36th IB. Garello said the wounded rebel was initially identified as a certain Gealan P Jimenez alias Jareb, 24 yrs old and a resident of Barangay Adlay in neighboring Carrascal town but his parents corrected his identity as Dylan Ghem Padilla See CLASH, page 11
