Clash of malls in Oro intensifies By Cris Diaz, Executive Editor
CAGAYAN de Oro City--The “war” among shopping malls in this trading capital of Northern Mindanao intensified with the opening Friday of the 15.2-hectare Shoe Mart (SM) in the city’s downtown area along Claro M. Recto Avenue. SM now has two shopping malls here, bringing to eight the number of big shopping malls in the city, aside from S & R, a mall that offers imported products only. Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Maximo Rodriguez said the opening of SM CDO Downtown Premier shopping mall might affect the operation or earnings of other malls in the city. East of SM CDO Premier is the 200-hectare Limketkai Commercial Complex, which houses Robinsons Mall, SM-RECTO. SM Prime Holdings President Hans Sy leads the coin-tossing ceremony after the inauguration and Shop Wise shopping mall and other high end shops of blessing of the newly opened Sm-CDO Downtown Premier located at Claro M. Recto in Cagayan de Oro City on May imported goods, restaurants and food chains.
