Army hospital frontliners in CDO vaccinated vs COVID-19 By FROILAN GALLARDO MindaNews

CAGAYAN DE ORO -- A hundred medical front liners at the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Barangay Patag here were vaccinated Friday afternoon with CoronaVac, a vaccine against COVID-19 manufactured by China’s Sinovac Biotech. Elsewhere in the city, inoculation also started on Friday for the 1,400 medical front liners at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), the

main regional referral center for COVID-19 cases. The Army 4th Infantry Division received 300 doses of CoronaVac, a small part of the initial batch of 600,000 doses donated the country by China. China’s donation, which arrived in the Philippines on February 28, specifies 100,000 doses are a gift of the Chinese military to the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Thousands of farmers trained after two years of RCEF THE Rice Competitiveness Extension Fund-Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP) had reached hundreds of thousands of rice farmers and stakeholders through training and communication services since the Rice Tariffication Law was signed in 2019. “We have reached more farmers and extension workers for the past two years of RCEF implementation. We will even more intensify our efforts for 2021 as we ensure that we deliver the information and technology that farmers need the most

to increase their yield and reduce production cost,” said Karen Eloisa T. Barroga, vice-chair of the Technical Working Group of RCEFRESP. Under the training component of the program, some 1,600 trainers across the country were taught on rice crop production, modern rice farming techniques, seed production, and farm mechanization. Four different types of training with different durations and participants have been conducted to help improve yield while lowering

losses in rice production. For PhilRice, these trainings include Rice Specialists’ Training Course, Training of Trainers, Farmers Field Schools, and seminars/ field days. The Institute co-implements RESP with Agriculture Training Institute (ATI), and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) under DA and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Teachers teach because they want to inspire tomorrow’s world leaders, because they are passionate enough about developing the self-belief in every potential of every single student. Teacher can act as a support system that is lacking elsewhere in students lives. A motivated teacher is very important to the classroom where children will start to develop their skills until they become adult where they

need to face the real world and become great on their own abilities. Achieving greatness isn’t about putting all of the right inputs into students so they spit out the right outputs. Its about creating a focused community rooted in personal responsibility and reciprocal support. Everyone is responsible for great learning and teaching and becoming great. Great educational achievement doesn’t result from individuals effectively playing their roles as learners and educators. It’s the result of a cohesive learning community where each stakeholder holds high expectations and has responsibility to meet high expectations. Education is a ray of light in the darkness. THE provincial and local governments of Guimaras, in cooperation with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) launched its Green Spark program as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Green Spark Program stimulates positive change with the introduction of green and sustainable alternative lifestyle component to NGCP’s host communities. PERA MPC Exemplifies Passion & Oneness TO quote an Oxfam Study, “In a world so enamored in profit-motive that has already captured the mindset of all governments, all institutions and all universities, competition for wealth, power and fame has become the order of the times as competition for wealth and power is based on the perception that they are meaningless fragments in an alien universe, unconnected to each other.” In cooperativism whose essence is one of members-owned (no one shall be left behind), value-based, philosophy driven and sustainable, such perception does not exist, as the cooperatives firmly believe in the oneness and inter-connectedness of all of God’s creation. Indeed, we are not separate fragments in an alien universe and that inter-connectedness should be passionately shown through compassion, service and love. Bounded with passion and purpose, that spirit of oneness, service and love is being exemplified by PERA Multipurpose Cooperative (PERA MPC) which was organized in 1998 known then as the Philnabank Employees Resources of

Agusan Multipurpose Cooperative. Trail-blazed by 29 determined cooperators who worked at Philippine National Bank, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur with an initial capital of P72,500 PERA MPC has scaled the heights drawing those in the margins into the mainstream of development processes. Showing how the cooperative became the countervailing force against poverty, gross inequity and social injustice, some 15,335 members joined the cooperative in just the last five years and in 2018, became the first billionaire cooperative in Caraga Region. While it may have amazingly reached the billionpeso mark, but such concretely manifested how the cooperative is successfully making life better to every poor member as the cooperative is membersowned. More amazing is how the cooperative pursues its vision to be the leading cooperative providing services and how it values its community involvement geared towards improving the lives of the people and regaining back the lost ecological integrity in collaboration with government

One of which is the Adopt an Indigenous People (IP) Family Program in partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority Caraga Regional Office that aims to protect the heritage of the IPs. The location of these recipients is classified as geographically isolated disadvantaged areas at Tumalog, Zillovia Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, PERA MPC adopted seven (7) families. PERA MPC is committed to extend assistance to our IP friends who are willing to organize themselves into a cooperative for them to have a sustainable livelihood and promote their products in a competitive avenue. PERA MPC also supported the Department of Education thru its Alternative Learning System that enables the adults and outof-school youths to acquire basic occupation skills, knowledge and information, values and attitudes essential for obtaining initial gainful employment. LENTEN MESSAGE 2021—Year of Mission Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our observance of Lent. Once again the Church invites us to a sincere examination of our life, our works in the light of Faith. Jesus spent forty days and forty nights in the desert in prayer and fasting before he embarked on a mission. Let this season of Lent be moments of profound reflection and renewal of our interior life too as we continue the mission God has entrusted to us. The pandemic is still with us calling us to intensify more our prayers and remain steadfast with our faith in God. Let us continually observe the health protocols in our liturgical celebrations, especially during Holy Week. Lent indeed is a season of grace, a season of joy. It is a precious gift of God, a journey of the Lord’s Easter. It is an intense time full of meaning in the journey of the Church. Our life’s journey is also a pilgrimage sharing the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. This coming Easter Sunday we rejoice with the Risen Lord as we commemorate the first Mass in the country 500 years ago. Renewal is God’s precious gift This pilgrimage entails a renewal of our lives, a deepening of our commitment more and more to the God of History as we celebrate 500 Years of Christian faith full of gratitude and love. Renewal is intimately woven in our jubilee celebration. All of us in the archdiocese should humbly beg God the grace of conversion by opening our hearts to Him. Renewal is truly a gift from God. The call to live out our baptismal vows The CBCP’s Lenten message calls us to live out our baptismal vows. They call us to witness to God’s charity, to live out and spread God’s faithful love.

AlayKapwa or ser ving our neighbors is a fruit of a genuine concern and love of God and ne i g h bor. It can be done by the one who has been deeply touched by God’s loving

and compassionate heart. Again this needs a constant conversion to the God of love to fulfill this. Let us also continue praying for one another especially those who suffer the most due to this pandemic. Let us not lose hope amidst all these trials as we journey towards the resurrection. Finally, our world, our archdiocese needs God’s forgiveness, realizing that desecration of one’s dignity and degradation of our environment continues to happen. Let us beg for God’s mercy and Love that He will continually purify our hearts from self-serving desires. Let us pray that our hearts will be set free from all that enslave us; resentments, anger, hatred, and all that dehumanizes us. We pray that by opening ourselves to God and neighbor will bear fruit in solidarity, harmony and peace. In line with this, we have Concepts, Strategies and Counseling Approaches to achieve academic motivation specially to students who have a lack of interest in learning in the class. Motivation is an important foundation of academic development in students. From the motivation side of learners, they are motivated because they view task as associated with learning as valuable, and on how they foresee things that needs to be done. The concept is as long as the student needs a motivation to choose his goals and expend a certain amount of

effort to achieve them, it will make a huge change to them. They will manage their time and effort on things specially in school. Teacher put efforts to make and think for strategies how to cope up with these challenges. Teachers need to have a broad teaching strategy to reach out to every student as much as they can. There are many strategies a teacher needs to provide in order for the students to be motivated in their academic. Teachers somewhat touches the lives of their students by knowing them and talking to them, teaching them important life lessons that will help them succeed beyond term papers and standardized tests. Some may need extra push; others may be going through something troubling in their personal lives and need someone to talk to. PH employees seen to get 5.6% salary increase in 2021 By KRIS CRISMUNDO

MANILA – Workers in the country are projected to have an average increase of 5.6 percent in their salary this year, the Salary Budget Planning Report of global advisory, broking, and solutions firm Willis Towers Watson (WTW) said. The average salary increase in the Philippines this year, however, is slightly lower than the 5.7-percent pay rise in 2020.

Aside from the Philippines, the report shows that 12 other markets in the Asia Pacific region have slowed down their 2021 average pay rise forecasts. These include Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. Countries with higher pay hike rate in 2021 include Bangladesh, Myanmar, and New Zealand, while nations

such as Australia, China, Taiwan, and Thailand are expected to maintain their salary increase rate this year. “After a difficult year for employers and employees -- battling lockdowns, employee safety issues, working from home and declining revenues -- many employers are finding ways to handle the crisis better, manage their businesses and help their employees with a more focused work and reward

The petitioners are adult children of deceased Diosdado Villanueva Yap Jr. and Maria Corazon Lim. They are currently residents of Balayong, Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte. Petitioner Diosdado Lim Yap IV (Diosdado IV) was born on May 10, 1984. Petitioner Lim Yap IV (Diosdado IV) was born on May 10, 1984. Petitioner Angela Mie Lim Yap (Angela Mie) was born lon November 14, 1998. As proof of their filiation with the decedents, their Certificates of Live birth are respectively attached here are as Annex “B”2 and Annex “C”3 . 3. Diosdado Jr. and Maria Corazon entered the marital vow on October 19, 1974 in a ceremony officiated by Reverend Father Martin Ryan as shown in their Marriage Contract, Annex “D”4 . To the knowledge of the petitioners, the deceased had not executed a pre-nuptial arrangement prior to the celebration of their marriage. Till their death, the marriage was subsisting. The spouses Diosdado Jr. and Maria Corazon were blessed with three children: the petitioners and Diosdado Damdam Lim Yap III (Diosdado III), the eldest of the three children. As proof of Diosdado III’s filiation to the Spouses, his certificate of livebirth is attached here as Annex “E”5. 4. On August 25, 2017, Maria Corazon died on a breast cancer and she was a resident of Purok Balayong Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte at the time of her death6, She was a survived by her husband and three children and died intestate. Her estate was partially settled.7 5. Just recently, Diosdado Jr. died of acute pulmonary embolism on December 27, 2020. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Balayong, Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte8. Since deceased Maria Corazon predeceased her spouse, Diosdado Jr., the latter was survived by his three children as the only copulsory heirs, viz: a. Diosdado Damdam Lim Yap III, 43 years old, and residents of Balayong, Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte; b. Diosdado Lim Yap IV, 36 years old, single and resident of Balayong, Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte; and c. Angila Mie Lim Yap, 22 years old, and resident of Balayong, Mararnding, Lala, Lanao del Norte. 6. Like her wife, Diosdado Jr. died intestate. During his lifetime, Diosdado Jr. had not informed his children or anyone close to him that he executed a will for the distribution of his estate. Petititioners made all efforts to ascertain whether their father left a will or not. But after searching all the files of their father, they haven’t found a will, either notarial or holographic. 7. The deceased spouses Yap left several properties, consisting of real properties, personal properties and bank deposits. MARAWI CITY: - More than 20 million Filipinos have completed the Step 1 registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of February 26, 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in a statement released Monday. “As of February 26, per the latest count, PSA has recorded a total of 20,133,869 registrants who completed Step1 registration,” the PSA stated. Due to the positive turnout, PSA raised its target for the Philippine Identification (PhilID) registration to 70 million this year. “The target registrants will include vulnerable groups identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force for

the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, such as front-line health workers, senior citizens, indigents, and uniformed personnel,” the PSA said. Step 1 started on October 12, 2020 in 32 select provinces considered as Covid-19 low-risk areas. Registration is ongoing. “Achieving the 70 million target this year would be an exceptional feat for the PSA and other agencies involved in the implementation. For the past four years, thousands of families of the Indigenous Peoples who have been ousted from their ancestral domain in Barangay Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon have been living beside the highway seeking refuge in shattered tents. Their children’s legs have to be tied up while sleeping as some have already been hit by passing cars upon waking up when they cross the highway without the parents’ knowledge. They are just eating “kamote” once a day or more often, eating nothing at all, having lost their farms and their livelihood. Their children are just drinking from a nearby river where they take a bath, the reason why all the children are either malnourished or sickly. It was so shocking to know no one did care for them, no help, no food, no love, no concern, no iota of assistance. Well, am not surprised! Indeed, in a world that is so enamored in the profit motive that has already captured the mind of all governments, all institutions, all universities and even of religious groups, serving the least of our brethren seems to be not within their parameters of engagement. But amidst the darkness of so much trivialities and externalities, suddenly a bright light loomed recently providing love, concern, assistance and care. That light is the PERA MPC.
