Andanar: Normin poverty incidence drops to 17.3%

P15.00 SP enacts animal disease prevention, control law

THE 19th City Council during its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy enacted an ordinance providing for the rules and regulations for the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging infectious and zoonotic animal diseases, providing penalty for violations thereof. The Animal Diseases Prevention and Control of Cagayan de Oro City was enacted to prevent the entry, transmission and spread of infectious animal diseased into the city. It shall also protect the animal industry by ensuring healthy and productive livestock and poultry, ensure food safety and protect the local populace from the harmful effects of emerging and re-emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases and prevent the negative socio-economic and environmental impacts caused by the occurrence of animal diseases. This is pursuant to the Local Government Code mandating the city to exercise necessary powers essential to promote the health and safety, as well as enhance its economic prosperity.
