HE crime volume in Northern Mindanao dropped dramatically from 2017 to 2018, an improvement accomplished in all its five provinces and two key cities.

Duterte endorses PDP-Laban senatorial candidates in Oro Tuesday, March 26, 2019

CAGAYAN de Oro City--President Rodrigo Duterte graced the Partido Demokratiko PilipinoLakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) to endorse his partymates during a rally held at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Barangay Lapasan here on Saturday night. He later raised the hands of the political party’s official senatorial candidates.

In his speech, he also endorsed the official PDP-Laban senatorial candidates, the team of “MaBaGoKoTo,” referring to Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, former Philipine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Sen. Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel III, and former political adviser Francis Tolentino.

Other candidates who were present were Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Sen. JV Ejercito, and Rafael Alunan.

Duterte first raised the hands of the PDL-Laban officials candidates, then he raised the hands of the guest candidates.

Also present were PDP-Laban members from Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, and other parts of Mindanao. About five thousands attended the sortie.

Duterte was welcomed by Cagayan de Oro mayor Oscar Moreno, who is also a member of the PDP-Laban.

Moreno was accused by his political opponent as “the most anti-Duterte mayor in the Philippines.”

In an interview after the rally, Moreno said the presence of the President would disprove that accusation.

“It speaks for itself,” the mayor said, in reference to Duterte’s presence, adding that he was happy the city hosted the PDPLaban sortie.

As usual, Duterte lambasted his critiques, focusing on the Roman Catholic clergy, the New People’s Army, the Commission on Human Rights, among others.

Siege costs ground zero residents P91 billion

DAVAO City--The Integrated Bar of the Philippines’ Lanao del Sur – Marawi City Chapter has submitted to the House Sub-Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation documents pertaining to the claims of 15,102 residents displaced from Ground Zero of a total of 91.6 billion pesos in damages brought about by the five-month war between government forces and the Islamic Stateinspired Maute Group and its allies in 2017.

The consolidated Marawi Reparation bill proposes a budget of 30 billion pesos or merely a third of the 91 billion peso damages declared by residents of the 250-hectare, 24-barangay Ground Zero, the former battleground between government forces and the Islamic State-inspired Maute Group and its allies, now referred to as the Most Affected Area (MAA).

– Representatives Tom Villarin, Amihilda Sangcopan, Cristina Puno, Khalid Dimaporo and Ansaruddin Adiong – that the IBP chapter conducted a “series of legal missions” from September 17 to October 25, 2018, with the Legal Office of the Provincial Capitol and in part-

nership with the Regional Human Rights Commission of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the Public Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice, Integrated Sharia of the Philippines, Mindanao State University Legal Aid Clinic and other volunteer lawyers.

As a result, he said, a total of 15,102 IDPs, consisting of homeowners, sharers and renters in ‘Ground Zero’ filed affidavits declaring a total of 91,196,450,485 pesos in damages.

Before the siege began on May 23, 2017, ‘Ground Zero’ was the cultural and commercial district of the city and home to some 27,000 residents (at least 11,000 homeowners and the rest classified as “sharers and renters”) in 24 barangays, according to the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM).

President Rodrigo Duterte on October 17, 2017 declared Marawi “liberated from the terrorist influence that marks the beginning of rehabilitation.”

TFBM chair and Housing Secretary Eduardo del Rosario assured Marawi’s Ground Zero residents during the consultations and public hearing last week that clearing of unexploded ordnance and debris will be done by August 30, to allow residents to return to repair or rebuild their homes by first week of September.

He vowed those in the “least affected areas” in the MAA would be able to return to repair their homes by first week of July provided they seek a permit from City Hall and that their buildings are found

to be still habitable.

Residents hope the Reparation bill will be passed into law soonest so they can have money to repair or rebuild their homes.

Patterned after martial law compensation act A day before the public hearing, at the consultation dialogue between TFBM and Ground Zero residents also in the provincial gym in Marawi on March 19, Secretary Saidamen Pangarungan, chair of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, said the 30 billion peso proposed allocation for the Marawi Reparation is “for the property losses of all victims of the Marawi siege.”

“I patterned that bill from the martial law compensation act,” Pangarungan said, apparently referring to Republic Act 10368 or Human Rights Victims Reparation and Recognition Act of 2013, which provides for the reparation and recognition of victims of human rights violations during the Marcos regime, documentation of said violations and appropriating funds for the reparation.

“Mas malaki napinsala sa atin sa Marawi” (We suffered more damages in Marawi),” he said, adding that getting the President to certify the bill as urgent would be good

so that “in a matter of one month siguro, approved na yan sa Congress.”

He cited as example the organic law for the Bangsamoro, which he said was pending in Congress “but because si SAP (Special Assistant to the President) Bong Go – nilakad nya kay President na urgent ang Bangsamoro law, one month approved na” (he followed up with the President for the Bangsamoro law to be certified urgent, in one month it was approved).

Last year, the TFBM in its presentations included in the proposed budget for the Marawi rehabilitation 20.05 billion as compensation, based on House Bill 07711 or the “Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act of 2018” filed by Lanao del Sur Representative Ansaruddin Adiong on May 16, 2018, “to compensate for the loss or destruction of residential houses and commercial buildings in Ground Zero / MAA and Greater Marawi Area.”

The bill proposes that 20 billion pesos be allocated as the “Compensation Trust Fund” which shall be “under the custody of the (Marawi Compensation) Board and shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.”

What you see is what you get MOST often than not, he ignores reading his prepared speech and instead goes all out doing impromptu to the delight of the many, a weirdo thing of the few.

He may be boring on one side, yet his packed audience seems to enjoy his storytelling to the max. And last Sunday’s PDP Laban grand rally at USTP was another event for him to lash out his political critics – erring priests, drug addicts, corrupt people in government and even the yellow media for that matter.

And by the way, no one from among the local bets, not even from the Moreno camp was personally endorsed by the President.

His natural comic flair makes him alive and kicking. He throws antics and ad libs even in the most formal setting like no other.

President Duterte cracks jokes in between serious functions and meetings, his only weapon, perhaps to brighten up his day in finding solutions to the nation’s titanic woes --- verily not for the faint hearted.

Duterte’s jokes and ad libs may sound irritating and outmoded, but these are his ways, perhaps of fighting stress and pressures attached to his herculian job -- the presidency.

Duterte has his way of entertaining himself amid the many animosities of the

He lightens the day by himself -- from serious to funny, shepherding the discussions with his profound thought process and candid inputs.

If God has a sense of humor, Duterte had his way too of making people laugh in the midst of a national crisis --– serious at one moment and funny the next.

His critics presumably find his jokes nasty albeit obscene and sometimes scandalous, yet ordinary people love to hear those ad libs, very original, candid and outspoken as it were.

During the election campaign, Duterte even joked he will Jetski to the South China Sea to plant the Philippine flag there.

The following day, a national broadsheet carried an editorial cartoon showing Duterte jet skiing on the waters of the disputed islands in the South China Sea! This Duterte joke drew mixed reactions from netizens, and perhaps one of the ad libs that catapulted Duterte to Malacanang.

His knack on the ad libs gave him the edge over

his political opponents, even outpacing the late and charismatic Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

The President’s sense of humor appears to serve as his weapon to stay on course in the fight against illegal drugs, corruption in government, terrorism and the restoration of the law and order.

He pokes fun at himself as well. During his visit at a military camp in Davao, the President flaunted he has two wives occupying his left and another on the right.

At one time, the President made the ire of the national press by his sharp side comments on media killings that eventually killed his ‘honeymoon’ with the Manila media.

With all its enigmatic outcomes, his humor is seen to buoy up the presidency -- uncover more scandals, corruption and ineptitude of people in government.

With all his toughness, Duterte has a soft heart for women. His charisma oozing with that manly appeal only a few of his age could still make a mark of adulation from his legion

of female supporters, young and old alike.

Even his number one nemesis, detained Sen. Leila de Lima had good, some words on him. Acting like a true gentleman, Duterte offered a hand to De Lima but not without returning a childish, skimpy grin. His body language says it all.

With his trademark rolled up barong sleeves, he shows a lot about him being the man of action – the working President looks!

Duterte may go down in history not only as the tough-talking President, but as a leader who rises above it all by cracking jokes and throwing ad libs the unorthodox way, and at the same time finding solutions to the worries of the State.

What we have in Duterte is a leader completely different from the average Filipino politician.

With mega problems whacking the country, a Duterte humor is indeed needed to lighten up his day. Now, if Duterte’s humor is fake news, so be it. (ruffy44_ph2000@yahoo. com)

THINK a minute.

One day in 1894, Guglielmo returned to his room on the third floor of his parents’ house. He had spent several months of reading books and filling notebooks with detailed drawings and diagrams. Now it was time to work at bringing those drawings from paper into practical inventions to use in real life.

He got up early every morning and worked all day until late at night, to the point that his mother began to seriously worry about his health. He worked so long and hard every day, barely stopping to eat or sleep, that he continued losing weight.

perseverance, his invention was perfected.

Guglielmo Marconi became famous as the inventor of wireless telegraphy, which started the technology for the invention of radio. Marconi not only received the Nobel Prize in physics, but also a position in the Italian senate and many honorary degrees.

Someone said: “The way to get to the top is to get off your bottom.” That’s why “You gotta work it to win it.”

You can accomplish nearly anything “if ” you commit your heart and life to it by combining your vision with hard work.

CAMPAIGNS calling for the recycling of non-biodegradable items like plastic have become commonplace. It has in fact become a fad to the point that it has obscured an essential fact – the problem isn’t plastic waste but the

continuing production of plastic.

What this piece is trying to emphasize is, the fault lies with the industry that produces plastic for many of the things on store shelves – shampoo, bottled water and soda, packed meat, junk food, toys.

Bills similar to Adiong’s – SB 1816 and SB 1856 — were filed in the Senate by Senators Paolo Benigno Aquino on May 23, 2018 and Joseph Victor Ejercito on June 28, 2018, also proposing the allocation of 20.05 billion pesos.

Several other bills were filed in the House of Representatives for the reparation of victims of the Marawi Siege, among them HB 08099 filed by Lanao del Sur Rep. Mauyag Papandayan, Jr. on August 14, 2018 and HB 08200 filed by Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin on September 6, both of them providing for an allocation of 30 billion pesos.

All proposed reparation bills in the House have been consolidated by the Sub-Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation.

But Lanao del Norte Rep. Dimaporo said the 17th Congress is practically finished.”

The 17th Congress is on recess from February 9 to May 19 and will resume sessions from May 20 to June 7 – which has only nine session days before it adjourns sine die.

“The most this sub-committee can do is to make recommendation to the 18th Congress. That should be the first order of business of all Lanao congressmen (when the 18th Congress opens on June 30, 2019: the return of Marawi evacuees to Marawi,” Dimaporo said.

MinDA wants 12 catalytic projects to become national priority DAVAO City--The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will continue to lobby for the 12 identified “catalytic projects” in Mindanao as they want these infrastructure projects to become a “national priority” to get funding from the government, MinDA public relations head Adrian Tamayo said on Sunday.

“It must be admitted that most of the infrastructure projects are still in feasibility stage given the national priority challenge, which means MinDA continues its lobbying for these projects to be prioritized as a national priority to attain budget allocation,” he told MindaNews.

“We are very pleased with the successful transition to (PAL’s) new passenger services system, Amadeus Althea Suite. All direct channels -- internet booking engine, ticketing offices, travel agent partners and contact centers are now utilizing the new system designed to provide more ease to the passengers,” spokesperson Cielo Villaluna told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The PAL team has made a successful cutover across all direct sales channels, she said.

Guinigundo also denied claims by some economists that the adjustments in the TDF offer were due to tightness in domestic liquidity.

DA calls anew for temporary ban on palm oil imports

MANILA -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) has reiterated its earlier recommendation for a “temporary ban” on palm oil imports, as Filipino coconut and oil palm farmers complain of extremely low prices due to the dumping of the commodity by two major palm oil-producing countries in Southeast Asia.

In his Facebook page, DA Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol said the proposed ban is just temporary and effective only for a specified period.

He said volume of palm oil imported from Indonesia and Malaysia have increased by 900 percent over the last three years.

Piñol said he also asked the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Bio-Fuels Board (NBB) to increase the coconut oil component of bio-diesel from B2 to B5, or from 2 percent to 5 percent.

The two recommendations, which were made as early as last year, were resubmitted by the DA to the Economic Cluster, the DOE and NBB, following reports that the European Union (EU) has started the ban on palm oil imports

This recommendation, however, is being opposed by major fuel companies, saying that it would increase diesel fuel cost by PHP0.35 per liter.

Strong AI is something with generalized human cognitive abilities. When presented with an unfamiliar

task, a strong AI system is able to find a solution without human intervention.

Automation is w hat makes a system or process function automatically. And machine learning is the science of getting a computer to act without programming.

Meanwhile, machine vision is the science of allowing computers to see. This technology captures and analyzes visual information. It is compared to human eyesight although occasionally, AI can be programmed to see through walls. On the other hand, robotics is a field of engineering focused on the design and manufacturing of robots. Robots are often used to perform tasks that are difficult for humans to perform or perform consistently.

DAVAO DEL NORTE -The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have recorded a high standard of living in the province of Davao del Norte which impacts the poverty statistical figures of the province.

Davao del Norte ranked among the 40 poorest provinces based on the 2015 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) results, but Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XI Regional Director Ruben D. Abaro primarily attributed this to the “significant increase of P3,583.00 in Annual Per Capita Poverty Threshold from 2012 to 2015.”

The FIES figures of PSA’s report on 2015 Poverty Sta-

tistics of the Philippines show that the province had been taking an uptrend in its the Annual Per Capita Poverty Threshold from 2006 to 2015. In 2006 its poverty threshold was pegged at P13,214; 2009 at P16,863; 2012 at P20,841; 2015 at P24,424.

The 2015 FIES figures also show that Davao del Norte had the highest Annual Per Capita Poverty Threshold among the provinces in Davao Region and in Mindanao.

Per PSA definition, Annual Per Capita Poverty Threshold means “the minimum income/expenditure required for a family/individual to meet the basic food

and non-food requirements” in a year.

According to the PSA basic non-food requirements involves expenditures for “clothing and footwear, housing; fuel, light, water; maintenance and minor repairs; rental of occupied dwelling units; medical care; education; transportation and communication; non-durable furnishings; household operations; and personal care & effects”.

In his explanation to Provincial Planning and Development Officer (PPDO) Nelson Plata, Abaro cited Davao del Norte’s considerable hike in Annual Per Capita Poverty Threshold in 2015 as an indication

that “the cost of living in Davao del Norte is higher compared to other provinces”.

Cost of living basic definition says that “it is the average amount of money that people in a particular place need, to buy the basic food and food non food” requirements.

Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Anthony G. del Rosario tasked Plata to check with PSA the veracity of a National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) report highlighting Davao del Norte among the 40 poorest provinces, using the PSA report on 2015 Poverty Statistics of the Philippines.

sario dated March 14, Plata relayed the analysis of Abaro citing the underlying “possible reasons” why Davao del Norte ranked among the 40 poorest provinces based on the 2015 FIES survey which, according to Abaro, had taken only 400 respondents out of more than one million population of the province in 2015.

Abaro further explained that the high poverty threshold of Davao del Norte also “indicates that people in the province preferred to eat food that is more costly compared with the food that is being sold or eaten by the people in other provinces.”

Comprehensive discussions during the training were related to the current trends in research practices in education and were handled by Jonathan Madronero of Philippine Science High School – SRC, and Dr. Priscilla Marayag, the Dean of College of Teacher Education in General Santos City’s Holy Trinity College.

Mayor Rellon stated that the LGU, through the PEESO, will be conducting

another training in June 2019 to complete the 15 units of CPD training which is what has been required by the newly released Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) to the 3-year old law.

The IRR provides that in-house trainings and capacity-building activities of government agencies and corporations, including LGUs and private employers shall be credited and considered as CPD compliance.

The requirement of CPD training units prior to the renewal of licenses of the professionals is enshrouded in Republic Act No. 10912, otherwise known as the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016.

Meanwhile, using PSA’s statistical data, the SocioEconomic Profile of Davao del Norte says that the province “offers better income opportunities for low income population” as measured by their daily income despite the high cost of living.

In a radio guesting Governor Del Rosario interpreted this data to mean that “our economy has grown faster than any other province in Mindanao.”

“The fact that Davao del Norte has the highest poverty threshold, meaning our economy has grown, definitely,” he said as he recalled various development initiatives of previous provincial governors and District Representatives of the province.

Meanwhile, Abaro also took note of the “preciseness” of Davao del Norte’s 2015 poverty estimates with coefficient variation pegged at 24.8 percent as indicated in PSA’s 2015 Official Poverty Statistics of the Philippines.

“The lower the value of coefficient variation, the more precise the estimate is,” Abaro said.

On the other hand, he positively noted the downward trend in number of poor families in Davao del Norte.

Based on the 2015 FIES Report, the magnitude of poor families in the province was reduced from 60,652 in 2012 to 52,665 in 2015, “despite the high poverty threshold and inflation in 2015.”

Yes, people who threw those plastics into the sea that have killed whales and other forms of marine life are to blame for such tragedy. The greater responsibility however rests on the industry that produces the poison that killed those hapless creatures and polluted their habitats. There’s got to be an end to this cycle of producing tons of plastic and making consumers and government assume the dirty job of waste management.

Besides, recycling plastic waste can only do so much. The things that can be produced from it will remain plastic and will become unusable after a few years, for example, chairs and tables fashioned from

plastic bottles. Recycling only delays their departure to the dumpsite – or the ocean.

So, enough of those paeans to recycling and get some sense, that is, ban plastic. If Congress can’t be made to act on it fast, citizens can lobby with their local government units for ordinances. In Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro City has pioneered in this area by prohibiting business establishments and vendors from using plastic bags.

There may be resistance at the start but the greater good should prevail.

It can be done. It must be done.

The Trail Approach is slightly inclined to the right with lots of rattan along the path. Incline increases steadily as the trail progresses to a minor peak at 800 miles above sea level (masl) with a view of the base camp. The trail transitions from deciduous to mossy forest at 900masl.

The trail passes by the landslide area where there are sightings of luminous mushrooms and sulfur vents.

At 1100masl emerges the pandan gubat and red ferns.

There is a huge vent that can be explored.

Recommended stop is three hours into the climb where there is a panoramic view of the white island and about a quarter of the province. The trail then traverses into the old crater with huge boulders and sulfur vents.

There will be a steep ascent to reach the minor peak of Mt. Hibok Hibok. You will enter a pygmy forest and have

a view of several mountain peaks in the horizon. Nearing the peak will be more pygmy forest with wildflowers and endemic pitcher plants. The summit is the crown of Mt. Hibok Hibok with panoramic views.

Crimes against property recorded a drastic reduction of 65% (4,384 vs. 1,533) with impressive reductions across the board: theft (-69.2%), robbery (-60%), cattle rustling (-58%), and carnapping of motor vehicles and motorcycles (-69.2%).

Crimes against persons dropped 29.2% (2,873 vs. 2,033) with the greatest reductions in physical injuries (-38%), murder (-18.2%), and rape.

As a result, the average monthly crime rate in Region 10 dropped -14.3 percentage points (ppt).

Although the total number of crimes solved dropped 28.2 ppts as a result of the overall drop in total crime volume, as did the number of crimes cleared (-26.7%), police and other law enforcers nevertheless still managed to increase crime solution efficiency by 8.5 and their crime clearance efficiency by 11.7 ppts.

“Peace is an entitlement of the people,” said Cagayan de Oro City Mayor S. Oscar Moreno, who sits as the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-10) Chairperson.

“The beauty of bringing development to the countryside is you know that it is needed and you know that it will have its optimal results. Giving the people in the mountains the opportunity to live a life that those in the highways have long enjoyed is beyond compare,” he added.

During the March 13 launch of the Regional Peacebuilding and Development Framework and Agenda (RPBDFA) for northern Mindanao, Moreno recalled a convergence experience of the government in Sitio Lantad, Barangay Kibanban, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, which he described as “a symbol of neglect that the government has been guilty of.”

However, during his tenure as Misamis Oriental Provincial Governor, Moreno related how they restored peace through development and made it a showcase for local peace building initiative (“The Lantad PeaceBuilding Experience: Turning Red to Green in Misamis Oriental”/From a ‘No Man’s Land’ to a Land of Hope/Strategic Innovations in Upgrading Misamis Oriental’s Provincial Peace and Order Council) that won the province its second straight Galing Pook award in 2012.

Similar gains have been made in Cagayan de Oro especially Moreno’s second term as City Mayor. Despite a rise in total crime volume from 2016 to 2017, crimes cleared reached 138.5% and crime clearance efficiency 41.1%.

While Cagayan de Oro still recorded the highest crime volume in Region 10 for 2018, it accomplished an impressive 45% reduction (-3,369) in total crime volume compared to 2017.

As a result of the drastic drop in crime volume, the number of crimes cleared by the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office dropped from 5,422 in 2017 to only 3,593 in 2018. Nevertheless, COCPO increased its crime clearance efficiency to 87.2% in 2018 from 72.4% in 2017.

Similarly, the number of crimes solved by COCPO dropped from 4,740 in 2017 to 3,177 also due to the drastic drop in crime volume. Still, COCPO again delivered by improving its crime solution efficiency from 63.3% in 2017 to 77.1% in 2018.

Thus, as a result of the combined effects of the -45% decrease in total crime volume, coupled with the 13.8% in crime solution efficiency and 14.8% improvement in crime clearance efficiency by the COCPO, the average monthly crime rate in Cagayan de Oro City dropped from 89.3 in 2017 to 49.1 per 100,000 population in 2018, an impressive 40.2 reduction.

“We can also attribute these gains to our activation of barangay tanods as force multipliers and the first line of law enforcement and engagement in all of Cagayan de Oro City’s 80 barangays,” said City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a, Jr. The LGU and barangays share the budget 50/50 honoraria for the tanods monthly honoraria.

The decline in criminality region-wide is also attributed to the crime prevention efforts of the police to the cooperation of the community, particularly in sustaining efforts to keep the streets safe and crime free.

This earned the Philippine National Police – Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) a commendation as the top regional office in the country in terms of crime reduction for the first half of the 2018 and ranked no. 3 nationwide in law enforcement for 2018.

“The relentless effort in crime prevention, especially on illegal drug operations resulted in the reduction of crimes,” said P/Supt. Lemuel B. Gonda, former PRO-10 spokesperson and currently 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company Commander in Misamis Oriental. “Most of the crimes recorded are drugrelated cases.”

Boholano Visual Artists Art Exhibit 2019 All photos by MIKE BAÑOS A month long exhibition

by Boholano artists is now ongoing at the Art Gallery of the Capitol University Museum of Three Cultures, Cagayan de Oro City.

Dubbed PiskayJamo 3, the visual art exhibit showcases Bohol’s rich and colorful history, cultural and natural heritage. It highlights the finest Boholano master pieces, depicting retrospective pre-Hispanic and other eras.

“PiskayJamo is a highly superlative expression for Boholanos,” explained Glenn Lumantao, Presi-

dent of the Bohol Artists Inc. (BAI), who founded PiskayJamo in 2009.

“We portray our natural and cultural heritage in PisakyJamo. We capture through our visual arts the beauty of Bohol, like the Chocolate Hills,” explained Glenn, who also has 26 years experience as a tour guide in Bohol.

“Piskay is a native Boholano- Visayan word which means nice. Jamo is a 100% Boholano word which means very much.

Thus, PiskayJamo simply means very nice.”

PiskayJamo – Cagayan is the third of a series. It was first staged in Cebu City at the Art Center of SM City Cebu in 2009, and again in Bohol in 2017.

“This is indeed a very good exhibit in that we take a closer look at the tarsiers and many other things that are uniquely Bol-anon,” said City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

“Bohol has always been known for industry, dedication and commitment. This makes me very excited to view the exhibit because while Bol-anon art is not very different from our own, there are elements that are uniquely Bol-anon that we
