Maramag LGU, SM conferred ASEAN Tourism Awards TWO of Region 10’s nominees were recently declared winners during the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) - the LGU of Maramag and SM Downtown Premier CdO. In January 14 to 18, 2019, at Ha Long City in Vietnam, the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) was conducted. The ATF is a cooperative regional effort to promote the ASEAN as one tourist destination. The annual event involves all the tourism industry sectors of the 10 member states of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar,
the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, with the theme “The Power of One.” The ASEAN Member states, in their efforts to market the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) as a Quality Single Destination have considered the standardization of tourism services. The ASEAN Tourism Standards Task Force with the concurrence of the National Tourism Organizations has identified six areas where standards with specific criteria, requirements and guidelines need to be established. More firms eye Phividec as production hub in MisOr By JIGGER JERUSALEM
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Billions worth of investments was poured into Misamis Oriental’s economic zone by corporations and businesses further bolstering Northern Mindanao as the prime investment hub of Mindanao. Phivide c Indust r ia l Authority (PIA) Administrator Franklin Quijano said Wednesday that several companies have either started construction or are in the process of finalizing their accreditation with the PIA management as locators. Quijano estimated the new investments at PHP4 billion, occupying several hectares of land inside the ecozone.
PIA m an age s t h e 3,000-hectare Phividec Industrial Estate in the province, covering 13 barangays located in the towns of Tagoloan and Villanueva. So far, dozens of locators have established their businesses inside this economic zone. One company, Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Inc., has already started its operation within the PIA complex in Barangay Santa Cruz, Tagoloan early this month. The Gardenia plant in Tagoloan is the firm’s first facility in Mindanao.
