Armed men shot former vice mayor By Divina M. Suson Correspondent
ILIGAN City--A former vice mayor cheated death after unidentified armed men shot him around 8 in the morning on Wednesday (March 20) in Barangay Esperanza, Bacolod town in Lanao del Norte. Police identified the victim as Naciancino Pacalioga, 57, married. Pacalioga, police said is the former vice mayor of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. Chief Insp. Salman Saad, information officer of Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, said the riding in tandem suspects shot the victim from behind after he alighted from his car. Salman said the former vice mayor was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Pacalioga, who also served as town mayor before elected as vice mayor was dismissed by the Office of the Ombudsman last year, “for deliberately omitting several properties from his 2011, 2012, and 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).” He was charged with “Falsification of Official Document and Serious Dishonesty” for failing to declare 10 parcels of land located in different barangays of the municipality.

Comelec: Mindanao under ‘Category Red’ AS 2019 POLLS DRAW NEAR

ILIGAN City--The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday declared the entire Mindanao as “Category Red Election Hotspot” in the run-up to the mid-term elections in May. Mindanao, which has been placed under martial law since May 23, 2017, comprises 27 provinces, 33 cities, 422 towns and 10,084 barangays. It has a population of 24.1 million as of 2015 and its voting population in the 2016 Presidential polls was 12.6 million, the second vote-richest island in the country (Luzon’s was 30.4 million and Visayas’ was 11.3 million) Mindanao’s macroeconomic performance map in 2017, courtesy of the Mindanao Development Authority. CAGAYAN de Oro City--The head of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Northern Mindanao urged local government units (LGUs) to help the government implement the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) by opening more routes. LTFRB-10 Regional Director Allan Guro expressed high hopes that PUV operators will soon field more units in compliance to the modernization program. “In Region 10, particularly in Cagayan de Oro, kung naa na sila makita nga gadagan mosunod

Deseras said its Hyundai County 29-sitter minibuses are now available, including its 14-sitter
public utility jeepneys. “Isa po sa layunin ng Hyundai Philippines na matulungan si Presidente Rodrigo Duterte na makapag provide ng safe and more comfortable mode of transportation,” he said. For his part, Isuzu Division Manager Joseph Bautista assured the public of its durable and safe public transport system. The government has allocated a budget of P447 million this year for the program’s implementation, according to the report made by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
