Police arrests army for selling illegal drugs By DIVINA M. SUSON, Correspondent

ILIGAN City--Authorities arrested on Tuesday (March 12) evening an army personnel in a joint buy-bust operation of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Iligan City Police Office in Barangay Poblacion, here. Police identified the suspect as Jonathan Villanzana Virtudazo, 27, single, a resident of Zone 8, Cocogrove, Barangay Poblacion. This paper learned that Virtudazo is an active member of the 545th Engineer Battalion, Philippine Army located in Patikul, Sulu. He is in Iligan for a short vacation.

Senior Inspector Austin Karl Tirol, team leader of the CDEU, said Virtudazo is a 'newly-identified' drug personality and considered a high value target (HVT). "He is not in our drug personality watchlist but he was identified lately as pusher from the suspects we previously arrested who linked Virtudazo in their activities," Tirol said in an interview with this paper. The initiative makes Philippines among the few countries in Asia to pass child restraint legislation,” the organization said in a statement on Wednesday. “In the Philippines, more than 600 children die from road crashes each year. The legislation is a significant step towards prioritizing the safety and welfare of infants and children on Philippine roads, and preventing traffic-related deaths and injuries,” it added. The Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act also restricts children from sitting in the front seats of automobiles.
