THE Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) regional office in Northern Mindanao is taking the lead in the observance of Women’s Month throughout March here. During a press conference held Monday in Cagayan de Oro City, POPCOM 10 director Jeremias Gupit said his agency is mandated by law to lead the observance as provided in Rule IV of the Magna Carta for Women which provides women access to information and services including reproductive health.

ILIGAN CITY -- Operatives of a police checkpoint intercepted Sunday afternoon (March 8) a drug courier onboard a Yamaha motorcycle bearing Plate No. 1017-8076340, while the suspect tried to hurdle a checkpoint in Barangay Tampilong, Marawi City. Colonel Madzgani Mukaram, director of Lanao del Sur police identified the arrested illegal drug courier as Walid Nasser Usman, a 32-year-old resident of Baloi, Lanao del Norte. But his identification card has indicated he lives in Mipaga, Marawi City. Policemen manning the checkpoint also seized from the suspect around 200 grams of illegal drugs known as shabu, with an estimated market value of P1.3 Million, and two identification cards (IDs). During investigation conducted by police investigators, Usman has been a subject of surveillance for a month after the

police confirmed he was involved in illegal drug operations in Marawi City and other areas in Lanao del Sur. Investigation also disclosed that Usman was employed as a jail officer as indicated in one of his IDs. A report from the Public Information Office of the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO) was a jail officer and was tagged as a high valued individual (HVI) as a government employee allegedly involved in illegal drug trade. DAVAO CITY – Amid the controversy of the hundreds of millions of dollars allegedly brought in by Chinese nationals into the country, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte filed a bill penalizing bulk cash
