MISAMIS ORIENTAL: The province of Misamis Oriental remains COVID-19 free from the dreaded virus that went pandemic in March this year, Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano announced Thursday. Emano cited the cooperation of the people of Misamis Oriental in implementation of the guidelines imposed by national InterAgency Task Force on the management of emerging infectious diseases. “With the cooperation of the people, the province of Misamis Oriental remains COVID-19 free until today,” Emano said. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Rohaifa Guro, 26, wife of Lumbaca Unayan town Mayor Sumerado Guro, died of multiple gunshot wounds while undergoing treatment in a hospital here, the police announced Thursday. Maj. Duterte gives DOH until June 9 to DOH-10 urges vulnerable sector to give infected health workers’ benefits be more cautious amid new normal By CNN Philippines Staff

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 4) — President Rodrigo Duterte ordered health authorities to immediately give compensation benefits to health workers infected with COVID-19. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, in an online briefing on Thursday, said Duterte is giving the Department of Health until June 9 to release the

money. Roque said the ultimatum is in response to the revelation made in a Senate hearing that no infected healthcare worker has received the benefits as promised in the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act. Senate Finance Committee chairperson Sonny Angara said it was because of the absence of implementing rules and regulations from the Department of Health.

The law, approved in March, grants P100,000 to healthcare workers with “severe” COVID-19 infection and P1 million to the families of those who died from the viral illness.
