More establishments open as Misor now under MGCQ M By GERRY LEE GORIT, Correspondent

ISAMIS Oriental--Majority of local establishments in the province started to open shops after it was declared under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). However, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Dexter Yasay and Nancy Madjos urged local residents to properly observe the necessary health protocols especially when they go out. Under MGCQ, Yasay said that travelers will no longer be required to secure a "travel pass" if they travel

within the province, including those residents coming from Cagayan de Oro City. He said only travelers traveling to other provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin and Lanao are required to secure a travel pass. "They must secure their travel passes from the Philippine National Police

(PNP)," said Yasay. "Wala nawala ang Covid," said Madjos as she reminded residents to always wear facemask, and observe "social distancing."

They said checkpoints are still installed in some key areas to continue the monitoring of body temperatures of those people coming in See OPEN, page 11

Amid COVID crisis, Agusan corn farmers enjoy bumper harvest By CHRIS V. PANGANIBAN

LOS ARCOS, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur--- Amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis, farmers here expect a much better bumper harvest of their 10-hectare corn fields, an area here which have been consistent national awardee since 2017 for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) by the Department of Agriculture. The farmers tilling the 10-hectare model farms under the Corn Production Livelihood Program of the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers,

Inc. (NCECCO), are expected to harvest at least 11 metric tonnes (MT) of corn grits per hectare of the hybrid pioneer corn variety in the next ten days. Lorenzo Mandahuyan, consultant of the program who is a retired municipal agricultural technician, said NCECCO program farmerbeneficiaries will gain an improved production since he had devoted more of his time teaching them better technological practices that will increase their yield since they started planting See CORN, page 11
