Mayor Sara to ask Pres Duterte to exempt Davao City from martial law By ANTONIO L. COLINA IV

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews ) – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will request her father, President Rodrigo R. Duterte, to exempt Davao City from his declaration of martial law and only place areas under military rule where peace and order is unstable because “it doesn’t have to be the entire area of Mindanao.” Carpio was responding to the query of Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries on the two-year-old martial law declaration in Mindanao during the mayor’s meeting with European ambassadors around 2 p.m. at the sidelines of the 2019 Davao Investment Conference (Davao ICon) at the SMX Convention Davao. Fries asked specifically the mayor how long Mindanao would be under martial law. The mayor admitted she did not know when martial law would be lifted. CA dismissed 24 administrative cases filed vs Oro Mayor Moreno

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MDN Mindanao News, June 20) - The Court of Appeals 12th Special Division in Manila has dismissed 24 administrative cases filed by the Ombudsman against incumbent Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno. The cases filed by the Ombudsman was when Oscar Moreno was still the Governor of the province of Misamis Oriental. The promulgation was based on the 33 page decision of the Special 12th Division of the Court of Appeals dated May 15, 2019 penned down by Associate Justice Victoria Isabel Paredes, Marlene Gonzales-Sison and Maria Elisa Sempio-Diy. Aside from Moreno, the court also dismissed the administrative cases filed by the Ombudsman against Elsie Lopoy, Leemar

Tinagan, Engr Rolando Pacuribot, Divina Bade and Patrick Gabutina. Prior to this, then Governor Moreno and other officials was accused by the Ombudsman for administrative Case for serious dishonesty, grave misconduct prejudicial to the best interest of public service, and that same case almost dismissed Moreno as Mayor of the city.
