MisOcc crime volume dips 11% in 1H 2022 By NEF LUCZON

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Misamis Occidental province’s crime volume dropped by 11 percent for the first half of this year. In a statement Tuesday, the Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office (MOCPPO) said a total crime volume of 613 cases were recorded from January 1 to June 30 this year compared to 688 crimes during the same period in 2021. Col. Anthony Placido, MOCPPO chief, said the decrease in crimes is a result of continuous law enforcement operations

that have so far yielded 372 wanted persons. Placido a ls o noted that the campaign against loose firearms resulted in the confiscation of some 180 firearms, including those seized during the election gun ban, that were safely kept in local police stations. For the anti-illegal drugs campaign, MOCPPO launched a total of 19 operations which resulted in the arrest of 25 persons and confiscation of 126.77 grams of illegal drugs amounting to some PHP330,000.
