Father, son yield to military By DIVINA M. SUSON Correspondent

ILIGAN City--A father and his son, believed to be sympathizers of Dawlah Islamiya Lanao group turned themselves in to the military, 5 pm on Monday, July 15, in Barangay Matitikop, Tubaran, Lanao del Sur and yielded two caliber 45 handguns. Lt. Col. Ian Noel Ignes, commander of the Army’s 55th Infantry Battalion, said the father was former barangay chairmen of Matitikop while the son is the incumbent chairman who won in the last 2018 barangay elections. The two voluntarily turned in to the military to clear their names after they were suspected as supporters of the Dawlah Islamiya because of the sightings of the extremists in their barangay that resulted in the first encounter with the government forces in March 11, this year.
