MALAYBALAY CITY - The alleged online scammer in Bohol has apologized to the immediate family of Baby Yuan, a 4-month old baby who recently died of complications after he was contracted with a rare disease. Jessa Solejon, Yuan’s aunt told MDNN that the suspect, a certain Jhoann Eva, 18 year’s old of Tagbilaran City, contacted the immediate family and asked for forgiveness. Solejon said Jhoann

Lanao Norte farmers receive farm equipment from DAR NINE (9) agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in Lanao del Norte are excited about the prospect of their future after the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over to them a P2 million worth of farm machinery. DAR Regional Director Zoraida Macadindang said these multi-million-peso worth of farm equipment include mobile corn shellers, grass cutters, sprayers, mobile rice mill, hand tractors, and a decorticating machine. “These farm machines and equipment will service more than 500 farmers here. All these would make farming easier and faster for them. It will also greatly improve their yield and increase their income,” Macadindang said.

This equipment distribution is under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP), a DAR program that implements the provision of farm machines aimed to improve farm productivity and earning capabilities of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in a sustainable manner through their organizations. At the turn over ceremony, Rushdi Mindalano, DAR’s provincial agrarian reform program officer, explained that “one of the major reasons for bringing about the farm machinery equipment to our ARBs is to empower them and to bring about a classified sustainable farming system, thus, an assurance of improved living conditions for them.” HONOR. Record-breaker Rovanpera takes his first win driving Toyota Yaris WRC TOKYO, July 19, 2021 (JCN Newswire) - Kalle Rovanpera has become the youngest driver to ever win a round of the FIA World Rally Championship after he and co-driver Jonne Halttunen secured victory on Rally Estonia: the fifth win in a row for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team. At 20 years and 290 days, Rovanpera claims the record that was previosuly held by the man who is now his Team Principal, Jari-Matti Latvala (who was just over two years older when he won Rally Sweden in 2008). Rovanpera led after all but two of the event’s 24 stages, held over some of the fastest roads in rallying. He took six out of eight stage wins on Friday in a close battle with his nearest rival, who he then pulled away from during Saturday with some stunning stage times. He went into the final day with a lead of 50.7 seconds, which he ultimately extended to almost one minute - 59.9 seconds to be precise - with an expertlycontrolled drive through the last six stages. The team’s fifth consecutive win (and sixth from seven rounds so far

this year) is the longestever WRC winning streak achieved by Toyota in its proud rallying history. All three of the team’s cars finished inside the top five, with Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia coming fourth and Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin taking fifth. CAGAYAN de Oro’s roadmap to dismantle the deadly sting of Covid-19 has leveled up anew following the ECQ declaration of the IATF, thanks but no thanks to the entry of the much infectious Delta variant from India. For the past 18 months, Cagay-anons have been doing the balancing act on how to live with the pandemic. Now that we are back to square one, the panic mode is again prevalent in Cagayan de Oro. With the latest IATF notice of upgrading the city from MECQ to ECQ, City Hall was reportedly caught by surprise of the sudden annoucement, sending Mayor Oca and his team to issue calm messages amid reports of the presence of the new Covid-19 delta variant in sitio Macanhan and barangay

This prompted Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, now Deputy Speaker of the House to write Malacanang for cash aid to Cagayan de Oro residents, saying his move has no political agenda, only pure intention of mitigating the situation. Now, granting but not exactly admitting that his wish would come true, we say thank you this early to him for covering City Hall with his benevolent gesture of concern. With the ECQ in place, rushing to get vaccinated is the call of the hour. Yet as City Hall confirms, vaccines are coming by trickles, not enough to supply all vax centers in the city. SO are all of us. You wake up in the morning and open your eyes. One mishap follows the other. And then the radio plays Jason Collett too: “When everything goes wrong”. Accept it, stay calm, and most important, stay motivated during these tough times. Maybe easier said than done. I also had to learn it first and to pull myself up on it every time. Of course, sometimes life’s rough patches feel like they’re going to last forever. Keep in mind: whether you’re dealing with workrelated issues, family problems, or stressful situations, very few problems last for a lifetime. So remind yourself, that things won’t be this bad

forever. When things are going wrong, it’s hard to recognize what is going right. It’s easy to screen out the good things and only focus on the bad things. Remind yourself that some things are going right. Purposely look for the positive, even if it is something very small. One of the most important things to remember is that you have some control of the situation. Even if you aren’t in complete control of the situation, one thing you can always control is your attitude and reaction. Focus on managing what is within your control. Asking for help can be hard sometimes. I tried to

avoid it as long as I could. Big mistake. Asking for help is one of the best ways to deal with tough situations. Tell people what you need specifically if they offer to help. Don’t be afraid to call on friends and family and ask them for help, whether you need emotional support or practical help. with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Ayala Foundation and AC Energy are starting a disaster resiliency program through livelihood. The program will provide training for a total of 300 mothers or heads of families affected by Typhoon Ulysses (international name Vamco), which slammed Luzon in November last year. An initial 50 mothers from the towns of Lal-lo and Buguey, Cagayan, will be trained in cookery and

baking and pastry skills. The remaining 250 participants will go through the training during the remainder of the year. The training will be under the Mobile Training Program of TESDA, and will also cover the towns of Amulung, Solana, Enrile, Baggao, and Alcala. “Inaasahan ko na magkaroon ako ng sariling bakeshop para makatulong sa pamilya ko. MANILA – Amid calls from several business groups to repeal Revenue Regulation (RR) 9-2021 issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said the government is giving high priority to discuss the issue. In a webinar Friday, Rodolfo said the DTI, Department of Finance, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and groups of exporters are meeting this day to resolve issues with respect to the RR 9-2021. BIR’s new policy will impose 12 percent value-added tax (VAT) on goods and services, even sourced locally, sold to export-oriented firms. These purchases were previously subjected to zero VAT. “We continue to engage everyone including, most especially our exporter groups because they’ve raised an important issue with respect to collection of VAT for indirect exports,” Rodolfo said. DOST-II delivers more S&T projects to marginalized communities in Cagayan province TO alleviate poverty and armed conflicts in the region, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region II, through the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program, partnered with the Police Regional Office 02 (PRO 02) to reach out to poor and conflict-stricken municipalities in Cagayan Valley. CEST, one of the flagship programs of the DOST that is being implemented by all regional offices, aims to introduce technology innovations as a foundation for further development in remote areas in the region. For the Cagayan Valley region, DOST-II is carrying our various development programs and projects related, but not limited, to health and nutrition, education, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and environmental protection and conservation. This initiative also entails the provision and transfer of technologybased livelihood projects to the identified communities specifically in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) and the marginalized sectors that include farmers, fisherfolks, indigenous people, and women’s groups. In Cagayan, DOST-II recently funded projects amounting to P1M in three identified CEST areas, namely: Sitio Lagum and Sta. Felicitas in Sto. Nino and Cabuluan in Alcala. Reaching out to isolated communities in Cagayan Sitio Lagum is situated in the mountainous Barangay of Lipatan, Sto. Nino, Cagayan. It is one of the most isolated sitios and accessible by a 3-hour walk across water and land. Because of this, it is more challenging for people to reach it because roads are unpaved and become impassable during the rainy season. Additionally, 56 households in the community do not have access to electricity and potable water supply. The residents still need to fetch water from the mountain and use pieces of cloth as their water filter. The economic activities in the area are also severely restricted due to lack of expertise and skill, absence of equipment and infrastructure, limited access to markets, and exposure to natural hazards such as landslides and flooding. CEST focal person Rowena Guzman said that, “there is more to mountains than climbing to the top, there is still life across the river and there is still hope even in the farthest and most isolated places in

the region. So, we should maximize government efforts to support them.” DOST-II, in partnership with the Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO), provided water distribution system from the mountain going to their households with the use of pipelines that eventually lessened their burden. The community will also be given solar panels with complete sets of battery and inverter for the electricity. Moreover, residents who are not capable of sending their children to school sometimes join armed groups that results in more poverty incidences and more conflicts in the area. Because of this, the D OST had planned to conduct S&T training to prevent this situation. To supplement the need for educational tools, the DOST-II will also make S&T available to them through the Science and Technolog y Res e archBased Openly-Operated KioskS (STARB OOKS) that can be operated even without Internet connectivity. This will provide reliable and free science and technology (S&T) information to the public in an offline mode. It includes books, journals, researches, and other learning materials, including livelihood videos that will help the children, teachers, and the community develop and enhance their S&T knowledge. Another community included under CEST is Barangay of Sta. Felicitas in Sto. Nino, Cagayan. The main problem in the community is the access to clean and potable drinking water. Their main source of water is through the use of deep wells. During the months of April – June, their water supply could dry up without warning due to drought. It is also not safe for them to drink the water from the wells because of the presence of mud and other microorganisms. Ronnie Nacional, a Barangay Kagawad in the community said that the water they get from the

well is not safe for drinking especially during typhoons. It is also hard for them to travel and buy drinking water because their barangay is located in the middle of a river. He also lamented that with this difficult situation, they would not allow their children to get sick just by drinking the water that comes from the well. To improve their access to quality drinking water, DOST-II conducted site assessment and community project inception meeting last 07 July 07 2021 for the implementation of the Potable Water System project under the CEST program. This intervention will benefit around 130 families. DOST-II will also ensure the sustainability of the project through a package of training for the maintenance of the equipment and the facility that forms part of the technology intervention in the community. Teachers in the barangay will also be linked to the STARBOOKS online training conducted by DOST-II that will help them upgrade their S&T knowledge and instructional materials. Also expected to benefit from the CEST program in Cagayan is Barangay Cabuluan in the Municipality of Alcala. DOST-II, with the help of the CPPO, conducted livelihood training and demonstrated the production of dishwashing liquid, powder detergent, and hand sanitizer in line with the CEST program. This is seen to help the community prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus. The DOST-II funded the implementation and the establishment of these income-generating livelihood projects in the community. Par t of t he proj e c t focuses on the livestock and poultry production to help the farmers and the community recover from the loss of jobs and unemployment due to the Covid-19 pandemic and those whose poultry stocks were adversely affected

due to bird flu. DOST-II has committed to continue providing them with appropriate S&T training that will also assure the maintenance and sustainability of the intervention so that the community would surpass the change in climate con-

ditions during the driest or wettest days. In attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, and in support of the government’s efforts to end local insurgency and armed conflict in the country, DOST-II will continue to introduce high impacts

Then build on what the student did understand in your next discussion and next task. Use your textbook as a tool. IN the late 1950s, there was a shift form educational to instructional objectives and finally to behavioral or performance objectives in educational technology. This shift was due primarily to the entry into education of a number of people who came from military and industrial psychology. The military and industrial approach to behavioral objectives brought a return to the industrial model the school exhibited during the efficiency period in American education from 1903 to 1925. Education was once again confused with training. The military/industrial approach to teaching and learning prepared teachers in the same manner that training was typically used in military/ industrial situations where behavioral objectives were

written descriptions of specific, terminal behaviors that were manifested in terms of observable measurable behavior. A major impact of behaviorism on educational technology can be seen in the development of teaching machines and programmed instruction during the 1960s, debuting in the demonstration of a machine to teach spelling and arithmetic. Back then, there was a need for teaching machines and new concepts in education were introduced such as individualized instruction, systematic development and evaluation of instructional materials and changes in the testing and evaluation practices. Somehow, this new approach became known as a teaching machine revolution.

COVID-related school closures affected children unequally, as not all children had the opportunities, tools, or access needed to keep on learning during the pandemic. For millions of students, school closures will not be temporary interference with their education, but the abrupt end of it. Education should be at the core of all governments’ recovery plans, to make education free and accessible to every child around the world. Governments must act swiftly to redress the harm caused to children’s education in the wake of the unprecedented disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic. With millions of children deprived of education

during the pandemic, now is the time to strengthen protection of the right to education by rebuilding better and more equitable and robust education systems. The aim shouldn’t be just to return to how things were before the pandemic but to fix the flaws in systems that have long prevented schools from being open and welcoming to all children. Education should be at the core of all governments’ recovery plan. Governments should both address the impact of the pandemic on children’s education and the pre-existing problems. In light of profound financial pressures on national economies from the pandemic, governments should protect and prioritize funding for public education.

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives backed by policemen have seized some PHP3.4 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested a suspected big-time drug trader in an anti-drug operation late Sunday here. Jury Rocamora, PDEAZamboanga City Office head, identified the arrested suspect as Benhar Mowa, a resident of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Rocamora said Mowa was arrested around 7:35 p.m. Sunday at a parking lot of a shopping mall in Barangay Sta. Maria. Seized from Mowa were some 500 grams of suspected shabu packed in 10 transparent heat-sealed plastic packs worth PHP3.5 million concealed in a face mask box, two smart phones, one analog phone, and identification card. Rocamora said Mowa is a member of a drug syndicate that operates in the region, northern Mindanao, and Cotabato areas. Don’t waste time trying to force others to change or trying to make things be different if it isn’t within your control. Investing time and energy into trying to do things you can’t will cause you to feel helpless and exhausted. Acceptance is one of the best ways to establish resilience. Remember this: one of the things to remember when you’re facing difficulties, is that you’ve handled problems in the past. Don’t overlook past difficulties that you’ve dealt with successfully. Remind yourself of all the past problems you’ve overcome and you’ll gain confidence in dealing with the current issues. Besides everything: think about yourself too. When everything seems to be going wrong, take care of yourself. Get plenty of rest, get some exercise, eat healthy, and spend some time doing leisure activities. When you’re taking better care of yourself you’ll be better equipped to deal with your problems. Everything is temporary, even everything which goes wrong. Happiness is a result of your approach to life, not what happens to you. Sometimes we need to take one step, then another. Even if they’re just baby steps, keep moving. Rather than focusing on the worst case, think instead of what else is possible. Look for the lesson. Challenging situations can often teach us what we have left to learn. Keep a positive attitude by remaining focused on solutions, skills, and strengths. Start small. Spend time with the people who support you. Baby Yuan’s immediate family only discovered the modus of the suspect when one of her victims, who also live in Bohol, identified as Marissa Beachy, contacted them and reported Jhoann’s illegal activities. In her FB account, Mrs Beachy who married an American, contacted the immediate family of Yuan and told them about the suspect’s illegal activities in their hometown in Bohol. Marissa identified her as a certain Jhoann, 18 year’s old from Tagbilaran City, Bohol. “I am one of her victims. She chatted me on Facebook and told me about the condition of the baby, then later solicited money from me,” Marissa said. MDNN contacted Mrs Marissa Beachy on FB and she also confirmed the modus operandi of the suspect. Real Estate Expo REEM 2021 to be held digitally REAL Estate in the Philippines will be once again on the center-stage at the digital edition of the Real Estate Expo Manila from July 14 to July 16 2021. What used to be an exciting physical event held at SMX exhibition center will this year adapt to the new normal and offer, at the same time, the opportunity to many Filipinos abroad to access the digital expogrounds and all for free. In partnership with the Infrastructure & Construction Focus Group the event will also feature a 2-day conference with two afternoon sessions on July 14 and July 15 with exceptional speakers from the biggest companies in the real estate industry in the Philippines.
